Bruh those low notes are insanely good. Like HOW?? (edit: I know it’s practice. But even for people who practice a lot it’s still hard to get a strong low register. I’m just amazed because of how well he plays.) (edit 2: I made the band :))
Nathan Bailey imo low notes are easier for me to hit but harder for me to center. High notes for me are harder to hit, but easier to sound better once I develop it. My lower register is like bLeUgHhhhhh.
It’s not the music you need to practice, it’s the fundamentals. Don’t even worry about the song. Just work on range building, tounging, slurring, tone, and low notes. I promise it will pay off
Thank you so so so much for this! I was looking at my all region music and I was like "what am I looking at?". Now at least I have a better idea of what it is supposed to sound like and how I should play it😁
Thank God for those insane octave skips in did in middle school i can play this whole piece without a problem bc of they here a tip for bass notes. Do some arpageos in the lower range like middle c to e above then go down to low c if you can use 13 to go to g below c them open to hit double low c if you can do this your good 👍for high range do octave skips as high as you can
Congratulations on your channel. I just subscribed. You are a good example for me when it comes to playing the horn for your impeccable style. One question, although they have asked you many times: What mouthpiece do you use?
My private lesson teacher said that if we wanted to play low notes, we had to drag the corners of our lips down, and it works, but I don't see this guy really change is mouth. Is it the camera angle or does he use an alternative method?
Sorry, Mark, but in order to ensure a tight seal on your face with the respirator, you'll need to shave your beard. Placing a respirator on an unshaved face is as effective as not wearing one at all. Just a public service announcement from a fellow horn player who is a construction safety advisor. And I fully realize that this is a parody and a slam against the plandemic.
This fellow needs to learn how to produce a clean attack. All of his attacks throughout the piece are muddy. It makes for ugly sounding playing. A proper attack should be as clean, crisp, and clear as the sound of a hard mallet striking a bell. Otherwise, he does well.
It's not like a professional french horn player who's played for almost 30 years and had done etudes like this and harder with not much better sounding articulation because you can't get much better than that. Idk if you play an instrument but I'm guessing not and the french horn is not the easiest thing to articulate in any way and the mic he is using is using is probably getting more of the articulation than normal. He also said that this etude is very difficult
@@codybdaw7418 You know its weird, it seems like no one agrees with me but it sounds like every note he plays is tounge stopped... like without the added echo everything would sound super clipped Like listen to 0:10 and imagine it without the echo for example
As a French horn player, those bass notes tho :0
His low range is BEEFY
I know right! I wish I could play that well in my low register.
Maples hahaha
I wish I could jump like that
pedal tooonneee iiisssss CANCER. Who created this for the french horn?? just use a tuba because pedal tone is in tuba range! REEEEE
As a euphonium player, I'm pretty entertained by this etude

Welp guess it’s time to hit that all-state grind again. Thanks to Houghton it will be a little easier.

We all know we didn’t come for his playing 😉
Nah we did😂
so slowwwwwww. it's supposed to be half=150. play like you want to win.

I would love to hear a better performance of this etude but I am guessing you aren’t really going to find one.
