- 잘 ("well") is an adverb that can be used in so many different ways. Some of the most common ones are in this video, including 잘 하다, 잘생기다, 잘 지내다, 잘 들리다 and 보이다, 잘 오다, 잘 가다, 잘 먹다, 잘 보다, and more.

I Pity the fools that looked at the title and thought "Oh I already know 잘" obviously there is so much more to take away from this lesson.
잘생기다 is used only in the past tense because 생기다 means "to be formed/created." So 잘생기다 is used always in the past in the sense of "was created well" (i.e., was "formed" handsomely) and that state continues.
thank you for this! it always confused me when people translated it to "well" because it doesn't always make sense, like how you said "i will eat it well" means "i will enjoy this." no one had been able to explain it to me

I've heard 잘 오나 봐 used passive aggressively in drama when someone else seems like a regular at suspicious place 😆

잘하다 is for being skilled at something, while 잘 하다 just means 잘 ("well" or "often") and 하다. Most of the time because of that 잘하다 gets used.

This was really interesting because it made me realize some things I was already doing but kind of reversed. In all these scenarios I still saw the word as being "well" but applied different meanings to well, in ways we wouldn't in English and that I didn't know how to explain back to someone else.
The only one I can think of that you didn’t mention was “시험 잘 봤어?” or “시험 잘 봐” but it’s basically how you wish them a good result on their test

@@GoBillyKorean I think for me is more a matter of not knowing exactly when to use which. The nuances are a bit blurry in my head.

I use 잘 when saying 잘 자 or 잘 가.

I come to the house often?
I come to the house well? (No problems)
I enjoy coming to the house?
The context is a person is coming to a party at another person’s house.
None of these in the video seem to match up perfectly in my mind. Confused.
It's the "no problems" meaning in that sentence.
잘 모르겠어요 ahah is that correct cos i recognise it?
What about 잘 모르겠어? My boyfriend always says in English “I don’t know well about it”, and I know he’s translating this phrase

~지 않아 is just a casual way of speaking (with close friends the same age as you or younger), while ~지 않습니다 is formal.
