Hello must the red en black connector complete in the frame for connection? When no Marklin have to remove the metal in the middel or can leave it? Thanks Edwin

Hello Edwin,
Yes, the Marklin rod in the middle can be leave there during 2 rail operation.
Yes, red and black connector must be connected via frame (I think this is the weakest point of the construction. You just plug connector to the hole bute sometimes it doesn't connect well)

How long is the unit? Will it hold large American articulated locomotives?

However the stand is 550mm (~21.6 inch) long the usefull part of it 530mm (~20.8inch) so some of them yes, some of them not :)
