@@bencheshire guys, the press screening was at 8.30 am that very morning. the critics who attended it didn't like the movie at all. the press conference was at about 11.30 and Sean came already disappointed having heard about the press reaction. I was there.
Good lord Sean Penn talks a load of rambling garbage. He takes forever to say almost nothing at all. I can't believe The Daily Mail reporter, of all people, ended up being to ask Penn to address the white-centric framing of the movie. Total cop out reply from Penn though. You weren't being asked if you'd change the movie, Sean, you were being asked why you chose to center a movie that was supposed to be about the SA civil war and the suffering of its people on the romance of the two white protagonists. Anyone wanting to watch a good version of this movie should watch Beasts of No Nation.
Jane Linn Unlike this movie, BoNN focused on the narrative and the over all message and theme. Sean Penn took this project and wanted to make this about him and instead; of focusing on the theme he had it about to white lovers. Its not even a good love story. Sean Penn needs to get off his high horse, cause people are getting tired of him.

I saw em both at Cannes and Last Face more than half left the theatre when i saw it. Neon Demon is for me a masterpiece. The Neon Demon is a mouthful for some people as it *Spoiler alert* contains Necrophilia and Cannibalism.
