Loved the video. Do not like rotaries. When I was racing the rotary engined cars were all you heard. (Just joking.) Looking forward to learning more about rotaries in the coming episodes. Loved your maching work. Very clever.
Lol yeah they do have a reputation as being very loud, especially the high HP ones. This will be in my road car so won't be too loud when done but still know when it's coming down the road.
Lol, if you look closely in the background of some of the shots you can see Dad's gyrocopter. My uncle also has an ultralight. Drive, float or fly we got it covered lol
Hey Variety is good and it does say shed. Put it in the Launch on a surface drive probably get 50 knots. Nice job on the lathe work all those shavings melted down make ya another peice of stock. Digital takes all the fun outa stuff good to see the ole vernier getting to stretch there legs. Gonna be interesting to see how this goes. Ya did measure the width to see if it still fits in engine bay eh....... keep at it. ;0)
Thanks mate, yeah back when I did my apprenticeship there was no DROs on any of the machines. I do like CNC but the art of accurately operating a manual machine is slowly disappearing. I did measure the bay before hand and I know I will have to notch the firewall but it's the bonnet clearance that's going to be tight.
@@HarpersShed don't even get me started mate 🤣 my list of regretful sales is heartbreaking. RX4 coupe, mini Clubman, two mini mokes, numerous HQ-HZ Holdens.... including a HJ 4 door Monaro, and lastly a mint Datsun 1200 sedan. I know you can't keep them all....they were just old cars back then. Worth bugger all. But looking at the prices of some of those vehicles now, and knowing what I sold them for, I kinda feel sick in the guts 😂 As they say ....c'est la vie

Lol, now that would cause a comments up rising. Funny thing is it will be around 400hp when done and a redline of 8000rpm with way more torque then the diesel and less then half the weight. Although it would use ten times the fuel it would sound cool.
Interesting but geez stonkered. All that went over my head and I never felt the breeze. Never mind keep up the good work bloke! Maybe I should get you to do my iload 2.4 petrol, and tighten down the head right so it don't spit my oil out the exhaust. Thanks m8 keep goin!
Thanks for the support mate. Machining can be a hard thing to explain sometimes. Unfortunately I don't do work for the general public anymore, I don't have enough time to do my own work lately. If your local I can recommend a good mechanic that I trust that could help.
@@HarpersShed No, not local unfortunately. was trying to be facitious. The weather'd be heaps better anyway if I was. My mechanic'll catch it, we are doin the gearbox cables at the moment, stay away from these ergonomic vehicles stay with linkages. 🙂 Keep up the god work.
Vibration is a very valid concern but I am not to worried about the crank pulley causing issues. The bulk of the machining work was done in one setup ensure concentricity of the part. When I turned it around and bored the inside I also set it up with a dial indicator so there was no run out. If everything is machined so it's not out of round then it "should" be balanced and cause no issues.
I'm here for the 13b supercharged! Your thinking around 350 hp is that the m90 supercharger? There cheap as dirt here in the states! Ive been watching and waiting for results!! Very exciting! I have kids too the projects don't get done nearly as fast now... cheers from Washington state
Hey mate, Yeah I'm hoping for around 350hp with the M90. Time will tell if it has enough airflow to make that sort of power but it's all a bit of an experiment. Unfortunately things are not progressing as quickly as I would like with the build but work is still happening in the background mate so stay tuned 👍

You are right it does look really odd and unbalanced you will probably suffer with engine mounting wear on that side, leaving it like that would drive me nuts I would not be able to stop thinking about it so if you can turn a blind eye to it good luck.
Back when I was a wee lass in the 70 my best friends brother had a plastic see through wankel motor the sparkies even lit up it was soo cool.
They are a cool design, I am a massive rotary fan and can't wait to get the rx7 on the road
As I said in a previous comment, whatever you are working on makes great entertainment.
Thanks for the encouragement mate, wasn't sure how the different content would go but still getting some views.

The motor is looking good. You have a nice shop ,and do amazing work. Wish I had ur skill
Thank you bud, that is actually Dad's shop though. Unfortunately I don't quite have the gear he does just yet. There isn't much we can't do in there.
keep posting about this please it's fueling my swap project e30 13b supercharged❤️👍

That Mace engineering is the same company as here in Christchurch. I've dealt with them alot and have always found them brilliant
