Now this is what TH-cam is really for! .. absolutely brilliant!! This is easily the most balanced sensible depiction of Belfast and it's tragic history of division... This should be broadcast on television! I'm not afraid to say after watching this I had a tear in my eye... Especially at the end ... Thank you! Liked and subscribed.

Your comment on flying flags to wind people up made me chuckle. Well done on handling a thorny subject so well 👏🏻

👏 the inner city police division covering parts of the Falls, Shankill and Upper Springfield, an area of only a couple of square miles had the highest recorded murder rate across the whole of NI during the years of violence. The area, mainly working class back-to-back housing where the two communities lived yards from each other was the preserve of roving murder gangs. Many, many tragedies unfolded on the streets you rode along. That history resonates to this day. A recent survey asking local people about the future of the ‘Peace Walls’ had the vast majority of respondents demanding that the walls remain. 😢 On a much, much lighter note I was amused as you suggested visitors take an open bus tour of the city as you rode along in a not untypical Belfast downpour. 😊

Great video mate. I really enjoyed the history lesson. But what an eye opener regarding the conflict between religions. It made Me realise how it closely reflects the conflict between the blacks and whites in South Africa (I am South African) . I moved to the UK to get My daughter away from it all. I did not want her to grow up in what I had to deal with on a daily basis. It is now way better but there is still a lot of hatred between black and white. Like you said, it is the minority that keeps the hatred rolling forward when the majority tries to live in harmony and put food on the table. Thanks again for a great video.

They are called murals. As I explained in video, most used to be provocative or supporting paramilitary groups. However since the Good Friday Agreement, most have been toned down and are more to do with culture or community. There are still a few remaining paramilitary murals
