Honestly? I’ve always loved the live action take on Hal’s suit. I don’t know if it is comic-accurate or not, but I know the general idea of what Green Lantern is supposed to look like. To make a suit that just looks so ‘alive’ with cosmic energy. All from the center of it’s insignia, with the little lines that channel this energy throughout the entire suite. While not amazing, the CGI was pretty great to me. Pretty awesome for a movie in 2011. But imagine what the suit would look like in a reboot with the animation capabilities we have today? God that would be amazing.
I truly enjoyed this movie, I feel dc has continuity issues. Once they start something , they don't see it through till the end. They get cold feet and give up too soon . Imagine this green lantern in the same universe with Snyder's man of steel. By the way Ryan is the perfect guy to play Hal Jordan
Zack Snyder has already teased the idea that Ryan Reynolds is going to return as Hal in his cut of Justice League, so, you may be right on about what could potentially be possible. Also, I agree with you, this movie was and still is a lot of fun, and I would love to see Reynolds come back. My only complaint is the designers should do some work on the suits, make them less skin tight and more like they’re wearing actual suits.

Before him, Kyle Rayner was chosen. And in the 2-part episode “The Once And Future Thing”, John Stewart is briefly replaced by Hal Jordan, before switching back
Yup, the first Green Lantern was Alan Scott. who made his ring from an alien metorite (not the ring being giving to him by the gaurdians) then came Hal Jordan, then John Stuwart, Kyle Rayner, and then Guy Gardener as protectors of sector 2814.
First positive: DC got the cosmic light of Hal Jordan's white cosmic eyes correct for live action = a powerful alien force guiding him. Second positive: The energy suit is pretty cool too. I can't see Hal sneaking off to put on his uniform. The energy suit transformation makes excellent sense. ☕
Never fully understood the hate for the suit. The CGI hasn't aged well, but the concept is solid. They'd have perhaps been better off using some real-world costume base and applying CGI to that, like they've done with Iron Man or Superman. But I love the lines of green energy that run through the suit.
Hal Jorgan (Green Lantern) & any heroes who wear domino (or painted) masks only conceals their eyes & eyebrows but not their hairs, ears, noses & facial features. Their friends & families (even their enemies) would easily recognize them at a close range, like how Carol easily deduce Hal's identity by his cheek bones, despite speaking in a different voice. Even body heights & shapes are (difficulty or possibly) recognizable.

@@enricopucci7205 ok, but that was NY. Not the brightest of people there. I've met celebrities in person and recognized them immediately (even through the makeup and lighting they use on tv)
According to the comics they did it 100% correct... nothing in green lanterns character or outfit is actually physical it is all energy so they only way to do it all was via CGI
Looking back at it now, I will cut the cg costume some slack. I think this was one of the first comic book movies to use 100% cg costume with motion capture (I believe Iron Man 1 & 2 used a mix of practical and cg). So naturally it’ll look rough. Fast forward to today, cg costumes have gotten better and more prevalent. However I still hold firm that the costume should’ve been practical. At least with Iron Man it makes sense considering a full practical costume of the armor would’ve limited mobility for RDJ and the stuntmen during action scenes. I also think it would’ve been cheaper too.
Hal Jordan's sector (which includes, obviously, Earth) is Sector 2814, so Tomar-Re, Green Lantern of Sector 2813, is effectively Hal's next-door neighbor (by Green Lantern Corps standards of "next-door"). Makes sense that he'd be the one chosen to welcome Hal. There are also Green Lanterns that would be a lot weirder for Hal to grasp than a "talking fish". In the comics, there's: 1. Dkrtzy RRR. a Green Lantern who's a sentient mathematical equation that mathematically proves the existence of free will (I kid you not), 2. Leezle Pon, a sentient hive mind composed of millions of viruses, who handles cases that are literally too small for other Lanterns to handle. 3. Rot Lop Fan, a Green Lantern from a sector that is devoid of stars, where all the races are blind. He believes he's a member of the F-Sharp Bell Corps (because will is associated with a pure f sharp tone in his culture, and they have no words or concepts for Green or Lantern). 4. Olapet, a sentient plant that passes her ring on to her seedling when she dies, who possesses the memory of her and all her ancestors. The current Olapet is the 23rd consecutive Olapet to bear the ring, over tens of thousands of years. 5. Mogo, the "least social" Green Lantern. Mogo doesn't attend meetings on Oa, because he'd destroy its biosphere. Mogo is a living planet. His Green Lantern uniform is comprised of him changing the arrangement of the equatorial forest that covers (and is part of) him into the image of a planet-sized Green Lantern ring. If a Green Lantern dies without being able to pass on their ring, Mogo gathers it up until a successor can be found (that's seen in the ancient war against Darkseid scene in Justice League -- the ring lifts off from the dead Green Lantern's finger, zips around a little bit looking for a worthy bearer, and then Mogo (off-screen) calls it home before Darkseid can grab it.). He can communicate, though, as he can project ring fascimiles (tiny Mojos or humanoids if he thinks a tiny floating planet would freak someone out) and speak and hear through them at virtually unlimited distances. He usually doesn't, though. He really isn't all that social.
I never understood the hate for this movie. I think it was just a viral trend to hate this movie, like a meme or something. I thought this movie was great, the guy who played sinestro was perfect for the role.

In the Green Lantern 2: Rise of The Manhunters, Sinestro and Amon Sur is leading the attack of Zamaron and Oa, Carol Ferris becomes Star Sapphire, Guy Gardner, John Stewart, and Kyle Rayner as the new recruits of the Green Lantern Corps
Many people criticised in the movie how he travelled from earth to sun in mere minutes, however in the comics, Hal Jordan has travelled the entire universe within hours. That means he can travel at greater speeds than lightspeeds

Even though I liked the movie, they should've stuck with Berlanti's script because this one sorta went the way of the Fantastic Four 2.. mostly because of the space cloud boss, and why didnt anybody else think of killing him in the sun? lol They could've just got away with making the movie using the scientist Hector Hammond as the villain of the first movie, still setting up the Sinestro Corps for the second, with the threat of Parallax looming over the trillogy. I also prefer the way Supergirl went with the DEO, if they had the hindsight of that, they could've had Hank Henshaw (J'onn J'onzz) as the boss, they could've still introduced Waller though, Aquaman was cast around this time too.
Yeah the sub-plot with Hammond feels wasted. Plus, Parallax is meant to be a supreme cosmic entity formed from the emotion of fear; not something you can exactly kill. The idea is as silly as if Iron Man had killed Thanos in his 2008 first movie.
And some people complained about all the aliens speaking English while one of the very first things mentioned after Hal becoming Green Lantern is "the ring translator".
I don't know exactly what is the problem with this movie.Could someone explain to me? I mean the CGI for the suit is not the problem is it? I think it was ok for that time
I don't recall if it's ever been stated how big Guardian Space is in the comics but DANG! One Green Lantern for two million sentiant species!? Spread across more than a hundred galaxies!? Is sector 2813 unusually populated and if so re you sure you have time to mentor Hal Jordan, Tomar Re?
The big problem with the Green Lantern Corps is that there is only 3,600 of them. No one lantern could live long enough to visit more than just a tiny fraction of the worlds he is charged with protecting!
Being forcibly hurled through outer space, with only some green fog as evident protection, didn't frighten him much; but waking up indoors on an unfamiliar planet and being told (again) that he's been chosen to be a green lantern, scared the hell out of him. Seems unrealistic to me ... For the scholar in all of us: rough-drafts-of-new-theories.com
If Green Lantern was good the squeal Green Lantern 2 will be in 2013 already really shame for this movie , and now people still think Green Lantern is a joke will I still enjoy Green Lantern Actors did a amazing acting expect looking at screen . How come the ring gives the knowledge about any random green lantern and the quadrants of them but doesn't let him know he is on the fucking home planet of the green lanterns

Maybe the Green Lanterns get their power from the Master Emerald considering that well the Master Emerald is green like the Green Lantern Corp or maybe they get their power by overcoming their fears to do what's right. I'm so confused.
For the record the movie is pretty great although there is one thing that obviously confuses me is the Green Lantern oath actually an oath or is it a poem considering the fact that it rhymes?
I thought the movie was promising. No realization is perfect but it usually takes a few to get the kinks out. Comic books in general are not for adults and could use deep retooling to appeal to more than comic book devotees but I didn't think they did a bad job at all.

They could've just got away with making the movie using the scientist Hector Hammond as the villain of the first movie, still setting up the Sinestro Corps for the second, with the threat of Parallax looming over the trillogy.
I love the Green Lantern video so much
The Green Lantern videos so nice
You should see the video everyone
This movie is good I am not gonna lie
Same agreed
I love the fish man, he's so nice and friendly
One of the best scenes. However, WB has cut too much, and visual effects not so OK. Sosad about waste it.

And some people complained about all the aliens speaking English while one of the very first things mentioned after Hal becoming Green Lantern is "the ring translator".

Hal wakes up in Oa
I don't know exactly what is the problem with this movie.Could someone explain to me?
I mean the CGI for the suit is not the problem is it? I think it was ok for that time
I thought it was a decent moive, people say the cgi on tye suit sucked but really, how do you have a glowing green alien suit look real?
Ranger 1020 I agree. I don't know why people is complaining so much about it, there is other characters and scenes nowdays than look even worse.
TOP TIER SOUNDTRACK.
I think Oa is the best of the movie
I don't recall if it's ever been stated how big Guardian Space is in the comics but DANG! One Green Lantern for two million sentiant species!? Spread across more than a hundred galaxies!? Is sector 2813 unusually populated and if so re you sure you have time to mentor Hal Jordan, Tomar Re?
This was why when in the comics when the green lantern corps was reformed circa 2004 or so the number of the corps was doubled 2 lanterns per sector
The incorrect subtitles are driving me crazy lol
I think Peter Skaarsgard would have been a much more compelling Green Lantern.
he is an amazing actor
Watch this in 2021
The big problem with the Green Lantern Corps is that there is only 3,600 of them.

If Green Lantern was good the squeal Green Lantern 2 will be in 2013 already really shame for this movie , and now people still think Green Lantern is a joke will I still enjoy Green Lantern Actors did a amazing acting expect looking at screen . But the movie will be much better if show more Sinestro my favorite Green Lantern villains , but I did like the ending scene of Sinestro become Yellow Lantern I will remember the RIP squeal .

Green Lantern was good, box office figures and how loud the fans are tend to determine what happens to a movie.
I'm a huge Green Lantern fan and this movie could have been better if there were more and better fight scenes.
How come the ring gives the knowledge about any random green lantern and the quadrants of them but doesn't let him know he is on the fucking home planet of the green lanterns
As the father sent me, so I send you. What I got out of this is, god might send us on a path unexpected or we don’t wanna go on but he does it because he loves us.
3:01 Have you concluded admiring yourself? I always say this every time I see people gazing at themselves in mirrors at malls and other department stores 🏬

It's still better then what we have today
My childhood movie
Yes, the film is not very good. But the costume looks good (except for the mask). It really looks like something alien. The music in this film is very underrated, it is excellent
I like the fact that Ryan makes fun of this movie in the first deadpool
Fun Fact: Green Lantern Can Travel Through Time.
IT WAS A FINE MOVIE.
Maybe the Green Lanterns get their power from the Master Emerald considering that well the Master Emerald is green like the Green Lantern Corp or maybe they get their power by overcoming their fears to do what's right. I'm so confused.
OMG IT TOOK ME THIS MANY YEARS TO REALIZE TOMAR RE WAS IN THIS MOVIE ALONG WITH WOG!!!
For the record the movie is pretty great although there is one thing that obviously confuses me is the Green Lantern oath actually an oath or is it a poem considering the fact that it rhymes?
The men in the green in the ring into the space.
This movie feels amazing when I compare it with She Hulk and Ms Marvel
Please don’t make the super suit green. Or animated!
Why do the subtitles get so many of these words wrong on so many TH-cam videos?
this movie wasn't that bad. i don't understand the hate.
Nice to see facts in this movie humans are actually a very young specious in space-time
I thought the movie was promising. No realization is perfect but it usually takes a few to get the kinks out. Comic books in general are not for adults and could use deep retooling to appeal to more than comic book devotees but I didn't think they did a bad job at all.
Feel sorry for the ISS crew…. How are they gonna explain this one.
geoffrey rush is soooooo perfect.
Perfect fucking movie
Please never mention the citadel again I am sick of the council.
Um sir this is not mass effect.
Oh, this is awkward.
