LOOKING FOR POLUNIN BALLET PERFORMANCES? You're invited to visit this page on my channel where I've been organizing all the quality recordings of Sergei Polunin's performances I've found on TH-cam. th-cam.com/users/IndiaInkplaylists?view=50&sort=dd&shelf_id=2 Most of these playlists (around 30 so far!) compile near-complete or even full performances of ballets including Giselle, Swan Lake, the Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Spartacus, Mayerling, LaBayadere, Coppelia, and many more!
I read your disclaimer and I totally agree with you! We are more than what we show, what we do...and we are all on a path, a journey and we usually change along the way. And that is OK. For me, Polunin conveys beauty, energy, passion, pain and vulnerability. Love him and loved this video! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you ❤️. I especially thank you for taking the time to read what I wrote in the video description and for taking the time to comment. I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Sergei is an amazing dancer and person. I'm not at all comfortable comparing him to Christ. But I do appreciate Sergei's talent and the gifts he shares with the world.
Thank you for sharing this video India Ink. I recognized some of the sequences from the documentary about Sergei Polunin which I saw a few years ago. What a great personality and what a gifted artist to take all the pain to perform the art of dance the way he does... Thank you Sergei Polunin. We heart you
You are the bright ray of light, dear Sergei. You are making this beautiful fragile World better, kinder. Maybe, looking at your beautiful soul of a wonderful dancer Human, mad and angry people will show that they have a better, kinder side of them
Beautiful thoughts. (I know sometimes people just want to share their thoughts here and that is welcome, but if you want Sergei to see them, make sure to go to one of his official pages, since I'm only a fan page and he won't see them here.)
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it and resonated with some of the same feelings I had as I made it. It was made with much care for Sergei as a person and appreciation for him as a dancer. ❤️
What a beautiful, unique and uplifting video. Many thanks to whomever produced this and to sergei for dancing in it. Bravo to all involved with/in it 😊🌷
Thank you very much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. (I make all the music videos that have my channel name on them - India Ink). I owe an incalculable debt to Sergei for all the gifts he brings to the world with his dancing and with himself. And I'm also so very grateful to the producers and recorders of all the video clips I'm able to use for these videos. Bravo to all of them and thank you for the compliments!
@@IndiaInk you're welcome and fyi im not even a ballet fan. I respect and admire anyone in the arts who is exceptional, no matter what the medium. When i was a senior in high school a girl I was dating dragged me to see The Turning Point and I was just blown away by Baryshnikov; like everyone else in the 70s. I guess Sergei has the same level of talent. Am i right?
Although I respected the art and might briefly enjoy watching a solo variation once very few years I was not a ballet fan until a friend showed me a video of Sergei Polunin last year. It would still be more accurate to say I'm a Polunin fan who is learning to appreciate ballet as a whole. At the moment I've seen a lot of his ballet performances and enjoy them, but have only a slowly growing interest in seeing performances that don't have him in them. But certain dancers I've been introduced to through watching him have piqued my interest. Baryshnikov is the exception to the rule, since he's the dancer I've been most familiar with my entire life and is the only one who isn't Sergei that I've watched full ballets of. Baryshnikov is astonishing and exceptional. And yes, Sergei has frequently been compared to Baryshnikov in respects to talent and charisma. Although it's always a bit unfair to compare dancers, since their personalities can't help but influence their work and they are two very different people. However, when it comes to raw talent and ability, Sergei has been recognized by peers, professionals, and critics as one of the best talents of his generation.
Loved it. Thank you 🙏 I appreciate your explanation of your motivation for this video, and I also identify with your sentiments. Thank you for expressing them so honestly and beautifully ❤️
Thanks! So happy to hear! I get a bit self-conscious about my verbosity and near- compulsive desire to explain context, so I'm very glad to hear it was meaningful. (I knew I couldn't be the only one who thought and felt similar things.)
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it (especially since you haven't seen the documentary, so it's nice to know you don't have to know as much about his life to get something out of the video.)
@@melissahumphrey2949 It's very well done. (And I don't just say that because it's Polunin! ha ha.) It's available on TH-cam and on Amazon and I'm sure other places to rent or buy digital or DVD. (I bought the DVD the day after I saw my first Polunin video.) th-cam.com/video/0aEMa3O7PyY/w-d-xo.html
This is one of the best videos I’ve seen that really tells a lot about Sergei’s story. Thank you so much for sharing this.. did you actually create this compilation? Even if you didn’t thank you again for sharing it
Thank you! I'm so glad it conveyed what I was trying to say. And yes, I made this video using footage from "Dancer" and a few clips from other behind the scenes interviews that were made around the same time the footage for Dancer was shot.
Che emozionante! 💙La musica che hai scelto e' perfetta India: tanto tanto amore sincero per Sergei da te e da tutti noi: che Dio lo protegga dalla cattiveria del mondo.
Thank you - and thank you for all your kind comments. ❤ I'm sorry that I don't always have time to reply, but I do read them all and it always means a lot to me to know that others find meaning in the work I make. Grazie - e grazie per tutti i vostri gentili commenti. ❤ Mi dispiace di non avere sempre il tempo di rispondere, ma li leggo tutti e per me significa sempre molto sapere che gli altri trovano un significato nel lavoro che faccio.
No problem. Sappiamo che non e' possibile rispondere sempre a tutti. E' bello che siamo cosi' tanti ad amare Sergei e questo e' possibile anche grazie a te❤ al tuo prezioso lavoro.
What a compelling, complicated man . . . he seems to be two vastly different people inhabiting one body, with more than its share of grief . . . brings me to tears . . . .
Yes. He is, as you say, a very compelling, complicated man, with a lot of depth of thoughts and feelings. Despite how often he has been misrepresented by the media, it’s not difficult to see the sensitive, humble, and beautiful person he is.
@richardcleveland8549 While he still has his own personal struggles and pains, I don’t see him as tormented or anywhere near as troubled now as he seemed to be before he met his wife, Elena, in 2019. (After the times in his life depicted in this video, which was my response to watching “Dancer”, which depicts his life up until around 2015. And at that time he did often seem very tormented.) Elena and his children seem to be a very stabilizing presence in his life and give him the love, support and family he was missing.
