Some growers swear by organic nutrients. Before you try growing with them, you need to know a couple things.
I'm a big fan of growing with synthetics. By the end of this video, you might be too.

Snap and I agree, there is a huge difference, you get a lot of those earthy mouthwatering flavours that usually are associated with outdoor-grown. Also, it's very hard to overdo organic inputs to the point of lockouts, so you shouldn't really have issues. That's not to say you can't add too much, often newbies make the mistake of adding too many different amendments that do the same thing.

It also happens to be a fact. Growing synthic since the 90s and being doing both side by side for the last 10yrs and no matter what strain or what lighting, in or outdoors it always comes back the same. The organically grow herb always smells and tastes better.

@@english1midlands Indeed, synganic is another way to grow. And to be fair, the average person couldn't give 💩💩 about if it's synthetic, organic, indoor, outdoor or any combination, they want to feel medicated, individual tastes are subjective, and not everyone is even looking for those subtle afternotes and tones.

I grow outdoors plants, I try to put them in a good soil base - but all my fertilizer is synthetic. My plants get 6 - 7 feet tall and grow beautiful buds, if I only tend to the pruning. I'm 71 and have grown some poor weed and some bomber weed in my day, and as mentioned on this show before, it's the genetics. I have friends who grow organic, bomber weed -they tend to be more fanatical gardeners than I am. About all I grow besides the weed is garlic, onions, hot peppers and tomatoes. I'm a lazy, relaxed old dude. Peace out, be kind - we all become fertilizer of some sort.

I consider myself an organic grower, shoutout to Jeremy at Build a Soil and Tad Hussey at KIS Organics, for my primary garden. I mix my own soil, have multiple worm bins, compost bins, and have spent enough money on Organic amendments to buy a small car. I have used Grow Dots in an Earthbox as a side by side with my own soil. The Grow Dots plant started slower, but finished about the same size as my regular soil. Both tasted good, but my organic had a slightly higher yield. I also use GrowDots in my "Mephisto Mini" garden with mixed nut containers, coco, pumice, wicking rope, and Mephisto Freebie tester seeds. I can get about an Oz. from each plant just by filling the bottom of reservoir tub whenever it is dry and adding in some Recharge, Microbe Complete, and Bio-Phos once a week.
Is one better than the other? No way I could get an Oz. out of a nut container using my living soil, but I love providing a buffet then letting the soil and the plant decide what it needs. Is one tastier than the other, I prefer the flavors and natural senescence from the Organic, because I just do. I have spent a ton of money being organic, so my mind must justify that as better. If you gave me two joints and asked me which was organic and which was synthetic, I could probably get 60-70 % correct, which honestly isn't much higher than randomly guessing!

I was shocked to discover this. I think the reason is because the source of the raw material, such as sea water- is natural. These chemicals can be produced synthetically too, but the chemicals are identical are identical to the ones that occur in nature.

Excellent explanation, as usual. I'm an organic grower (currently). Here's a question maybe you'd be willing to tackle: It's been said that there's no need to flush with organic growing, supposedly because the plant somehow 'knows' it's time to stop taking up nutrients as it's going into senescence. Supposedly it's different with synthetics. This makes no logical sense to me.
When I grow organically and I DO flush, I measure the runoff after each flush cycle. The EC that I measure after the first flushing is higher than when I grew synthetically! The next flush has a lower EC, then lower, etc... EC meters only measure ionic compounds, not organic. SO I do not see the logic in concluding that organic growers don't need to flush.
Also: growers can't even agree on what flushing IS. Some folks think that just giving water for the last couple of weeks is flushing. When I use my toilet, I don't consider adding water as flushing. I consider flushing it as flushing. If liquid is not coming out the bottom of the pot, how can it be flushing? TH-cam grow channels often say that there's no difference between non-flushed organic-grown weed and flushed hydroponic weed. Again I say that these statement defy logic BECAUSE of what you say about the plants only being able to take up ionic salts.
I'm thinking of switching back to synthetic nutrients because I feel that the information about organic vs synthetics that is being fed to growers is in many cases deeply flawed and sometimes just downright false.
Scotty, would you be willing to address these apparent contradictions in a video? Or even here in the comments? Please forgive me if you already and have and I missed it.
    Thanks bro.
P.S. Will we ever see Hi C, the man with all the questions? OR, maybe keeping him out of sight helps us viewers imagine ourselves as the questioner ;) I love the format :)

Here's where I may be going wrong: my assumption is that soluble ionic salts in the soil will dissolve in any water applied, and therefore be taken up by the roots. I know that a plant in senescence takes up less water- therefore less solubilized nutrients. BUT, can the roots selectively take up water but NOT the available dissolved nutrients? This is the part I just can't seem to grasp.

I legit use Recharge in everything except dwc, and it absolutely has a positive impact on the root zone every time.
I admittedly will only grow food with organics and that's not because I'm afraid of the synthetics I use but because I grow food to save money, and organic produce at the grocery store is always more expensive so the way I look at it, I might as well go for the top dollar stuff in my garden at a fraction of the cost. The fact is that organically grown bud is simply better quality than synthetic, due to the higher level of secondary metabolites that are produced from the biotic stress caused by the breakdown of organic matter. This does not occur as much when using synthetic nutrients. Synthetic bud may look great because the grow environment was perfectly stable and thus produced high levels of primary metabolites - but the overall effect is comparatively weaker than organic because there are not enough secondary metabolites in the bud. Only a side by side smoke test will prove this point.

From what I've seen on-line, the main problem people have growing isn't in how they grow, or the fertilizer regimens, it's in their environment using leds. You have to adjust your environment to run leds without seeing "deficiencies". Think about it, why would you have deficiencies if everything the plant needs is in the soil or irrigation.

Organic cannabis fosters biology that help terpene production. Many life forms increase terpene production of plants via their presence. Organic tends to be really easy for me to avoid mistakes because problems don’t arise as harshly. If you transplant before flower into fresh soil you won’t see any deficiency until Week 4 or 5 and it’ll show up in the form of a minor deficiency first. When deficiencies arise in Organic flower runs, Synganic becomes the best approach. But it’s best to aim for analog organic forms of chelation rather than use a synthetic bottle line. Calcium Phosphate is in GH and Drip Hydro and is more likely to lockout your plants and kill your effective microbiology in your soil. For Calcium, I use Calcium Silicate which chelates into Calcium Citrate and Silicic acid via Citric Acid application for pH. I use Epsom Salt for Magnesium which also chelates into Magnesium citrate and Sulfiric acid. I apply Sea 90 once per month for micros at 1 tsp per gallon. I use liquid Fish Hydrolysate/Rock Phosphate/Potash to address NPK issues as they’re all relatively water soluble and chelates with Citric acid. Recharge is also a great way to further chelate any remaining Calcium, Magnesium, Nitrogen, Phosphorous or Potassium in solution as it creates Nitrate forms through its Amino Acid content as well as Humic and Fulvic being great chelators.

Synthetics is/was a pain. In my not so humble opinion, take better care of the living soil cycle and the better the plants(flowers) will be. Recycled soil, no-till, compost, teas and mulching is the way for me… Incredible tasting bud. No salt build-up from synthetics.(and worry of fertilizer burn), no ph testing… easy peasy… No need to buy plastic bottled nutrients from all the pot-casts!

And results are way bigger, easier to grow, best flavor, minimum to no visible bugs on plants, and i can charge more for my product...but i dont. When i was growing marijuana in the 90s and i did all the best synthetic and when i flipped to organic it was night and fuken day difference and never looks back. Large volumes of soil provide a huge buffer. No plants are dying and getting deathly ill overnight. No-till living soil beds are king!! It all works, and im glad their are options. I use "organic mixes" and Dr Earth's amendments. I started with Miracle Grow soil, once and only once. Since then I've mixed my own, and more recently Ocean Forest grew my best harvest yet, with Dr Earth's Flower Girl for the flower stage. I intend to keep growing that way too. The idea of mixing nutes from bottles and worrying about ppm and pH sounds like a lot more hassle than what I'm doing. But I don't judge anyone for how they grow. Recharge and Stash Blend are both awesome to use in organic mixes and I use one or the other once a week, alternating or a little bit of both. Stash Blend has some different stuff and I want the diversity.

I promise you. I’ve tested and grown strictly organic for years. You can also feed “synthetic” nutrients in living soil without any actual problems. Hardly a difference in potency and flavor.

Getting my recharge. What does Scotty Real suggest as best practices with recharge. I am redoing my corn bed. Using worm bed dirt and brown carbons from the yard compost. And recharge. Don't think I need any bio char as black soil now. I have some worm leachate to hit recharge with. Like a shoot of nos on a car. I also plant purple pole beans and squash. With some red clover that grows more red nodes that give bacteria a place to live and fix nitrogen. In my organic plan I am calling recharge inoculant. Is there a kind of wood recharge prefers better? I even tried using boiled rice to culture what was in soil by great growing spot and move it. I hate buying inputs and sprays. I am a cheap ask. Your welcome real growers. I needed more inoculant any way. Saved recite will write off on taxes too.
