hello bro! i just came across your video on youtube and i would like to ask you a couple of questions if you don't mind. i bought 150 acres for farming in ibarapa north, Oyo state. i'm considering what i sshould go for between maize and cassava. Any ideas please? i'm tired living abroad. i wanna go home but need to set up a strong business. Thanks for the video
Yes. In Nigeria, cassava is used more extensively than maize in various industrial and home applications. And there is still a considerable supply-demand gap, particularly for high-quality cassava flour and starch, which are in high demand for industrial use. Since you're going the large scale, i will recommend you do more of cassava. You might wanna start contacting companies like Psaltry International and Thai Farm International for potential business deals. Thanks for watching, and let's talk further if needed.
Good one 👍 Just like he has advised, for a large scale production based on your land size, cassava cultivation might be more rewarding. Although, maize isn't a bad idea, as there are countless poultry businesses in Nigeria who rely on the local feed manufacturers for their inputs. And, apart from the use of maize as part of the ingredients used in poultry feed manufacturing, it is also used in the manufacturing processes of other foods consumed by man - e.g. Semovita, et al.
Also, the recommendation of Psaltry International is a great one, I think Mrs. Yemisi Iranloye is a huge offtaker of cassava. She reportedly has a number of smallholder farmers in her network . Again, please do your market research well and decide which of the options is a good fit for you.
By the way, please did you acquire your parcel of land in Ibarapa, Oyo state, from a real estate firm or deal directly with the family selling the farmland?
Informative 👏

@@TheFarmInnovator I started a 4 hectare oil palm plantation last month and the planters suggested I cross plant cassava and corn to help with weed management. What’s your take on this?
Yes, it is beneficial. Intercropping oil palm with cassava and corn can suppress weed growth by limiting the space available for weeds to establish themselves.
Plus, while waiting for the oil palm to mature (which can take a few years), your cassava and corn can provide an additional source of income.
Thank you
