  • On the outskirts of Oslo city just on the border to the forest, one finds the Holmenkollen National Ski Arena. This area houses the Holmenkollen ski jumping hill, a cross country and biathlon skiing arena. There is also a roller skiing track for use in the summer season.
    Did you know the wild theory that Norwegians are born with skis on? After exploring the ski jump I head into the ski museum to find out more about skiing in Norway. Then it's up to the top of the ski jumping tower. After enjoying the amazing view, it's either the elevator down again, or a Zipline know as "Kollensvevet".
    Make sure to check out Holmenkollen and the Ski Museum next time you are in Oslo!

    This is a really, really great video. I went to see Holmenkollen a few days ago, but my footage and photos are pretty dismal compared to this. As an expat Norwegian in London, this is a phenomenal introduction to Holmenkollen and a few Norwegian idiosyncracies (god help us). Much kudos.

    Wow! I wouldn't mind doing the zip line, but not upside down! Great video of a favorite sport of Norwegians.

    Another great video! I took the tram up and did all the things you showed here, including the zip line! And you are correct, the views from the top are beautiful in every direction. Thanks again for bringing back great memories. Stay healthy.

    This was great Pål! We didn't make it up to Holmenkollen on our visit to Oslo but now I feel like we did. Maybe the zip line will be in a future TH-cam adventure? :)

    Great video Pål. We didn't see the ski jumping area when we were in Oslo a couple of years ago. Thought you were going to roller ski down the hill. Now that would have been a great end to your video.

    Wow. Wonderful video Pal. Planning oslo trip in June. Can you please guide how much walk would it be from train station to ski jump area as we have a couple of elderly people with us. And also are there cabs available which can take directly to ski area from downtown..thanks a lot.

    • @norwaywithpal
      @norwaywithpal  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hei Dave, thanks for watching the episode. There are for sure cabs that will take you up there.
      To walk up to the part where you face the ski jumping hill is about 800 meter (0,5 miles) from the metro station. In the beginning there is a bit of a steep incline. For someone who are not good at walking or easily gets tired it might be too much. Hard to say really. I guess if you are not in a rush you can go easy. I hope that helped
