Man... He was amazing. But can we take a moment and appreciate his impossibly tight band? Only a group as strong as them could carry the likes of SRV to do the things he did, I feel.
After Stevie Ray Vaughan's passing, double trouble picked up W/KWS,& ALSO OTHER PERFORMERS BUT,,,NOBODY BRUNG OUT THE TIGHT GROOVE OF THE BAND, DOUBLE TROUBLE, BETTER THAN SRV.
STEVIE RAY used the Rounded end of his pick when he played. So if SRV used that guitar pick, the top right of the pick should be WORN down more,by the Y in RAY, his signature Stevie Ray Vaughan picks. The only way I knew that,, I was backstage with Stevie Ray Vaughan talking with him for about a half hour on June 26th 1990, talking Shop. Nobody was backstage because Joe cocker just went on stage, & Stevie opened for Joe Cocker that nite...& BTW, his first string was 11 GAUGE STRING that night..GHS .
Stevie Ray VAUGHAN and DOUBLE TROUBLE were such a talented group of musicians. Ah, the gifts and talents of Mr. VAUGHAN's were blessings from above. May SRV be with the Lord above.
even STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN names tells us HEY! VIVA! RAN A STAGE the audience is either dead, or they just can't believe their eyes Thanks for the Music, Stevie!
Scuttle Buttin' has reached mythic status .. especially among guitar players .. ( WARNING: long guitar nerd rant ) ... There is a lot of talk among guitar players about how to play this main riff - in the video, Stevie slides into the notes, with that very first note being the one most hotly debated - some say, in the studio, Stevie bent that first note and then played the rest of the lick sliding into the notes .. I do believe that one of the engineers or band members has talked about Stevie bending the note(s), only to change it when it came time to play live ..... In the Montreux video, after the lead break, Stevie does something I have not seen in other vids - he bends the first note going back into that lick .. I think he bends the first note on the studio version, too ..... I was fortunate enough to see Stevie live in 1987, and the vibe in that place was like nothing I have ever experienced .. He was truly loved by the fans, the greatest of all time
Thats Tommy looking at Whipper Layton saying..."Stevie is in rare form tonight' Tommy Shannon and Stevie were long time friends. Tommy is still around. Great guy.
Bass player laying it down like a brick layer - bad ass, especially when Stevie laid on that one note for like 4 measures, bass player eating it up like a buffet!!!
I worked for months and taught myself that beginning riff. Its CRAZY but i eventually was able to do it! He's a musical genius. I just watched REAL CLOSE in slow motion of him doing it and compared it to what tablature was telling me and i got it. It's.. hard to explain. I doubt i can still do it, but since I'm planning on getting back into guitar ill have it back down soon. I used to bust it out when people weren't impressed with anything i was playing lol
jan, I don't know if you ever found it, but it's Stevie Ray Vaughan at Starwood here in Nashville 9/6/87. Stevie's entire performance is here on You Tube. It was when he was at the Volunteer Jam that year......
I came home from school one day and my Mom was on the couch crying. I asked her what was wrong and she said Stevie Ray Vaughn died. But he left his mark and his influence runs deep to this day. Not too long ago I found an all girl Korean rock band on You Tube. They are called Rolling Quartz. The girl playing Scuttle Buttin' in the link I have attached is named Iree and I love her and her bandmates amazing talents. Watch her play this this Dallas, TX. I love how much fun they have with this song. Please enjoy! th-cam.com/video/mtTBC-vtGWw/w-d-xo.html
Man, that lick he plays from 0:01 - 2:22 is amazing
😅
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
that's why i came here. A guuitar teacher posted a short saying it's the hardest blues riff to play. I believe him
Man... He was amazing. But can we take a moment and appreciate his impossibly tight band? Only a group as strong as them could carry the likes of SRV to do the things he did, I feel.
the fact that he introduced the piano/organ made a huge dynamic change in the band. which filled the gap for the jimmy fills in their albums.
And in interviews, he always says “we” as in the whole band when people only try to credit him. SRV was and still is the man.
After Stevie Ray Vaughan's passing, double trouble picked up W/KWS,& ALSO OTHER PERFORMERS BUT,,,NOBODY BRUNG OUT THE TIGHT GROOVE OF THE BAND, DOUBLE TROUBLE, BETTER THAN SRV.
That's why they were Double Trouble
@@gjmarkjesse1324 Yes he was as humble as he was talented.
Back in the 80's I use to travel around and set up concerts. I still have one of SRV guitar picks. RIP Stevie. Thanks for sharing.
Timothy J Evans That’s AWSOME! Was it a used pick?
THAT is priceless. No doubt you will treasure it forever.🙏♥️🇺🇲✌
I’ll buy it from you lol

How many people had to check their playback speed when you started watching to make sure you didn't leave it at 2X?
Its 156 bpm, that's just insane 😳
At first until I saw strumming and him tapping his foot 🤣
0:00-0:01 the expesssion of not giving a fuck n shredding gives me chills up my spine!
its a miracle the guitar didn't burst into flames and vaporize in his hands.... I bet the sound STILL would've been coming out of him.

Came here to say exactly this. Thanks Jesus Christ.

He doesnt open his eyes once during this performance. Another reason why it's amazing. Along with a million others
He had A LOT of practice 😉
The inimitable Stevie Ray Vaughan
Lo amo mucho, me deja sin palabras
Nothing short of amazing!!
To Play Like SRV........Means Going Into The Zone Only He Himself Can Enter.
These videos just leave me speachless.
Thats funny,
SRV is a legend.
He really had passion.
There ain't much more to say than BADASS!!! RIP Stevie 😢💔
The ones that dont know how to play the guitar, want to be like him. The ones that do play, have already quited after this video
I like how he casually finds an steps on the foot effect box while playing at 240mph
Bro he turned up the knob to 10😂 an animal, playing that quick while doing that

Although I will say I was never able to do it nearly as fast as him
how is anything of his guitar left after playing this song so many years?! O.O
Lmao there wasn't much left. Before he died it was forced to get an entirely new neck, as he wore the original past saving
😮lost in a world of his own 😮❤❤❤
GOAT
Legend
he’s truly legendary
Más que un maestro. ¡¡Extraordinario!! Demasiado virtuoso el man.
OMG like no other every time I hear that man...
What have I just seen ??? no need for drums no need for base he is it all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
People think of him as a blues player, but boy could he let rip!
Stevie at his finest....Where was this show? He loved to open his shows with this and it would just sizzle

Jonas Forsberg I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it
Amazing! That looks like a Tube Driver
I have one of his guitar picks. He handed it to me. I also have one of Jeff Hannemans picks
0:14 the guy standing with thumbs in his pocket is like I'm gonna try this lick at home but he won't because there is no internet

Don't try this without warming up...
Pine Knob!
SRV is GOD.
Thats how you warm up your pinky finger.
There are people casually getting out of their seats and walking up the stairs with the their backs to this performance. Are they deaf and blind?
GOD.
Lou Reed Yes?
No it’s SRV

Camera man in front of him clearly never played a guitar.

I still don't understand how he flat picks the entire thing. I can't even play it if I'm not hybrid picking.

The audio on this is awful, look elsewhere for this video.
This Song has no vocals? 😂 lol

It will always remain a mystery why one of the most exciting guitarist had the most boring drummer in his band.
A god of the guitar
