The Night Floyd Mayweather Dismantled a Future Hall of Famer

- In Canelo Alvarez, we celebrate one of the most decorated and active champions in boxing today.
However, it hasn't all been sunshine and rainbows..
Here we look at the passing of the torch, against Floyd Mayweather Jr, a night which would either make or break todays Face of Boxing - before any of this was possible.

“Before the fight Canelo’s age was an advantage. After the fight, it was an excuse.” - Floyd Mayweather
Nothing but facts. They are still calling someone that had like 44 pro wins inexperienced. So damn pathetic.
The did that to Floyd a lot. Before fights this guy had the right style or was experience enough or had the hand speed to keep up with him but after fights some how the same guys were always to small to old
I AGREE......THATS WHY CRAWFORD IS SMART AND DONT GET INTO THE HYPE....WHEN PEOPLE AGAINST U A WIN IS STILL A LOSS...THEY WILL ALWAYS MAKE EXCUSES INSTEAD OF WITNESSING WHAT THEY JUST WATCH...
he couldnt defend will in his young carrer to be fair
Faxxx 😅😅😅😅
I actually thought Canelo had a 45% chance of winning especially if his punches and combos connect. But, damn Floyd unlocked Ultra Instinct in that fight.
He knew what Canelo was going to do and planned accordingly. That shoulder roll shown in this video was so awesome to see being able to parry and redirect the punch away and setting up Floyd's own counter
To be fair everytime canelo had floyd pinned he didnt throw a punch. Like it was fixed or something. But that canelo was trash then.
actually it was Cotto the most difficult fight he ever had, miguel made floyd bleed his own blood, nobody had that done before, his combinations were sick, Floyd had to reach to win that fight.
@@johnconnor7958 cotto one that fight beat Mayweather hands down. Got cheated out of a win
@@kp9593 this guy hates Floyd so much haha. Hey bro, just remember, no matter how much you cry history wont change. Floyd is going down as the best ever and there’s nothing you can do about it.
Before the fight they said Floyd was too old and after the fight they said Canelo was too young smh
Lmao facts
Been the story for all his fights. Damned if he did damned if he don't.
Canelo would never be who he is now, if he wouldn't have lost to Floyd. after that match, he really understand how to use every angle of the ring, how to not spend lot of energy to follow his opponents around the ring and make the ring smaller for the opponent even without throw a single punch.
Agreed 👍 everyone uses the term 'taken to school' as a negative - but this was literally that. Canelo learnt some huge lessons which would help him become one of the best of his generation.
then he got schooled by bivol ...he still struggles with boxers none he's faced are as good as floyd that's the difference
@@Jersey1287 styles will always make fights. Nobody is like floyd. Every great champion has some losses.
@@Jersey1287Bivol, was very different. Bivol, was just too much of a weight and size step up. Because, Canelo did get so good, everyone got a bit delusion. There was talks of him facing, and even beating Uysk. Uysk, whom is 6’3” and near enough 16 stone, and you big enough to beat AJ whom is 6’6” and we’ll over 18 stone. Uysk, would literally break Canelo’s skull, but that’s how far the delusions got. So, Bivol was just a wake up for Canelo’s actual size and the men he can actually face. On top of it, Bivol’s a pretty good fighter.

Someone said that this fight might be the passing of the torch.
And, in some sense, it was. Floyd taught Canelo a great lesson that he would never forget and become the Face of Boxing after Floyd.
And now Canelo taught Floyd a lesson that cherry picking fights with green & past prime fighters won't get you multiple titles. It might get you undefeated but never having the guts to take that chance obviously wasn't in Mayweathers character except for fighting a washup MMA fighter for his 50th win record.😎👍

It’s easy to hate Floyd but he’s beaten them all and gotten little credit for it because it wasn’t fancy knockouts
I suppose you're right if you think being widely considered the greatest ever as "little credit".
Yeah he is a fantastic fighter. But i really would not like to be friends with him. As a person he is or at least was a woman beating, money hungry egoistical human being.
But even he can be a huge inspiration if one looks at his legacy and not his weaknesses.
But personally if i could choose i would have loved to meet and talk to roberto duran, thomas hearns, marvin hagler, canelo alvarez, ggg, manny pac, gervonta davis ( now that he is more mature and kind )
Best ever yes greatest ever no
Pretty Boy Floyd was an assassin! Then then the hand injuries forced him to change his style.
@@wtfgebeurdmij2991 i dont believe that floyd wants to be friends with a judgmental self righteous person like you either who'd rather talk about his personal life than his boxing achievements.

Fights were so hard to make at the time, everyone avoiding each other, refusing to fight, complaining about everything they could think of, and yet when Canelo v Mayweather was mentioned, no problem, it was on. Mayweather knew Canelo was still green and was getting stronger. Good time to take the match. For two amazing boxers like Mayweather and Roy Jones Jr, I feel they avoided moments in time when they could have challenged other boxers at their peak. For me, that's an asterisk against their greatness.

canelos understanding of the sport is unbelieveable, him saying ‘thankyou’ to mayweather was for a number of reasons, 1: to thank him for the opportunity, 2: to show canelo what level he is at and to show what level he can be at to stay at the top and 3: because he knew he was passing on the torch and canelo learned most from this fight and admired mayweathers impeccable defence and tried to replicate it and add it to his game
Mayweather was robbed. Canelo was given the gift of a split decision when Mayweather clearly spanked him the whole bout. It was after this fight that I knew Canelo was favored by the judges and boxing. GGG beat the brakes off of Canelo first fight then arguably the second time. Canelos toughest fight ever.
