A year on since the last film here, involving the incident with the bus, and the crossing is still as it is. In fact, the yodalarms are quieter than before. A whole family cross the tracks after emerging from the old Southampton terminus station.

Barriers would be good at this crossing but there isn't really any room to put them. About 6 trains pass through here a day.
Its only car transporters and the odd passenger train that use that track, Its a side branch into Southampton Eastern Docks. Never 6 aday, 1 aday unless they have split the carrages then 2.
They really should put brains into the 90% of public that are apparently missing one.

These are WIA wagons which come from BMW's plant in Cowley and carry Minis for export. The cars are double-decked.

I live in a town near Southampton and i never knew that was in use!!!
All the cyclists entered the box junction before the exit was clear, and they all went through a red light!
I don't think the law applies to cyclists.
Rules of the road apply to all road users!
Sorry, I was being sarcastic. Of course they do apply, it's just that with some of them you wouldn't think so.
I did not know we had articulated wagons like that! I know that's not really the point of the video but still interesting all the same. Cyclists are a lore unto themselves, and their journeys are more important than everyone else's. God forbid that they should have to stop for more than a couple of seconds....,. I believe they have to surgically removed from their cycles at the end of the day! :-)
I'd love to attach a private carriage that's got rooms, bed, shower etc and hitch along a ride with these long distance trains. What a life that'll be :)
+NewBuildmini There is a cruse terminal in those docks, with a station for passengers at the end of this line. Unfortunately it is not used very often!

Did they open that blue-framed gate for the train? Please show the whole area see we can understand what is happening.
Next time I'm in that area I will try to film it more, but yes they did :-)

Valéry Vianey That's ok! Other auto trains here in the UK aren't covered up, so you can see the nice new cars!
I wish 2:35 would happen with the trams in Manchester, payback for the times some arsehole has delayed the tram by blocking the crossing.
Also, 7:13, clearly impatient, but doesn't the flashing reds state you MUST STOP, even when there's no train on the crossing? (I know it's a single track) What if another train was to pass?

I think the driver was talking to the crossing keeper who has a box just past the crossing :-)

That should have two engines so it can accellerate quicker!

It's a freight train - they're not supposed to travel fast or have quick acceleration. Think about it for a moment!! With all that stuff that the Loco is hauling if it went to fast and braked too hard, the carriages would plough into the back of the loco and most likely derail it or send it flying. When freight trains have two locos hauling it's because extra haulage strength is needed that one loco can't handle on its own. It's nothing to do with enabling faster acceleration. Got it now??
