Oil paint (whether water miscible or not) absolutely is said to deteriorate unprimed paper-e -all oils are made the same way and contain acid, the W-M oil just has an emulsifier added to it, but the paint and the oil is still acidic. It may be ok to do a light print like Dawn Emerson does given how little oil is applied, but painting on it with any kind of wide oil application cannot be considered archival. Having said that, Picasso painted oils on regular cardboard and that work is still viewable in several museums...

Why not use printmaking ink which is made for application on paper?

Hello! Thank you for the question. I do not use printmaking ink, only because the oil drys faster. Akua ink works wonderfully!!!

I tried alcohol on archive sanded paper and it melted the glue and took off the sand.

Thank you for letting me know! Some archived sanded paper will not work with any waterbased material. I recommend UArt and I believe Pastel Mat will work fine. You can check with the manufacturer or just google if the paper can handle wet media. Hope this helps
