I know I'm late to this reaction, but I wanted to answer your question about magicians and cards. Cards and coins are one of the first things someone who wants to learn magic uses. Card decks are cheap and they are everywhere which means you can do your tricks wherever you are. Same with coins. Of course, Eric Chien and Shin Lim are beyond next level, but they all start somewhere.
This guy means doing magic to a audience he was working behind scenes making tricks he already won Asia got talent and he won fism he's not a amateur but he just didn't perform but make magic for magicians
All these shows try to make it seem like it's the first time the contestants have done it or its thier first time doing it infront of people when the dude already won the Asian show and won the master magician thing. Same thing with the girl last year courtney hadwin the little girl singer. She had already list 2 other shows.
When magician gonna make performance with magic tricks, this gonna get best. Unlike this most magicians only stand on stage for speak to audition and show them simple tricks - that is really boring. That why Eric Shien, Shin Lim and Sacred Riana are best at one thing - they made performance with tricks.
