      Hello! College freshman here.
College is really different from high school. In high school you have a full day with lessons and work time for a full year (typically). In college you just go to lecture and do all of your work outside of class (typically) for one semester (then you pick new courses for your next semester). This means that whatever takes a year to teach in high school, is taught in 16 weeks in college (it can be hard at times, but I have survived so far haha).
It depends on the classes that you take, but they tend to be challenging. I definitely recommend doing concurrent enrollment or take AP classes to at least get a feel of what College courses are like (if you aren't already). For concurrent enrollment, some schools may give free tuition or tuition scholarships. So it is definitely worth looking into if your high school allows it.
I am currently taking 15 credit hours which is basically 5 classes. One 4 credit, one 2 credit, and three 3 credit classes. Make sure to pick the course load that works for you.
I hope that this was helpful. For more information, you should talk with a school counselor or get in contact with an admissions counselor at the school that you want to go to. Your college academic advisor should help you with with picking classes.
College was scary at first, but once you get used to it, it can be a lot of fun! Make sure to meet good people, join a club, and go to some games.
Good luck! You will do great!

@@f0xtai168 hi also a college freshman! super different experience from this guy- but back to back classes can be A LOT. HOWEVER- its not always a bad thing (as far as my experience). im commuting to college so its a lot more beneficial to take a lot of classes per day rather than them being spread out. my commute is about 35 minutes so being at college lets say (next semester) 8a to 8p tuesdays and thursdays is actually super great for me!! for me that opens up the ability to work again on my days off- and also have a free sunday off :) however typically you are not commuting (and youre also not an art major who doesnt get much hw minus art- which never feels like hw). so spreading out your classes is super essential! unlike hs where you can have hour classes back to back- you now have more like 3 hour classes. so in a sense youre getting 3x more out of a single class than 3 hs classes combined! its all fun stuff to think about once you get to college- but its really all about finding a schedule that works for you. best of luck in your future endeavors ❤️

Yep, I always feel so self-conscious and uncomfortable in sweats. I genuinely feel more comfortable and like myself when I’m dressed up, since my style is an important part of my identity. I have a chronic illness that’s affected every aspect of my life since my freshman year of college. I now struggle to hold a pen, and had to drop my music major because I can’t hold a bow, my meds make me so foggy I’m not as smart anymore, I can’t draw or paint for long anymore either, and I can’t do any lifting without triggering my nerve pain. Some of the most important pieces of my identity are gone now. What I do have left is the ability to do some makeup and get dressed. So when I’m having an especially tough day, looking like the me that I identify with does make me feel better. I’ve lost too much at this point, I don’t want to lose the image of myself that the world sees too.

But I didn’t have a choice in the matter. I can’t drive and my grandpa was always working on M/W/F, so I had no choice but to suck it up and go through that hellhole of a schedule.

Kids don’t think to pack one. I guess nobody thinks about how they’ll be walking 10 minutes or more to get to the next class outside. Most kids in the US go to school via the bus or car and their schools either have all the classes in one building or covered walkways to get to the outdoor ones. Never having to deal with rain during school makes them forget that will be an issue at university, hence why they don’t get rain gear.

After going through my whole life having to do class after class I ain’t gonna make my schedule like that.
I need a mental break after each thing, maybe even add in a few notes I forgot or didn’t have time for.
I also just need time to process the information before I’m thrown into the next thing

This is all very accurate. When I was a freshman, I brought an umbrella a couple months in, and literally, on day one, I left it in a lab room and never saw it again. And yeah. Don't even bother dressing up for college classes. You won't find it worth that effort after a while.

As the semesters go on I am slowly becoming more and more raggedy.
Went from : wearing makeup, eyeshadow and all, nice outfit everyday, hair made correctly
To : “I almost never got up from my bed but I managed to put clothes on in and brush my hair quickly in 10 minutes to leave”
Sorry but waking up at 5 am and coming back home at like 7 pm is my death. Then I sleep for 15 hours straight and forget to study and then cry over my results to then do the same thing and I just want this to be over someone please save me please please I’ve been having exams FOR 5 WEEKS STRAIGHT I’M GONNA BREAK AND I’M TIRED OF LEARNING EVERY LYMPH NODE IN THE BODY 😭😭😭😭

I dressed up every day for college because it was one of the only things that brought me joy. It just depends on if you’re refreshed by being able to dress down or dressing in cute clothes makes you feel better. Do become an expert about how to dress cute AND comfy though because that is crucial.

yes, umbrella is a MUST. as for timetable, depending on how big your uni you may not get a choice of when your classes are (i didnt). as for dressing up, i still dress up for uni. im one semester in already and still get dressed and do my makeup for my 8am classes, cause i graduated high school last year and was getting up at 6am anyway, ive stuck to that routine

Grateful to past me though, I wouldn't be able to graduate after covid hit if I didn't have most of my classes out of the way already, I've lost all motivation and care about school, and honestly my will to live took a nose dive I'm still recovering from.
