Now you have scared off all the rivet counters, what is there to talk about! Seriously, great work with the Supporters Group as it has clearly made so many comfortable about showing their layouts and at all levels of work. As one guy said, “this is may layout, it makes me happy.” Should be the group motto!
Hi John- I have to say I am enjoying the new Facebook group as its great to see other peoples work and gain inspiration and to be able to post without fear of judgement. I am going to use one of those Dapol signals to replace a Train tech one my cat broke !! Cheers Kev

Please please pleaseeeeee do not pay a single ounce of attention, this is your hobby, your layout and you can do it exactly as you wish, its great work and a fabulous layout --- Don't even justify them with acknowledgement on your video's as that is what they are looking for to wind you up . . . Hi, those signals look great.............A great video, thanks................Oh I never even counted any rivets!!!! Look forward to the next video................Never realised you had anything on FB................All the very best Dave.
Top bloke with a top layout and a top bunch of genuine followers! Not going to get on about the toffee nosed rivet counters as they absolutely boil my..... blood. Keep up the great work, we appreciate you showing us your layout 👍
I’m a great fan of signalling, your signals are great! I have been collecting signals for years, so I have some that were from the 1950’s and some Dapols. Unfortunately I wired my first Dapol (SR U/Q) to my sixty year old Hammant & Morgan “Monitor” unit, output 16v A.C. I followed the instructions correctly, but the early instructions did not advise you needed a “regulated” DC output to run them. At that time I had never heard of regulated DC, but had an old 10v DC mobile ‘phone recharging unit which did the job. Result £26 .00 down the drain for the first signal. Yes, I know most modern mobiles run from 5v DC, but this one was probably from an old Nokia. I was advised that my unit had an iron core transformer which meant that even a DC output would have blown the signal. The “Monitor” unit is very good with all my modern Hornby, Bachman and Dapol locomotives and multiple units. Slow starts, no jerking when stopping, and controllable down to a slow stop into a platform or up to a red signal, as it has “transformer control”, not resistance control. Paid £2.00 for it about 1964. PICTON, South Island, New Zealand.
Best in Class! Honestly, just stumbled on to your channel, so many ideas I can steal, er I mean admire. I have put a couple of those semaphore signals on the layout and never even thought about modelling how they get operated, well done for having the patience.
Awesome layout! First time watching for me but I've subscribed! It's always disappointing when folks see fit to criticise as they tend not to be able to show their achievements. I'm starting out again after over 40 years. Time is the scarce resource for me so layouts like yours inspire. Thank You
Glad I've found your channel! You've got a supurbe layout, although I'm a bit biased as I'm a fellow Norfolk based railway modeler (thought more of a kettle head than you 😜) look forward to seeing more!!
Really good update mate, I have the signalling wiring etc to install, not looking forward to it 😳 especially as I have some rodding to do as well! But what you’ve done; looks great. All the best, Stu @ Kingsclere model railway.
I like the way you are not to serious with the commentary makes me smile. I have Dapol signals in n on dcc and find now and again the signal forgets it self snd does what it wants.
Great layout! It looks absolutely fantastic 👍🏻 It's the rivet counters and all the negative people that are stopping me from doing much on TH-cam. I've made a couple of little videos. And I've had nothing but encouraging comments. But the bigger your channel, the more people want to shoot you down. I don't want anyone taking away the enjoyment of the hobby. 😕
the sheer amount of meticulous detail everywhere is insane. And I most loved the match between your foliage and the background print - especially on camera the illusion is perfect.
Good effort. Those junction signals are not absolutely incorrect. Although they would not normally appear like this, they could appear like this. There are prototypical examples. Thanks for uploading!
I do like your layout. The attention to detail and scenery are a credit to you. Have you considered putting a facia round the layout, then fixing a curtain underneath? That would really put the Cherry on the bun!
Having all the engines out is great,,better than having very few,,looking at the smaller buildings on the layout, they are really nice,,trees and vegetation terrific,,😊
Great to another video mate! 😎 I love the enthusiasm you have and it is reflected in the love and attention you give your layout. And like you say, the miserable sods that want to criticise clearly have got something missing from their lives, probably friends 🤣😂😅 The infrastructure is so wonderfully (and accurately) claustrophobic as anyone that works in a depot will testify! You are also right about that signal box, absolutely champion! 😎 BTW, while you were looking for ‘that word’ I swear I was saying ‘endorsed!’ over and over again 😉 Only one teeny-weeny gripe…why hasn’t Dennis passed his PTS yet? They could do with him when they do maintenance on the semaphores. Can he not get someone to help him pass the assessment, get his competency card and then get kitted out? Or is it just that raptor hi-viz equipment is a bit scarce? 🤔 🦖 Cheers mate, fantastic stuff. I’ll have a look out for the FB group too 😉👍🍀
Evening John, fantastic video yet again, the layout is now way onto another level, the signals are just stunning, colas sidings great idea, works well, credit to you sir.
I thinks it's a super layout and most importantly its yours so you can do what you want with it and stuff the nit-pickers. No time for those that criticise and add nothing constructive. Keep up the great work and do what you want to do going forwards.....
Hi John, fantastic update on a lovely layout, the new semaphores look amazing,as regards the rivet counters, just ignore them, they're not worth acknowledging,(pound to a penny,if you went to their channel, you'd be greeted with "this channel has no content", which speaks volumes), Dennis the Dinosaur, reminds me of the animatronic dinosaurs at the Landmark Adventure Park at Carr bridge near where I live, there really is a prototype for everything, anyway, sorry for filling up your comments section, take care, all the best from Scotland, Stephen.
Brilliant videos look forward to viewing them anyway take no notice from rivet counters it’s your railway run what you like. I’m ex service too RN for my sins
Nothing wrong with end-to-end layouts. Personally I like them cause there's more operational potenrisp, run around, shunt releasing, etc. Building a small one myself

I'm sure there was a signal like the one you have on the platform at Barry Island station back in the day, so perhaps the GWR got it wrong, too?!? Oh, and you can't have too many locos: just have a look at some old shots of Cardiff Canton Depot.
