    Murilo Santana's voice is the absence of sound. It's just depth.

      So cool to see my old teacher here after all those years. I took a class he taught when he was an assistant teacher at the Yamasaki Academy, so technically he was my "teacher".

      Do you remember how training at unity was? Was it competitive with also teaching or just 100% live rolls?

    Why NYC? Why not some other major city with a lower cost of living, lower cost of accommodations for visitors, and no other world class BJJ gyms? How about Buffalo, Syracuse or Albany?

    • @pendejo6466
      @pendejo6466 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have to be there for two months or more to really get the benefit. The miyao bothers are deep in theory. They will experiment with you before showing true technique.

    My question is, how the hell do the Miyaos and Luiza immigrate to the United States? The Miyaos barely speak English, so how did they convince immigration officers to grant them a green card? Meanwhile, there are computer engineers who can't even get a green card.

    • @JeffShawBJJ
      @JeffShawBJJ 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      NewAgeBJJ It's possible to get renewable visitor visas with restrictions on work , i.e. you can come with the primary purpose of training. And green cards are assigned in terms of preference categories, which computer engineers are highly rated under.
      The system needs reform, to be sure. I have no idea what the arrangements are for these specific situations, but this is not an uncommon situation. Similarly, I don't speak Portuguese, but it'd be fairly easy for me to go to Brazil to train for an extended period of time.

    • @newagebjj5221
      @newagebjj5221 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jeff Shaw If you notice, Leo Vieiera, Marcus Buchecha, and various others have also been living in the United States permanently. I know for a fact that one cannot work on a tourist visa, which allows a foreign individual to stay in the country for 6 months. They may be sponsored by a US Citizen who actually owns the gym, and they are hired as trainers. The same way a hotel hires foreign chefs. But it's amazing how quickly they get their green cards given that tech engineers have to wait several years to even get something processed.

      NewAgeBJJ It's possible they were allowed in as (from my memory) Aliens of Extraordinary Ability. This is for showing expertise in a particular field which in their case could be BJJ or possibly just like competitive grappling?
      Quick Google search showed 'Aliens of Extraordinary Ability' is an O1 visa.
