So do I. Andy Kavovit was the best Paul, the one with understandable angst, well deserving of his Emmy Win and four nominations in the younger actor category.
The only version I thought was BAD was Roger Howarth’s. Terrible fit for the part. This one and Scott Holroyd were the best for me. They both brought intensity and this actor was exceptional, especially for his age. Roger Howarth clowned around too much, which ruined the layered history of the role and the character in my opinion.
So do I but it was not Roger's fault it was the writing. They were trying to write Paul like Roger's oltl role Todd manning. Also for melenie Smith fans Alan Locher on the Locher Room podcast did a benefit reading where they did the final episode reading with melenie Smith playing Emily again.
@@gabrielstern4992Roger howarths is a great actor but like you said the writer has his version of Paul to act like Todd manning. The writing should of let Roger to act like Paul
@@JamesBrady-qc6zy Exactly right the last year of the show Roger got to act some what like Paul VS Todd manning but for years the show especially when hogan sheffer was there kept fixating on and exaggerating stuff like this or tess Shelby. Which were brief periods in the characters history under Doug Marland and 1991 going into summer of 1992 was the darkest period of the Doug Marland years so why the hell would Chris goutman Jean oasanante and hogan sheffer think that was a reliable accurate view of who Paul Ryan was when it wasn't. Not even close. @JamesBrady-qc6zy
blabbermouth Lol I mean, if I were Paul’s mother, I’d loathe Emily too. She totally preyed on Paul emotionally and sexually and before that, slept with his father. Gross. Barbara should have scratched her eyes out. I did like this Emily actress the best though...
I wouid not say that, if you watch further it was clear Paul and Emily always loved each other. It was Doug Marlands death that screwed things up. Including Andy not coming back as Paul petmantly in 1993 once Kelly was established. Rip Doug Marland you are still missed.
Guys this is a, standout performance from Andy. Also when he was written out as Paul Ryan in 1991 he should have been approached by another world to have taken over the part of Sam fowler and this clip proves I am right. VS Brian Greene who took over the part and this was after I watched aw episodes that aired on 8/27/1991 and 8/28/91 and was watching Brian Greene try and do those same facial expressions and very similar scenes with the actress who played Amanda Cory at the time. But unlike Andy it looked fake and overacted and where you just could not sympathize with Sam fowler where he with Andy it looked And sounded real and he was so good at playing so many layers as melenie was too. And all that youthful energy too. And Andys Paul when he was leaving town after tess Shelby cheated on him you could literally feel his pain and boy ohh boy when he felt hurt you could just relate to it.
That's Our Hank the Gay Hunk--Paul was awful to Hank when he first found out Hank was gay-- It wasn't until Hank took a bullit while trying to save Paul from his dad that they became so close
Wow the character of Paul has really changed since then. I like this version the most.

@JamesBrady-qc6zy
Freaking love Melanie Smith
I know the actress who played Emily. She was on the Adventures of Brisco County Jr. "Bye Bly" as a time traveler named Karina.
Good to see Barbara hasn't changed, "Emily's to blame for this whole thing!!!"

"in our state" lol. back before they decided it was in Illiois.
@amyanda Ha ha! I know! This started the whole anti-Emily campaign for Barbara.
Excuse me --I resemble that remark lol
They were awful weren't they
