    Thanks for showing all of that btw. Most people would have cut this video down to probably half, but showing the whole process is much more helpful.

    the best exhaust note i've heard fron the r3

  • @warlok9
    @warlok9 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I want to get this exhaust but I'm concerned with excess backfires. I've seen one other TH-cam r3 install and he claims loss of power and continual backfires with the dB killer out, but less so with it in. I can handle the install easily, but I don't want to get into installing power commanders and messing with factory electronics in order to enjoy the sound. What was your experience while riding with this exhaust?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +warlok9 honestly it has been a really pleasant experience. It really is a very reasonable sound and I have not experienced any noticable performance variation without a fuel control unit. thanks for the great question!

    If you install this full system you need to change your ECU? And remap it? Or you can install it and good to use without changing the ECU/remaping it?

    • @sportbiketrackgear

      You can install this full system and ride the bike. If you are happy with the performance no need to make any changes. We only stress that if you are racing or have built the motor. - Van

    Ok I'm getting my R3 in 2 months. I want this exhaust system which I will put on myself I have a few questions:
    1) What are the part numbers for both the Canister and the headers/straight pipe? Or is this a complete kit?
    2) How much for the total kit?
    3) I checked Yoshimura's website but could not find this kit for the R3, so did you install an R1 kit on the R3?
    I'm new to riding and this R3 will be the first bike I have ever owned. Not to be a douche or anything, but if you can't answer my questions factually please do not comment, I need honest feedback not misleading answers. I would prefer Sportbike Track Gear to answer my questions if possible but if anyone else installed this kit on their R3 that would be awesome too.
    Thanks

    Hey man, I have a question that you might not know the answer to because you didn't take them off.....well, I'm going to replace the header exhaust gaskets, right at the block, and I need to know which way they go. I did my exhaust a while ago and when I did, the gaskets fell off and I wasn't able to see which side faced what.
    If you hold a new, OEM gasket in your hand, you will see that one side is completely flat, and the other has a beveled edge.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You do not have to do a fuel map or controller. That said to get all the benefits of the system you will need to do it at some point. We have had our R3 since 2015 and the bike is still without a map or controller on it. - Van

    It's so hard to decide between M4 slip on and Yoshimura R77 full system, which one should I get? Comparing sound, performance..etc. I did tons of research for this both two exhausts but still can't choose which one better. Any recommended or advice from you guys would be highly appreciated!!!!

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the end the decision is yours, and that is a wonderful thing! All I can say is that both of those options will work great, in the end it is just about what type of improvement you want in overall performance. The M4 slip-on won't eliminate the CAT and because of that won't give you the performance increase that the R-77 Full System will. However, there is also the price to consider! Let us know which one you decide on!

    Good afternoon. Gentlemen, I am about to buy a Yamaha R3 2015, I want to ask you with all the accessories and arrangements that you make to the r3 that acceleration reaches. And how fast is the top speed? Thank you, I would appreciate it

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The best top speed we have seen with Max Van on the bike (130 lbs) was 109 mph at Grattan Raceway on the straight. This reading came from the GPS lap timer we have on his bike so it is much more accurate than the speedo on the bike. - Van

    • @mowie1236
      @mowie1236 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +sliccflip The slip on is just the carbon part, it just slips onto the original pipes, the thing with this bike though is that it has components between the engine and exhaust that dampen the sound so a slip on exhaust won't sound as loud on this bike as it normally would on another type of bike like a ninja 300 or cbr300r.

  • @eriki3000
    @eriki3000 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    With Db killer, is the bike extremely loud? Like does it get annoying?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tough question to answer because we all have a different idea of what is annoying or loud to be fair. Persoanlly I do not find this system to be overly loud without the insert. It is important to note we have also found the R3 to make more power with the insert installed. - Brian Van

      No you do not have to install them with the exhaust system. That said you will need to flash the ecu or install a fuel controller to get the most out of your new exhaust system. I would suggest installing the exhaust and riding the bike to see how you feel about the performance. If you are happy then leave it, not happy add the flash or fuel controller. • @sportbiketrackgear

      A slip on usually won't change the performance of the bike enough to require the electronics upgrade, but there are a lot of other benefits that come with purchasing a new fuel controller!

    does it need a power Commander ? any chance u can measure dB's with insert in and out with phone app to get idea how loud it is before I order it please .

    • @sportbiketrackgear

      A power commander is not essential for the use of this exhaust. If you are looking for peak performance you might want to go with a power commander or a Flash Tune.

    Is this full exhaust for "indoor use only"? Like is it illegal? It sucks that im looking at other exhausts now and possibly considering doing a full exhaust because i just installed my m4 street slayer and already cut my muffler box and would need a new system. And i dont like the sound of the m4 streetslayer. On video it sounded better but in person its like sooo loud and i think its just to much for a little bike. Like it doesnt match the bike. And i know it's probably annoying for everyone else to hear since i live in Manhattan new york

    Hi,
    thanks for the Video! i'm very glad to see this video, because i'm looking for a great exhaust system since over 2 month. I want to order this exhaust system but i have 2 questions. First of all i live in Germany.
    1. Can i get in trouble with the police, my insurance or with the TÜV (Car Inspection)?
    2. can i get in trouble with the customs?
    BTW: sorry for my bad english :)
    This Exhaust System sound better than the most slip-on exhausts on big bikes.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Customs should not be an issue. Not sure how to answer the other question. What you could do is leave the stock exhaust on for the inspection. Wish I had more to offer here. What country are you from? - Van

      Airplane fuel makes a big difference too...lol. Did you put in a power commander? You should address this issue. When I put the full Akropovic system on my Ninja 1000, I called Akropovic and they said no, that it's made to run properly without further modification. I hear a LOT of people saying the minute you replace the entire system, not just a slip-on, that they rant and rave you need a PC. It's just not the case all the time. I always say check with the manufacturer.

    how long can you go with out a fuel controller doing this?

    • @jackallen6261
      @jackallen6261 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +damen grandel The R3 runs a closed loop system so it should compensate on it's own for this mod but with the controller it will remap the fuel curve and richen it up a bit which should give you a noticeable jump in horsepower. If I'm wrong someone jump in and correct me but that's what I understand to be the case.

    • @WickedMoto
      @WickedMoto 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ahh ok so how do i know if mine is running a closed loop?

    • @jackallen6261
      @jackallen6261 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The factory ECU runs in closed loop looking at O2 readings to adjust the fuel air ratio. SO all of the stock R3's are running a closed loop system.
