It just occurred to me that when I open an internet web browser to visit TH-cam to look up a Son Wu tutorial, I actually do indeed already know who it is. 🤯🤯🤯
i've been struggling with my OT for a months now and hands down, this is one of the best tutorial OT videos i've seen out there, no bullshit, straight to the point, simple and clear! thx a lot for this
Bought a KOII, found and loved your channel, learned loads from your tutorials. Then I decided to buy an Octatrack (arriving later today)…I’m feeling slightly unsure of the decision given the age of the device and depth of workflow. Then .. I see you also have Octatrack videos… now I feel much better haha
It will be frustrating at first, but if you put the work in it’ll be very rewarding. If you need private lessons to speed things up 👉 ko-fi.com/sonwu Good luck 😉
Many thanks for your videos! At this point I don't even have the OT yet, just considering getting one. Currently learning the DT. Videos like yours help me understand this beast.
I dont even have it yet but this helps so much along with your other OT videos.. I've trained hard with MPC ONE as my main for 6 months, and i think it's time to move up to OT... my appetite for live performance is getting stronger
I have Syntact, so I am familiar with the general idea of Elektron workflow, centered on the parameter locks. But I could never understand what OT is all about. I was watching the videos, where ppl put stickers labeling the channels it looked like Chinese. Now I finally get the idea. Can you please explain in the same manner, what is crossfader AB doing, because it is also unique for OT?
Thanks for you feedback! The scenes AB are similar to parameter locks. You hold down A or B, then you lock in certain parameters. You can then slide seamlessly from your normal parameters (for example if you haven't locked any parameters on the currently selected A scene) to the locked ones in scene B, or between locked parameters of 2 different scenes. Hope this makes sense :)
@@SONWU Oh, so this is gradual transition from values locked on A to the common values on the central position and then from central to values locked on B? So actually there are 3 points (left-center-right) with intermediate values?
Hi! Absolutely, I offer Octatrack lessons as well. You can book private lessons here: ko-fi.com/sonwu/shop (I'm using the OP-Z as the thumbnail for lessons, but all gear is included in that) Looking forward to hearing from you!
Very well explained. So you can have record, playback, and midi all at once on one track or only one? Been eyeing the Octatrack for years. Everytime I get close to purchasing I start to have doubts. I see from your most recent comment you moved on. Any reason and what did you get as a replacement?
Thanks! Yes, these functions are all available at the same time. I am actually thinking of rebuying the Octatrack at the moment. It really is a great sampler and a very flexible addition to any setup. There are some gripes and limitations, but once you properly learn it and see how to use it in your setup it is great. There's a reason it's been around for so long and seemingly is more popular than ever. The only thing holding me back right now is...money, and wondering if an OP-Z field will be released soon. Because in terms of MIDI sequencer the OP-Z is a great replacement. But not as good a sampler.
@@SONWU Thanks for responding and your overview was one of the best out there. You made it more simple to understand. Glad to hear you may buy again. That is a good sign. Seems lots of people buy and sell OT multiple times and still come back. From other videos it appears to be a swiss army knife of samplers with tons of FX capabilities. I am sold and will definitely be buying one. Looking forward to the learning curve challenge.
thank you. i had to download the video and watch it in 2.25x speed to pay attention. leaving this streaming so i can give u the views and watch time lol
i stupidly didnt know (only had this device 2 weeks or less) the midi tracks are a whole separate 8 tracks than the main ones. also didnt know how the arp was edited until you did it. So thanks for that

The OT is certainly a great device, if you like flexibility and trying out new things. (and solving puzzles)

On Syntact there is "Fill" condition, which means a parameter lock will trigger only when/while "Fill" is pressed, so this slider works similarly?
Bang Bang😎

Great bre@kdown .. just got a mk1 ..I'm going in ...COVER ME
Thanks, good luck! You will be rewarded, if you invest time!
