    I think I am going to have to watch that another 3 or 4 times -- and maybe takes notes -- before I'll be able to remember it all.
    Thanks for the great video!

    LOL Chelsea @ the end!!! Anyway, thanks for making this video. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about videography and lighting is one of my weak points. Appreciate your content sir.

    Excellent Tutorial! Tons of lighting information for a beginner like me, but I'll get there eventually. Beautiful Model and she's knowledgeable too! Be well, stay encouraged, and an Encourager!

    Great stuff! Considering getting a 120d or 300d because it can essentially be so many different lights in one. So thanks for this video!

    You missed two of the most obvious advantages to using LED lights. 1) That they use a lot less energy and thus are 1a) cheaper to use in terms of energy cost, 1b) can be plugged in anywhere without risk of blowing a circuit, and 2) The don't get super hot, meaning 2a) Less of a risk of burns, 2b) less of a risk of fire.

    • @TheSlantedLens
      @TheSlantedLens  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, those are all very good reasons to use LED lights, as I've talked about several times before. I didn't cover those here since it was more about the techniques of using LEDs, but it's always a good reminder!

    Makes me wonder, are there still situations you would choose an LED Panel over a Single Source (Chip On Board) LED with Bowens mount. Any thoughts on that?

    • @michaelgraham364
      @michaelgraham364 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want more output and you know the light will be floody (wide beam angle, not much throw), a panel is better suited for the job. If you want hard light and/or you need to throw it a longer distance, a single source is more suited for that

    If I'm trying to light a speaker in a ballroom giving a speech at an event, will this light be powerful enough with that fresnel modifier from distance cause I can't put a big softbox in front of the speaker in a ballroom. Not sure how bad the light would look if it's coming from far away.

    If I were to only have 1 light initially in my filmmaking kit would you advise me to get the 300d or 120d? Is it value in paying the extra 300 dollars?

    • @TheSlantedLens
      @TheSlantedLens  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      300d
      it's always better to have more. because you can't do anything if you don't have enough.

    For me as a DP leds are not interesting so much. First of all they are still not color accurate for use as key light. Second -- they are not as powerfull, maybe comparable with 575, so even it is daylight balanced, it's can't compete with daylight. They has a fans and are noisy for sound department.
    I like leds in RGB (W,A,UV) fixtures -- it's really much better than gels for color effects and they are dynamic)

    • @TheSlantedLens
      @TheSlantedLens  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you taken a look at Aputure's products? They make some great color accurate daylight balanced LEDs that are also affordable!

    • @luttekikker
      @luttekikker 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you have any advice on types of lights? I am looking at a lot of different Aputure lights at this moment (I owe 2 AA battery powered Aputure LED panels now (colour corrected version) www.amazon.com/Aputure-H198c-Camera-Bicolor-Temperature/dp/B00NXDNVU2/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1516479061&sr=8-3-fkmr0&keywords=aputure+amaran+al-h198+°C) at this moment, but I noticed that the power is not enough in bigger area's. I use both ledlights with 6xAA batteries now.

    It's titled "for VIDEOgraphers"... and then just talks about lights for STILL photography !!!

    • @TheSlantedLens
      @TheSlantedLens  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure you watched the whole video because is talks about the still photography lighting principles that are making their way into mainstream video lighting. Take another pass of the video and see what it says.
