I cant believe this ,crane is so brave! I have accidentally met a crane last month walked elegantly while catching a small fish to eat.I never stopped taking a video until it flewn away. Thanks for the video.
Really funny? However the eagles simply weren't motivated to put up a fight. If push came to shove, the cranes would be in trouble. Raptor talons rule all!
These are incredible birds. The Florida species of this bird does NOT migrate thus they're here all year round. I've hand fed them as a pair with chicks. They are in fact quite friendly towards humans if you don't show aggression. They mate for life so this is either a Juvenile or it lost its spouse. It looks like a female as males are slightly larger. yeah its a humbling experience to look each other in the eye from one foot away.
@@algladyou according to the cranes and the other eyewitness birds the eagles were threatening everyone with violence, it being Florida a stand your ground state, the cranes were just defending themselves and the other birds against a perceived attack by the eagles
My casual observation (1) the crane recognizes an enemy in a vulnerable position (2) the eagles are not afraid but (2a) the eagle aerial advantage is null, (2b) the eagle is wise enough to avoid harm from Beak or claw. The eagles are bathing/relaxing... another time and place and a death dive possibly leaves the crane as a meal. .. in louisiana these cranes are formidable... but they "aint" eagles...
Wow I wondered if they engaged if the SHC could win a battle. Longer legs but I don’t think they could grip and hold the ABE. I watched a video of an ABE attack a GB Heron and take one adult right off its nest. Terrible wailing from the GBH as they were still in the branches of the tree while the mate looked down helplessly. The Eagle finally killed the Heron and both fell to the ground.
For one thing the cranes are much taller and with a wingspan almost that of the eagles they are imposing in their own right. Plus while cranes are threatened by the eagles being nearby they are not afraid to move toward the eagles to push out of their area. The eagle would be in for an awkward fight with the crane because of the height difference.
@@michaeldeierhoi4096 The cranes likely have offspring nearby, and the eagles aren't motivated to stand their ground. If push came to shove, don't kid yourself.... Those eagle talons would make quick work of the crane! Height difference? They're all spindly leg! and neck. The body mass is about the same, less the talons!

Yeah those cranes can even bully cats and gators - although I'm not so sure they would fare well against a puma, unless the crane managed to trick a charging puma into running off a cliff.
Philippine eagles are on the other side of the globe and in rainforest. Some Sandhill cranes are found in northeast Asia but not near the Philippine eagles.
The bald eagle is known to be not very brave and it is also called the bald eagle. But if the golden eagle or the martial eagle were in his place, he would have killed that bird
They're beautiful in flight though. they have about an 8 or 9 foot wingspan. They're also one of the highest flying birds in the world even though they spend most of their time walking around (if they're not migrating which the Florida species doesn't do).
That is not true, I saw bald eagles kill adult geese, ducks and other waterfowl. They don't only feed on fish. That eagle could have easily killed that crane if it was airborne.
Actually the eagle was minding its own business from what I discern. however on the ground the Sand Hill can be territorial. They're VERY friendly towards us though.
