    Love the color & the build. Here I think my XJ is the shiznit cause I have a long arm lift & f&r lockers sitting on 31's 😂. TBH, she's never left me embarrassed or stranded so I won't complain.

    • @thegreendumpster1414

      This one started out bone stock, then it escalated from there. At one point in time it had long arms, f&r lockers, and 31s, but then plans changed and its now on 35s.

    Where are those bumpers from? I like the low profile and the trailer receiver in the center. Also what gear ratio do you have in your 8.25? I’m looking to replace my Dana 35 axle to either a Ford 8.8 or an 8.25 and think I need 4:56 gears to run 35’s

    • @thegreendumpster1414
      @thegreendumpster1414  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ares fab bumpers front and rear, the rear has been modified slightly. Running 4.56 gears and the 8.25 has been fine for me. I do plan to pull the axles this summer to upgrade in preparation for larger tires

    Sick build! Subbed. I like the hybrid cage with the rear corner guards. I plan on doing the same but I want to tie in the cage to unibody stiffners.

    This is a bit overwhelming for someone like me who is just now planning to get into overlanding. I'm not sure what I need to start out with.

    • @thegreendumpster1414
      @thegreendumpster1414  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Start with whatever you think would help you most. I had gears and lockers on 31” tires and could go places people on 33s + couldn’t go because they had open diffs, but if a smoother ride down a dirt road is the goal, a bigger tire will soak up bumps better and you don’t really need lockers. All about how the vehicle is going to be used.

    nice rig! reminds me of my green XJ. Would like to see some more info on the steering, the long arms(how do you like them, what you dont like...etc), the front axle mods, sleeving and gussets. I'm on 33s and thinking of bumping to 35s but not sure of what all is needed to make the jump up to 35s. I'm locked front and rear and on 4.56s as well.

    • @thegreendumpster1414
      @thegreendumpster1414  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The steering and long arms have done very well, biggest issue with the steering is wearing out heims, but that happens with any heim steering. Technically nothing needs to be done for 35s, but the C gussets, sleeves and the almost alloy kit with 760x u joints helps things last a little longer. The long term plan is to do an axle swap once I find the axles I want for a price that isn’t ridiculous.

      @@thegreendumpster1414 Yeah that's what I was thinking. I really only want to go to 37s and be done. If I go tons then 37s would be the smallest tire one should go with.

  • @ProjectXJ

    How much did you pay for the cage? Jeep looks really nice. How much did you bump stop to keep from rubbing? Do those no lift shackle boxes mount to the frame and tie in to the floor?

    • @thegreendumpster1414
      @thegreendumpster1414  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe the cage kit was like $900 from xo-fab and it was around $700 for the extra tube work I had done and all of the welding. I believe there is 3" of extra bumpstop in the rear and around 5" in the front. The best way to measure bumpstops and shocks is to flex out your suspension and see what your specific application will need. The shackle boxes bolt to the factory shackle bolt, the factory hitch bolts, and through the floor. I have 2 down bars in the back that tie the cage into the shackle boxes.

    • @ProjectXJ
      @ProjectXJ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thegreendumpster1414 i have stock bump stops and i cut enough to fit 33's on 4.5" of lift. Now that i have 35's, i need a little bit longer ones. I want to add a little lift as well. I would like to do no lift shackle relocation boxes but have too much going on with my skid plate, and bumper brackets to add one more thing there. I can't put anything under the bumper brackets which means i would have to shim the shackle boxes.

    • @thegreendumpster1414
      @thegreendumpster1414  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ProjectXJ I wheel with a lot of people with 4.5" of lift and clear 35s, but they have shorter shocks so there isn't as much droop causing the opposite tire to stuff more ( kind of a cantilever effect). The shackle boxes actually come with shims to add in case you need to shim them for various items being in the way.

    Why do you have sway bars?

    • @thegreendumpster1414
      @thegreendumpster1414  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For better road handling. I only have a front sway bar and it gets disconnected when I go offroad. It’s a lot nicer driving 5 hours to an offroad park with a sway bar and the improved handling that comes with the sway bar.
