Chinese and their obsession with this part of India they don't look like Chinese people they are more Swarty looking they look more like people from Burma some can pass though. Although they have more similarly to tribes in Burma it's just that when the borders where made the Naga hills came on the Indian side so now they are Indians. Anyways the region is in India they are Indian citizens now, otherwise these tribes would be fighting with tribes in Burma all the times since Burma has been in a constant Civil War since the independence of the country because non of the tribes in Burma get along well. It's better these people stay with India.
At the time that India gained its independence in 1947, there were only 3 states in North East India - Assam, and the princely states of Manipur and Tripura. Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Nagaland were part of the larger territory of Assam. Eventually, they got separated to form their own distinct states.
Thank you for your amazing videos, it shows me that someone can virtually travel anywhere in the world, with some planning, make friends, and have a good time.
Just a few years back in that region (Mon District), the Indian army killed 14 unarmed Naga villagers for no reason. They were not even part of the Naga rebel groups but the Indian army still killed them. And if India was a sane state the soldiers involved would face consequences, but the army protected the culprits and let them go free.
"...Nagaland may not be the most prosperous part of India, certainly not prosperous od Sikkhim but I love the people". Yes ,people there are nice but poor. Coz if they are rich, they won't be Christian. They become Christian coz they hate what Hindu's government treats them. So badly. So racist. In this turbulence situation, Christian missionaries take their chance.
@@kunalmarathe5542I totally understand AFSPA from the perspective of the government of India and her military but it has done nothing but cause the worst tragedies in naga territories. Countless stories of villages being rounded up, tortures, rapes and so on were committed since the 60s. A whole village lost all its men when the Sikh regiment beheaded every male in the pochury region. Men being buried alive and even tied up for target practice are a few examples of atrocities committed. I can never look at AFSPA as a policy that does any good. It's basically the opposite of the Geneva convention.
I'm from nagaland, born in 85 in a small village on the western side of nagaland, growing up I've heard the atrocities committed by the Indian army towards the innocent public irrespective of their tribes, just because some of our people are in the "rebel army"! ,it just can't be said in a short comment... I still remember one incident, it was in 97 ,one evening, we heard gunshots, EVERYBODY,I said EVERYBODY from my Village (about 1000 household) got panicked, some grabbed water bottles, torch lights, blankets ,their kids, machetes etc and began fleeing towards the deep forest here and there, at home it was my pregnant mom, me (the oldest) a sister, a younger differently abled brother (dad went to the city just a few days back for his studies) mom told me to grab the torchlight, water bottle and my brother's diapers and a few warm clothes and to hold my sister's hand and "run up to the mountain", mom carried my brother on her back and we began hurrying up to the mountain, when we reached there , there's a lot of people in the woods, there, the older men instructed everyone to "women and kids below 10 " to a specific area ,and kids above 10 and youths to a particular area and the rest of the older folks to the front, we weren't allowed to cry because "if the Indian army find us they'll beat us and kill our parents and young women will be taken away"! .. that memory still remains in my mind, as an adult I've been all over mainland India for work purposes and I've met wonderful people from mainland India and made friends with them but deep down inside me , I cannot accept that I am an Indian,it was forced down on me, ofc sure ,no doubt, India is a great country, there's good and bad, i understand that the regular citizens of mainland India doesn't have anything to do with the "issue" but history cannot be erased, right!? 2 millions Nagas have died since 1950. And I am not sympathetic towards the rebels either. If these bloody dimwits have a slight of shine in them ,the general naga populace won't have to suffer so much. The past Rebel army have at least a sense of principle, moral, ethics and integrity to them but these days ,they are shameless and remorseful. The Mon incident is one of the many they have swept under the rug all these years,if they weren't caught red handed they'll be saying " militants killed"! Just as usual. Do you know? Nagaland, including the other 6 North East Indian state is under Marital law since the 70's?? It is called the Armed forces special power act (AFSPA) .. giving the free right to the Indian Army to shoot and kill anybody on a mere suspicion.
@@thisnthat7760 As an Indian I feel if majority of nagas in nagaland wants independent they should be given independence ,but if not then Nagaland should be accepted, considered ,regarded as Indian as Karnataka or up or bengal is .AFSA act should be repealed from all nagaland,as now it's comparatively peaceful there...pros and cons for being with india,or independent from india should be discussed, studied people made aware and then referendum should be done... economic -social-educational basis should all be considered

Great video brother. I'll have to put Nagaland on my long bucket list. One of the first people I met the first time I travelled to Nepal in 1982 was a man who had immigrated from Nagaland and set up a small bakery and cafe in Lakeside Pokhara - Santi Bakery.. We became good friends for many years until he passed away in the early 1990s (possibly from the effects of too much ganja and raxi/alcochol). I spent many happy hours with him in Pokhara, Nepal snacking on his "special" apple muffins and "special: brownies. sharing a glass of local raxi and a chillum of ganja :-) RIP Kamal Singh Lama. Jai Nagaland. Jai Nepal.
Господи, это место невероятно красивое. И немного христианства меня поразило. скоро приеду в Нагаленд, а пока с любовью 🇷🇺 мой вопрос к нагам, в каком месяце мне следует посетить?
Best time to visit Nagaland is from December 1 to 10. All tribes from Nagaland come together and display a vibrant cultural show. Event is call Hornbill festival. You google it and everything is there
Man, you are my new favorite vlogger without question. From Tanzania drinking banana wine with the local ladies, to Rasta's in Ethiopia, ... New York, the next minute with the illegal workers.. Now, you're there giving first hand accounts.. fantastic stuff! Love what you do. Head over to Thailand and hang at the beach for a bit. Would love to host you for a day or two. Much love, Brother...
I still don't understand why travel vloggers only stay in big cities in India... There is SO MUCH diversity in India's ecosystems (10 I believe)... I just don't understand why anyone would want to travel to a big city in India... There is constant noise, pollution, trash everywhere, annoying people, scammers, and nothing too amazing to see. Go see the diversity of a country as big as India... Don't stay in the terrible huge cities where you will never experience peace. Go experience nature.
The Naga people are so chill and friendly, and the young people in the village can speak and understand English pretty well, which I believe might be better than the average in India. They look a lot like Chinese or Tibetan people and their language also resembles Tibetan. Amazing!
Looks like you landed yourself in the easternmost part of nagaland. In comparison to the central part of the state, this side of nagaland is fairly underdeveloped (infrastructure wise) but the people are warm and welcoming nonetheless. AND the continued echoes of "happy new year" isn't an euphemism😆 We Nagas tend to extend our new year greetings till the first two or three months of the new year. Friendly bunch we are indeed.
It's nice that street vendors often invite you for food but those especially friendly people I would immediately give money (like 5$), it doesn't hurt you and would make their day!!
If you come in the Phillipines, try to go in Baguio,Cordillera,Mt.Province.Igorot from this place has the same features like the Nagalands. They speak English better than Tagalog. You have a very informative vlog.God bless!
Happy New Year may not be an euphemism. Many buddhist countries like Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia and Sri Lanka celebrated some form of new year this week.
As Someone who spent my childhood in the northeast India, I can say it's one of the most beautiful places to live. I lived in Zemabawk, Mizoram; Dimapur, Nagaland and Gangtok, Sikkim. About the racism part, it goes both ways. When I was in the school, the mizo kids used to bully the kids who are a few shades darker than them. The vendors, renters ...etc scam us by charging more money than locals, It was a common thing, hearing many non locals getting mugged.
Myanmar 🇲🇲, among of the closest relatives of North East Indian tribes in term or race, cultural and historical heritage, shares many thing in common of the civilization timelines with India: Buddhism, writing system, poetry (Kabya, from Pali: Kavi), etc. Tibet, Nepal-Himalayas, and even Thai tribes in Yun Nan share lots of common with Indian cultural than with China. India is the natural ally of SouthEast Asia, sharing cultural & historical background with SouthEast Asian 🇮🇳🧡.
Considering the health, social development, people's education and IQ, racial differences, no Southeast Asian would want to have anything to do with Indians (except the Northeastern states). Southeast Asians and East Asians have more similarities. Only Hinduism and Buddhism in India have influenced East and Southeast Asians, which is different from Indian culture
@@marklee2337there is no such thing as dinduism . It's word given by muslims . All of neighbouring states are Buddhists where nagas originate and they were Buddhist as well that's where word Naga originate. They converted only recently to Christianity during British times .

Not every Indian call them Chinese.. Some uneducated and insensitive people do so..i have seen so many of them working happily in noida Delhi Bengaluru...we don't need any foreigner to lecture us... people of NE should be aware of this type of foreign people...we are the people of United India..
I would agree with the racist part, Indians on the mainland will think anyone having facial structure similar to south east asian or east Asian to be Chinese
@@pablosilva5443 it is that if you tell them that you are from northeast then no one will be surprised. It's pretty common knowledge. It's not like they are getting denied of something in the country. Now try going to East Asian countries as an Indian and see if you are able to enter some of the restaurants. North eastern are even exempted from few taxes and get reservation in government jobs. But yeah "wE dOnt wanT tO bE iNdiAns". I don't think they will be able to survive Myanmar or Chinese if left out. Go see how much freedom Tibet and Myanmar citizens got. The more you spoil the kids the more bratty they get.

You go to most interesting places and make good real time off the beaten path footage . Kinda like Anthony Bourdain (RIP) but on another next level, especially with the language and the wit. (But you should’ve walked right past the lady guard at the camp in NYC) all good though. Keep up the good work!
I'm Chinese, we indeed looks almost the same. Their hospitality really impress me.
Thank you xie xie
Xin ping is relative of mine 😢. But now he is big man
Chinese and their obsession with this part of India they don't look like Chinese people they are more Swarty looking they look more like people from Burma some can pass though.
You don't have to feel happy or sad for them they are Indians they live in peace then Civil Wars in Burma.
@@Roy1-ub9ijChinese obsess?
Chinese don't even know what the F is this
At the time that India gained its independence in 1947, there were only 3 states in North East India - Assam, and the princely states of Manipur and Tripura. Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Nagaland were part of the larger territory of Assam. Eventually, they got separated to form their own distinct states.
Yup because they wanted their own legislatives
I mean who asked? 😂
In another word , they were invaded and annexed by the Indian
You should ask for Independence
Lol 💩💩💩💩, nagas were not under assam Or any indian state, nagas were independent. You're from manipur who spreads lies
Awww .,.... Im from Delhi . We love our Nagas . Theyre a nice proud lot .
India is saner then your mother and you luckily
Another great video bro. Very informative as always and with ur comedic flare. Love when u post especially on a weekend (for me still. Monday for u already)
Jai Nepal.
Very unique experience . Thank you for the video . India is a fascinating place. First time to watch videos about entire regions of India.

NOW, Nagaland?!?!?! Dude, out of control!!! ^_^ I want to drive from Thailand to India and looked at the route that goes through Nagaland so began to research about a year ago. Now, you're there giving first hand accounts.. fantastic stuff! Love what you do. Head over to Thailand and hang at the beach for a bit. Would love to host you for a day or two. Much love, Brother...
Love you happy new year Tommy!
Tommy smokin was the icing on the cake LOL, amazing video man
I still don't understand why travel vloggers only stay in big cities in India...
Well then why don't you recommend me a place to visit in India then?
@@ponuninagaland 🤷🏻♂️

Visit every districts in Nagaland bro, don't worry about food and accommodations, we will provide you for free brother .
The Naga people are so chill and friendly, and the young people in the village can speak and understand English pretty well, which I believe might be better than the average in India. They look a lot like Chinese or Tibetan people and their language also resembles Tibetan. Amazing!
“y’all are Nagas?” gnarly vid as usual man be safe out there lmaoo
😂
Sup my Naga?
Naga plz
Naga what
Nagaland is safer then the rest of India, no worries bro carry on 👍
EXCELLENT video, love your videos and commentary . This is the type of travel I love and see myself doing for a long time
Nice, I wish North East India keep peaceful and always be part of India's unity 🇮🇳.
Mainland India discriminate us by calling chinky momo so that's why they want to be a separate country

The population density is less since it's a hilly state. It still looks quite populated. Also that's only few of the towns he visited not a big city.

It's nice that street vendors often invite you for food but those especially friendly people I would immediately give money (like 5$), it doesn't hurt you and would make their day!!

That was really something. Never new about this place

love the videos man, all the way from Fresno California
Happy New Year may not be an euphemism. Many buddhist countries like Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia and Sri Lanka celebrated some form of new year this week.
As Someone who spent my childhood in the northeast India, I can say it's one of the most beautiful places to live. I lived in Zemabawk, Mizoram; Dimapur, Nagaland and Gangtok, Sikkim. About the racism part, it goes both ways. When I was in the school, the mizo kids used to bully the kids who are a few shades darker than them. The vendors, renters ...etc scam us by charging more money than locals, It was a common thing, hearing many non locals getting mugged.
amazing videos. i love your japan series. i hope you visit underrated places in kerala, meghalaya and spiti someday. it'll be awesome

Myanmar 🇲🇲, among of the closest relatives of North East Indian tribes in term or race, cultural and historical heritage, shares many thing in common of the civilization timelines with India:
Buddhism, writing system, poetry (Kabya, from Pali: Kavi), etc.
Tibet, Nepal-Himalayas, and even Thai tribes in Yun Nan share lots of common with Indian cultural than with China.
India is the natural ally of SouthEast Asia, sharing cultural & historical background with SouthEast Asian 🇮🇳🧡.
No, Indian brahmins think Nepali and north east mongolide people are untouchable in their religion
No one thinks like that anymore I am not even a Brahmin but stop spreading nusiance everywhere@@devrai8646

The way you integrate into any society, respect their rules, and try to fully comprehend them by learning their language is admirable.
I hope to one day go to some fascinating country of the beaten track and learn to speak their language!
The church you visited is the biggest church in Asia after taking the position of Sumi Baptish Church which is also in Nagaland.
Not every Indian call them Chinese..
Some uneducated and insensitive people do so..i have seen so many of them working happily in noida Delhi Bengaluru...we don't need any foreigner to lecture us... people of NE should be aware of this type of foreign people...we are the people of United India..
🤓☝️um actually being racist is trend in india it doesn't matter
I like nagaland
While you're in North eastern state of India you should totally visit Mizoram
It's worth to visit i promise.❤
I would agree with the racist part, Indians on the mainland will think anyone having facial structure similar to south east asian or east Asian to be Chinese
We know about non tribals in northeast. This victimhood mentality is exposed.
@@nikhilchaubey7explain what it is
@@pablosilva5443 it is that if you tell them that you are from northeast then no one will be surprised.
