Really like this series, keep it up! Can you do a video about proper design for screen brightness while designing for best possible black levels? What screen brightness do you guys design for?
I just went to the birthday party section of walmart and bought a 97 cent white table cover and thumb tacks and it works fine for a wall that had a window in the way.
Tym is crazy! yes you are! Your video tooooo informative and its practical my friend! loved it as usual. following you for my bread and butter. thanks!!!!
Just bought a short throw projector (Optoma GT1080HDR ) its gonna be ceiling mounted , gonna have a dedicated space for it , have already installed blackout curtains , what projection screen could you recommend , anything in the range of 80 inches , any help will be greatly appreciated .
I recently purchased an Optoma UHD50X 4K projector to accommodate my PlayStation 5 for 4K gaming. I’ve spent countless hours searching online for a projector screen that will be large enough to cover the entire living room wall if possible, and I need any expert opinions on which side screen I could purchase. My dimensions are L: 174 x W: 94, Diagonal: 194. I’ve owned an Epson 8350 for 10 years, but never made a major screen purchase. Not so much concerned with the brand as I am with covering as much of the wall as possible to get the most out of my purchases. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
it really depends. Elite Screens is a great place to start, they've got a handful of options specifically for outdoor use. And of course Screen Innovations , although they'll be more expensive. Both are good options. It depends on the weather conditions, if it's rear or front, or both? But Elite is probably where I would start your search.
Q: Can you opt for a 2:35:1 2-way screen? Or, opt for a 16:9 2-way? Or are all 2-way and 4-way based off of 16:9 screens? Also, do all projectors today have memory settings for said addict ratio? So that we can jump into HD from watching a movie in cinescope with one button press? So we won't have resize each time?
Hello! I've notice that sometimes I watch a movie and I get those black bars on my projector screen 16:9. But sometimes the screen is fully projected. Like in back to the future. So, if I watch a movie like back to the future in a 2:35 screen, what will it happens? Thanks!
Hey! Looking to install a projector screen in the middle of my apartment. Are all screens dual screens? As in, if I’m watching from one side of the apartment, would it also play on the opposite side of the screen on the other side?
Great video! Question; what projector do you need to get a 2:35 screen. Could you adjust any projector to fit wide format, black bars outside the screen? Do you loose sharpness, when going for 2:35?
Hello I got the epson eh-tw650 i replace my tv with it so I'm projecting on my white wall and the quality it's quiet impressive im wondering if i got a screen will it improve the quality of the pictures? I see some 4k screen and some simple fhd screen which one should I go for it to see a big difference yes will get a 4k projector with time because I like playing my game on big screen
Hi Tym, I seen your some od the videos, which provides me lot much information. Can you provide me some material to refer for the calculation for the Theaters, like speakers woofer and amplifier selection and It's Installation along with calibration?
If you wanted to avoid an acoustically transparent screen but also have ideal audio for multiple rows of seating, would you recommend placing the center channel above the screen and tilting it down or below the screen and tilting it up?
hi I have white screen at the moment and noticed that the projector is showing a white glow from the screen but the colours also stand out just the glow.like there is to much white in my room I also have bright white walls and i think the projector reflects from them too so to even out the contrast would it be best to get the grey screen.
@@SmartHomeBrothers OK been looking at diy paint what do u recommend my budget is any under £50 that I can put on a MDF board that has good contrast levels. unless you can recommend good quality grey screen I can put over a wooden frame.
Great video! If my room is dimensioned 155" x 92 ", how do I go about choosing a screen? I am thinking a 2.35:1 and go as wide as possible, and for 16 x 9 content, i'll plan to have curtains to cover the black vertical bars. Is that a good strategy?
I am feeling like a home cinema expert after watching your several videos. Thanks for explaining in such detail. Just one request. Try to use a white board instead of those papers. Because the paper are huge and i think they just to waste after your video shooting. Thanks and all the best
2 question....what happen if my screen has a high gain that is over 22' Lambert? And what if i angle up the center speaker to ear level, is that the same?
Thats why i went 16.9 over 2.25 As some movies are still 16.9 and imax is different resolution. I can put up with the black bars, i cant put up with parts of the image being stretched or cut out
Richard Dias has to ask my engineers :) they said technically the answer is yes, if you got out your light meter you would detect it, but on a normal screen ( a non ambient light reflecting screen) it’s unlikely you’d notice a difference. That’s not to say the image on the screen isn’t impacted but the light reflection you probably wouldn’t notice. If it was an ambient light rejecting screen, it would have an effect for sure

Link to good article that explains it but has easy 3 steps at bottom of article to help you calculate - from people I’ve spoken to, most agree today that the ideal luminance is higher than smpte recommendation of 16. But... that’s the current recommendation www.residentialsystems.com/blogs/1156
Can you have too many foot Lamberts? My projector is a Epson home cinema 2150, so 2500 lumens. Square footage of my screen is 25.84 ft squared. So I have 96.7 foot lamberts. I haven't bought a screen yet. Should I try to get one with lower gain? Or is a gain of 1.1 ok?
of course you should buy one, if projecting to your wall, the image may be very unclear and very easy to harm your eyes, if in a darm room, you just chooose one common screen, if much light in your room, you should choose one light-rejecting screen. if you have more interests on it, you can add my whatsapp , or email to me
While darker colors in a low sheen are preferred, they don't have to be absolute black. Grays are popular...and our former showroom theater had purple walls.
in fact, any colors you like but those can reflect too much light, such as white, golden, since the bright color enviroment will influence your viewing experience.
Ok, might be a stupid question. If you don't purchase a screen but you rather project it straight onto the wall, can't you have best of both worlds? That is, if there exist some super good paint of course :p
He said "We're gonna skip the math" immediately right after he says "let's run the math" 8:19 lol great content tho been looking for a good video trying to buy a screen projector. This helped a lot
LOL - would be easier for sure. Was a way to make movies new and exciting at a time when they were anxious to get people back to the Movies. But now, it's a very popular format, so not going away any time soon.
Projector anamorphic lens are pretty neat but expensive. Some 2.35:1 screen users uses that anamorphic lens. It'll retain the aspect ratio and turn 16x9 aspect ratio into 2.35 without losing pixels and brightness.

Excellent excellent vid. Concise, relevant, interesting and extremely well presented. Huge achievement considering the length

@vicdamone You could also use your wife/partners backside but again, it's not optimal
@@cyberBIGGT hahahahah 🤣😂
Very helpful...Thank you! Do you have any video on an outdoor theater system? If not, can you suggest a resource?
Absolutely amazing video. I learned a lot. Keep up the good work.
Tym is crazy! yes you are! Your video tooooo informative and its practical my friend! loved it as usual. following you for my bread and butter. thanks!!!!
Thanks my friend! Appreciate the support
Thanks Sir very informative. It solved the puzzle even my home theater advisor doesn’t know. So I am getting 125 inches screen (2.35 ratio). Thanks 🙏
Glad it helped

I usually pick 16:9 my personal preference and it's probably common for alot of people what size do you guy's use?💯🤔
Hey, what project would you recommend under $300???
If you wanted to avoid an acoustically transparent screen but also have ideal audio for multiple rows of seating, would you recommend placing the center channel above the screen and tilting it down or below the screen and tilting it up?
how about the main speakers installed at front bottom or front top and some surround speakers installed at left&right&back walls

How do this change for UST projectors?
GREAT INFORMATIVE VIDEO? WHAT SIZE SCREEN WOULD RECOMMEND FOR VIDEO GAMES?
For 100” diagonal screen, what size do you suggest to mount from floor to the lower screen?
if you want to use a projector for gaming on a curved screen (racing simulator) what should I use?
This guy make it so easy, love his deliveries 😊😊
So sould I get a projector first & then the screen or screen first & then projector?? The max size I want to go is 100"
What's a good screen for the Vankyo leisure 3 mini projector?

Great info...simple and easy to understand broad coverage!

What would you suggest for gaming from Xbox one?
do projectors offer different aspect ratios?
Do you see the Cinema scope going to 2:40 due to increasing IMAX presence in Home theater?
Thats why i went 16.9 over 2.25
As some movies are still 16.9 and imax is different resolution. I can put up with the black bars, i cant put up with parts of the image being stretched or cut out
Great content but...the ratio is 2.35:1 not 2:35
yes, if home theater, 2.35:1 is the best option, if just for living room or wedding room or company's meeting room, 16:9 is OK
Awesome video. Never liked calling it 2:35 and 16:9. I’d rather call it 1.7:1 and 2.35:1
Thanks. Lots of really essential information for choosing a screen and even a projector.
How would you fit a big center channel behind a screen that's up against the wall?
You gotta put it in the wall.
Always go 16:9. If you go 2.39:1, when you watch 4:3 films, it'll be so tiny.
what ratio is best for Playstation games?
Really like the video, everything on point and neatly summarized.
Thank you 😎
If my projector is off center, do I also have to worry about light being reflected back at an suboptimal angle?

That’s not to say the image on the screen isn’t impacted but the light reflection you probably wouldn’t notice.

Thank you very much! I’m a movie geek so I’m gonna get 2:35. Thank you again!

I got a 4K projector on a 120” screen, all I can say is do it people!
Congratulations! 🍿😎
Thanks for the amazingly informative vid! P.S. You're super handsome!
I wish you'd go into white/grey/black screens. Otherwise a nice video!
No 4:3 screen option!

I don't think you are correct. My projectors with never changes, just the height does.
16.9 panoramic
who are the 12 idiots that hit dislike? This video was brilliant !!
Thanks my friend!

How to Choose A Projector Screen
You must go to some trash cinemas. The speakers for the ones i've been to have the speakers mounted along the sides of the wall all the way back.
Why the hell can`t they just use ONE format???????? I HATE BLACK LINES. Sorry just had to get that out. Who can we call to make every thing 16 x 9?
LOL - would be easier for sure. Was a way to make movies new and exciting at a time when they were anxious to get people back to the Movies. But now, it's a very popular format, so not going away any time soon.
