  • New IP, injectors, gp's and controller. Ignore the twisted diesel sticker
    11/16/2017 Update:
    Long since sold the truck. Sold it 3 years ago actually. You all have great input for others to read when they encounter this problem on their IDI's.
    To anyone who's reading this far, I sold the truck 3 years ago, and back in August 2017 I saw the same truck listed on craigslist for $500. Apparently the guy who bought it from me said that as soon as he brought it home, he couldn't get it started, so it he parked it and never touched it.I couldn't buy it at the time for $500, but I got to thinking about it today and wished that I could've bought it. It would smoke, but who cares - I know that It ran. Oh well, maybe I'll see this old truck pop up on craigslist again.

    Just saw your video, did you ever figure out your smoking issue? Did it smoke before you changed the pump injectors? And did you time it yet. Timing will also affect the way it smokes too much timing will make it smoke not enough timing will make it smoke lol

    Looks bluish black to me but I would check your CDR valve

  • @davidleonard8667
    @davidleonard8667 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It could be as simple as bad fuel, or it could be retarded pump timing. You say the pump was fresh, are you sure it was installed with the correct timing? Also, the cdr valve could need cleaning. Lastly, it could be your engine needs a rebuild (rings and valve seals). How many miles does the truck (motor) have on it?

    My truck blew whitish smoke when i changed my injection pump.. i had forgotten to dial in the timing and it was blowing out unburned fuel.. once i set the timing the smoke turned black then I adjusted the fuel screw n boom was perfect.. I’d advise on using an egt gauge before messing with mixture...

      @AtomsForFuel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, remember back when I had it I changed the IP as well and the same thing. I did reset the timing like I was supposed to, but it still smoked no matter what. Was probably low compression and just like you said unburned diesel. oh well. I dont have the truck anymore, but I did see it for sale not too long ago.

      BeepBoopSpace could have also been worn out injectors. If they drip fuel between cycles it’s possible for it to be smoking

      @@mikecorleone6797 No doubt, you are right. I made sure all of them were changed out and replaced. It could have been air in the lines thats always a pain to purge out fully

      BeepBoopSpace oh yea.. i hated running out of fuel (fuel gauge didn’t work) it is always a dance to get her goin again when I forget to fill up.. worth it though.. that stack you have there sounds killer. Waiting for ups to drop off my new turbo and I’m contemplating running a stack too.

    To be honest i think you got low compression and the blueish smoke at idle and such is likely because of your blowby pressure forcing oil past the valve guides and CDR valve I am in same boat been there and done this many times 90% of time its a compression issue with our motors factory our 2nd ring gap is super wide International had the bright idea it was a good idea problem was once our engines wear the blowby goes thru the roof.

    I know its late, you may of found the answer to your problem by now, but i also just changed a glow plug, 8 injectors and return lines, and i also had that white smoke it took about two weeks for that to stop, maybe i had air in the system because it sat open for a month waiting for my parts in the mail..again sorry that i just answered, but today was the first day i seen your video..

    • @rickcooperjr62864

      you likely had cylinder glazing due to improper fuel spray / burn our engines are prone to this if our fuel isnt forced hard against the bottom of the flame cup in bootom of our heads we dont get our fuel atomized properly which will lead to cylinder glazing.

    You are definitely on the right track if it consumes oil that's where the white smoke's coming from turn up the fuel screw and see what it does just do like a quarter turn

      @@sterlingwitherspoon5709 Starving of fuel from injector pump can cause white smoke as well as oil. Sometimes it’s hard to tell when it’s a mix of blueish white

    Either it’s got bad timing or the rings are shot, if you open the oil cap & see blow by there’s your answer.

      My 7.3 has only 160k miles but the previous owner got it addicted to ether so I imagine a rering kit is in order. Likes to white smoke on start up and will not start when hot unless you pour a little gasoline on the air cleaner.

    I have a 1990 f250 lariat 4wheel drive 7.3 idi Diesel that smoked like this when I first got it,Ended up being a bad pump in the fuel tank which led to me replacing it and also having to replace the dam plug injection pump”600$” due to lil bits of rust/Corrosion getting into the fuel line and injection pump itself 😔😔😔 fixed the problem..also u can increase and decrease the amount of fuel going to the engine
    More Fuel ⛽️ =more smoke 💨 lol

    your fuel is not burning all the way in one cylinder... possible that you have a bad cylinder or cylinders due to bad compression I would compression test it

    water in fuel did you drain your water separator and fuel heater too did you clean it out and put power up diesel conditioner in your fuel
    to help brake in your in injectors
    thats your best bet

      Alexia Turner or bad pump in your fuel tanks cuz some 1990 f250s like mine had 2 tanks with a Dule Fuel pump that would end up getting pieces of corrosion which would get into the damn fuel system and fuck up your pump injector which It did to mine 600$ new lol
