My son is a rust player and I have always built our squad base which were very hard to raid. Now my son has taken over and dad here is the noob watching and learning

You can combine the support with a half or low wall if you follow these steps:
Place the support
Place the low wall (support turns red)
Finish the wall
Finish the support
Looks like this got patched out
As a building engineer, I know a lot about building construction, this looks like a lot of fun!

@Luthais make a door connected to your base from the garage. This way you can access the garage from inside your base and vice-versa just like IRL.

This is no doubt the best thing of this update, devs really did an amazing job, I've been playing with the system in single player and finished a 1224 elements project yesterday.
It's really cool how the roofs connect and change shapes. Hopefully in the future the devs make the triangle roofs merge with normal roofs too.
Like you said, the struggle of having the supports and needing the half or low walls is real. Let's hope the devs come with a solution for that :)
Apparently you can place both blueprints first and then it works
Tested yesterday and it worked!
The way to do it is: Place support blueprint, then the low wall blueprint (the support will turn red) then finish the low wall and the support will turn green again! :D
The best building system is a combination of modular pieces that are procedural. Ie: changing the height of foundation, changing the length and height of the walls etc
What game has that since Rust is at the top with Base Building

This awesome this game base build got to Rust base building. I like this game due to not being too cartoonie. I play lots hours on Rust as a base builder. This going to be fun.

When I see you placing the foundations down, yours always snapping to one another. My foundations wont do that. Is there anything im missing? 🤔
No its suppose to snap. Just look at the edge of the platform your trying to snap it to.
@@Luthais it was my own fault. 🤦🏽♂️ I had to finish the first blueprint for the next to snap to it... I was trying to snap the second one while the first one wasnt finished 🤣🤣🤣

The only thing I'd suggest with the new BB system is to allow us to place low walls etc on an overhanging floor as well as allowing us to snap a floor to a foundation. Other than that, the new system is great and I'm sure it's got a lot more coming our way with it :) Great content like usual.
PS: OH and I forgot... We also need a realistic way to level demo now that stick traps give engineering xp.

@@Luthais I started testing things this morning I just didn't have time to get into it.
Starting with 0 demo skill:
-Crafted 10 Imp. Mines for a total of 2,225xp
-Crafted ten blasting caps and only gained 750 more xp.
Have to do more testing but that totals at only 2,975xp out of 10k to get to basic.
When you factor in time spent rounding up the materials to make just ten of both mines and caps... Not looking great lol

hi, im returning player, i was waiting for this modular building update, may i ask how do C4 raiding works now in 0.8 with modular buildings ?
can C4 still blast thru walls and damage what is behind them or was some sort of line of sight for C4 implemented ? last i remmeber is that C4 damaged everything in radius so if you had 5 layers of walls it damaged them all, was that changed ?
No C4 just damages what the blast touches nothing behind it M82s damage walls behind but the C4 is a bit broken after the update as well otherwise I would have showcased it

i don't understand lol. Is there a button i have to press or setting i have to change to make my foundations snap to each other? they just won't snap for me
No they should snap when you have completely built one and you bring the new blueprint against it. Try SHIFT or CTRL if your still struggling

I wish they had like 1/2 floors so we can make more narrow hallways n such, also doors on the left/right side of the wall as well would be very nice. This would fix the weird platform alignment for the spiral stairs and the corner stairs, and it would meld well with the 1/2 floors I suggested. Just a thought :]

Seems foundations are the weakest, and if they break them the whole building may colapse, Needs testing, but building a base inside a ditch would help prevent this, the enemy would have to break from top to bottom, it would require more work for them to get to the bottom maybe

modular building is nice . but i just wish they added the option to adjust height for foundations like it was before

How much does additional squad players increase the module limit for bases?
There is no information about this anywhere whatsoever, and it makes no sense to me. (Edit: That there's no information on this)
There's a lot of info about basics and just things you'll figure out after 3 seconds but not the important things. I recognize this from EU4 but still...
One player squad is 100.
How much is 2 players?
How much is 3 players?

100 is too little to make any meaningful base. The construction is a lot of fun, it's sad to see the limits, although I understand why. (But they could make large squad bases slightly smaller and solo bases slightly larger, or they could remove at least 1 flag cap and make each flag hold more)
It was 50.
They also need to make it so we can use stairs on triangle foundations. I wanted to make a castle turrent on my base but you can't get to the top.
Yea a pit more freedom will be nice but it is way better that before

Great video 😀, but how in single player can you build without materials? I wanted to build a skeleton base quickly before I start putting it on the server.
Type in chat. Press T to Enter chat. Then Type #SetGodMode True and then you can fill blueprints with no material on you.

I don't like the new base building at all in its current format. If you make one mistake on a wall or floor piece and tear it down, then a ton of other pieces come down with it. Even if there are other pieces supporting it on all other sides. Also, the roof is crap. If your base is wider than 2 blocks than you have to use floor pieces to make a roof flat because you can't snap the roof pieces together. They have a LONNNNNG ways to go.
what about element cap
Server owners can change it to what they want. Like the official cap is 100 parts for a solo player but every clan gives you 50 more parts so I changed my servers to 300 base parts with 20 more for each clan member because they made it a 100 for a reason so the most base parts the more pressure on the server.

It works if you place only the blueprints of the half Wall and the Support Frame first, then build the half Wall. The blueprint of the Support Frame will be still green so you can build it next. :)

This is my test server but I mostly play on my PVP server Survival Evolved. Just type my name in server search I have a PVP, PVE and Hardcore Server

100 pieces is way to low for a solo player. I dont like that system they added.
The server owner can change that like all my servers are on 300 for solos

this is on his test server & he upped the base part number for the video - & the part numbers have been increased on his public servers too.

@@Dildz I have been playing since the very start, and the fact that 0.8 has brought nothing but bugs again, the base building sucks,. just like rust, the vehicle's are straight up terrible, and the traders few patch's ago ruined the game.
@@EnemyDwarf-TTV I agree with you on the bugs & vehicles & the traders (to a degree) - but the basebuilding so far I'm finding way better than before. Played rust for all of 10min so i wouldn't know if it sucks or not. But comparatively it opens up so many more creative options.
The bugs are there every new patch - & you'll remember how shit the vehicles were when we got those for the 1st time...so i feel like these are just more of the same in that regard.
