Your right Pedro is the wrong age, wrong look and a ridiculous casting for Reed Richards, looks like her grandad. Fans were already excited about Krazinski. Why didn't they stick with him.
Krasinki has said a lot of times that cameo was just for the fans, but he didnt want to BE THE Reed Richards of the MCU. Thats why he wont be in this film
Krasinski is like 4 years younger than Pedro… Not that big of a difference. Looks wise I guess taste differers. But I like him. Plus, Reed is usually depicted as older in the comics with some salt and pepper even. Don’t know why everyone is expected a young guy…
@@scottp302 He was the Jar Jar Binks of the DCEU. One of the worst casting choices ever. He might have made a decent Riddler (better than the guy in The Batman) but he wasn't even close to being right for Lex Luthor. Such a horrible pick.
@@I-speak-U-shut-it I dont know, pedro to me looks like that typical college physics teacher, so it could work, I wonder if they are going to change the name of reed and his background
100% agree. Pedro is as much of a Reed Richards as Ezra Miller was a Barry Allen. And don’t even get me started on what they did to Namor the Submariner.
Namor is one of my top three favorite villains-back when he still was mostly considered a villain-and I thought they did a really interesting mock up of him for a modern film adaption that distanced him from becoming what normies would've called him and you know it: Aquados. I also really enjoyed how they intertwined what seemed like Aztec&Mayan culture into his back story and kingdom. It was a really great breakaway from the same "king of Atlantis" schtick we get for both DC's and Marvel's number one amphibian.
Pedro actually fits the age range and is a good actor and would bring great dedication and creativity to the role, so why don’t we wait until we’ve watched the movie to judge ok?
Nope. Too much to ask that we get actors who fit the role. Today, we fit the role to the actor. Well, nah, we don't even bother to do that. We just check the necessary DEI box and write a steaming pile of hot garbage for a script then blame audiences when they don't like it.
Exactly. They didn't even race or gender swap that much here. I pretty much agree with Snarky Jay here; the other three are mediocre who may or may not work but Pedro Pascal is horrendous, legitimately one of the dumbest men in Hollywood with his political takes, and doesn't even look the part. You can't fix this movie that jackass as it's star. This is Brie Larson and Ben Affleck all over again.
Whist his looks will fit well for the role, I would reckon that his height would have been an issue as he’s only about 5’ 8. They’ll need someone closer to 6 ft. Pedro Pascal is a a very bizarre option for the role, the shape of his face just don’t match any of the comic book iterations of Reed Richards
Snarky J: “...and what was wrong with John Krasinski?” Me: YES!!!! And Emily Blunt as SUE?!?! Netter (my wife): Calm down, sweetie. She can't hear you and you're hurting my ears.
BRUH SAME😢 In that movie it bothers me how they brought in Patrick Stewart back as Charles X. But not Ioan Grufford as Reed Richards. Both of those guys exist in 20th Century Fox of Marvel Entertainment. Bringing Kransiski on Dr Strange 2 was bad for business. That's like bringing in Tom Holland in that Captain America flick only to kill him off by The Winter Soldier and have a whole new actor EVEN WORST...an actor who ain't white as Holland's replacement for Spiderman Homecoming 😅😅😅
... and would say "wise" words like "learning doesn't stop at school. Even Einstein keep on learning until old age. I learned that I am not the smartest at all. Little boy Sheldon or the young Shikimaru from Konoha Village seems they are. And teach my fellow illuminati to stop calling me the smartest man alive. It's too cringe". 😁😁😁
Adam Driver, Matt Smith and Jake Gyllenhaal all turned down the role of Reed Richards, after reading the part. It sounds like the premise is that Reed Richards is a neglectful and abusive husband and the film concentrates on Sue Storm finding her own inner strength to become leader of the F4. Pedro is an activist and doesn't mind taking a knee.
Even if somehow they got the cast completely right, I’m not particularly interested since the MCU’s first official appearance of Mr. Fantastic was him getting ripped to shreds within five seconds in the one Dr. Strange movie everyone immediately forgot about (and no, the multiverse excuse does not help). So yeah, I’m just apathetic to it. Also I admit I kinda liked the old 2000s Fantastic Four movie. Unironically.
@@user-wk2rw7le3m to call Mr. Fantastic (who deserves better than shitty writing and direction) a D tier because he simply stretches is sheer, fucking stupidity on your part, and on the poor stewards running Marvel.
When the book debuted in 1960 Johnny was a teenager and Sue in her early twenties. While Reed and Ben where WWII Vets yes they were stated as being WWII vets it's why Reed had a touch of white in his hair. So there has always been a big age difference between Reed and Sue.
Per FF #11, the mail bag at the front of the issue, they were basically the same age. "But Sue, you know [you were the girl I thought of when I was in the war]! It's always been you, ever since we were kids together living next door to each other!" That would later be changed, but originally, they were the same age.
@@garypoisson2733 That was one of those moments where Stan forgot to do the math. Like in X-Men # 3 Charles thinks to himself how he was in love with Jean.
@@garypoisson2733Nah, he's right😅. I remember reading a reprint of Xmen 2 or 3 and when Xavier " thought" that about Jean, I remember being MAJOR Confused. Stan had a bad moment😅
@bronzetiger6360 I do know the Jean moment. Charles lighting his pipe and thinking "As though I could help worrying about the one I love!" about Jean. I'm asking for support for the large age differential between Reed and Sue in the early FF run; counter to the FF #11 bit that puts them as childhood sweethearts.
"Pero coño no jodas 😂" BTW the main reason John Krassinski didnt stay as Reed Richards is because Emily Blunt dosent wanna play Sue Storm. She hates comic book movies and has turned down Marvel since 2008 when they offered her the role of Black Widow
I read that she had to turn it down as she was already engaged in another film. Regardless, she did recently state that she doesn't want to play 'boss babe' hero type characters as they are rather boring to perform for her.

The 2005 Fantastic 4 was superb casting. Each actor nailed their character in both looks, personality and simply the vibe you got off them. Gone are the days of casting for talent or to mirror the actor with the character. As we all know these days an actor is cast first and foremost for their skin color, sexual orientation or political views.
Ioan Gruffudd: Not impressed. But I was surprised when I learned that he voiced Mister Miracle in Justice League Unlimited. Michael Chiklis: The best actor in the cast. Chris Evans: I agree with Snarky Jay that he’s a better Captain America Jessica Alba: Nicest thing I could say about her is that I’d prefer to see her return for either Deadpool 3 or Secret Wars than see Margot Robbie play Sue Storm.
Bro what are you talking about? Everyone is white in this cast.... Before people say Pedro isn't, his family is from Spain and only recently went to Chile.
I honestly don’t see any issues here, all of them are proven to be excellent actors…. There isn’t even any race or gender swapping going on here. Pedro Pascal is a white guy… what’s the issue? Surely people aren’t upset he is Latino? Speaking Spanish (a European language) doesn’t mean you aren’t white, there is an entire country of white people who speak Spanish… Spain. Am I missing something here?
I feel the same way you do Jay. Pretty meh choices, but Pedro Pascal is the wrong choice for Reed. But like you said, we have to click the checkboxes. Such a shame ☹️
I only now discovered your channel, young lady. Funny that THIS particular broadcast would be my introduction to you. I love how you dealt with your skeptics and now you have me intrigued. Consider me a subscriber going forward.
Honestly I feel that the 2000's Fantastic Four movies were cast really well, they just weren't given the best material to work with. I have to admit, I was dreading seeing Pedro cast as Mr Fantastic because those rumours came alongside some broad plot details that sound atrocious but pretty much on brand for current Marvel. I'm hoping that one doesn't confirm the other or that they've course corrected since then because if they haven't then we're not in for a good time with this outing. Still, I suppose it can't be any worse than Fan4stic, right?... right?
I lost faith in Disney a long time ago. They continue to prove over and over again that they have no idea what they are doing. They also have zero respect for source material. Out of all the Star Wars trash that they have been producing, I would agree with you on Andor. I actually enjoyed that one as well. Unfortunately there are way too many people, writing, directing, producing and creating projects within these established franchises that have no business being there.
Exactly, why even put Krasinski Doc strange as Mr. Fantastic if youre going to cast Pascal.... as Bill Nye would say "That just makes no fucking sense" Isnt Disney Marvel doing the multiverse thing? Then it should still be Krasinski. I dont know about this, man...
@@snarkyjayAt this point it's pretty obvious to me that Kevin Feige just put Krasinski as Reed Richards in DS2 for fans to STOP fancasting him as the character. Andor was more sophisticated and brilliantly executed than anyone expected from Disney. From what I've noticed, people who can tolerate the slow pace, love Andor.
What do you mean "3 ppl liked Andor" It holds high reviews everywhere. It's probably one of the best SW productions post original trilogy, maybe even better than OGT.
Totally agree about Pascal. It reminds me of when Peter Dinklage started popping up in a LOT of roles after GoT. I love the guy but got damn did he get worn out fast.
I agree with some of the others on here that have said. The 2005 Fantastic 4 may have had a lot of problems but the casting of the 4 was not one of them. Especially Evans and Chiklis who were literally perfect. The problem was a lack luster script that lacked punch in the last act and a major marvel villain that was dispatched like a dirty Kleenex. This new cast. listing leaves me very uninterested in seeing it. Do better Marvel!
Sue was ok. Not bad not good just ok. I hated the way Doom was done which sucks because he’s one of the greatest villains ever. The rest of the cast was great though.
@@brannoncash5806all I can remember about sue in the movie was The weird thing of when she turned invisible she would strip down for a lame joke. After seeing more different portrayals of sue in games and animation like the animated shows or marvel ultimate alliance 3 (which has a very good portrayal of the whole team) having more of an older sister vibe and having quite an intellect of her own I am hoping Vanessa Kirby is more like that cause it was hard to even realise sue and Johnny are siblings in those movies even sue supposed to be older
In the comics the Storm siblings were in High school when they became super heroes just like Peter Parker when he became Spider-man as their readers were kids.
The problem with Ben Grimm won't be the actor, it will be the special effects used to carry off The Thing - consider the stff train wreck that was She-Hulk in the Disney+ show.

After the aweful cameo scene "the smartest man" title who also did the dumbest thing by telling Scarlet Witch how to destroy Black Bolt and He died in the Dr Strange 2 movie, so much backlashed was received I don't think John Krasinki will return.
That was the script though. IMHO the script was bad on so many levels that I don't blame any single actor for it. It didn't just do all the characters dirty, it did the entire sequel premise dirty for both Strange AND Wanda given that: #1. Strange and Mordo had an epic confrontation waiting to happen in DS2 - not Strange and Wanda. #2. Wanda already resolved her issues in WandaVision which just made MoM seem like it was kneejerk thrown together at the last minute with Wanda as the villain simply because they couldn't think of something better that wasn't based on an end credit scene from 5 years earlier. They really missed a trick in leaving developing the Strange/Mordo emnity out of Thor Ragnarok or Black Panther or (somehow) Captain Marvel - huge botch job. Having Strange/Mordo in Thor Ragnarok would have made far more sense than the Hulk anyway - and we could have had them set their problems aside to fight Thanos together for Infinity War.
The fact both that version (fancasted request,) and Inhumans Black Bolt were so humiliated tells me Feige was doing a carrot on a stick bait and switch troll move to fans. Honestly, Joey Diaz should’ve been the thing. I recommend you watch a video of his stand up and listen to his voice. He was practically born for it. Also, as a Latino myself, I love Pedro Pascal, but Reed Richards needs to be played by someone with a Johnny Carson-like face and charisma to his voice and character. That’s how I always saw him in the Jack Kirby illustrations.
I know it was done on a shoestring budget and the visuals aren't the best but the heart shown in the 1990s Fantastic Four movie is why its still the best movie adaption of Marvel's first family.
IGN had a headline, "Why Pedro Pascal could be the MCU's next Robert Downey Jr." ... They probably needed Pedro's gravitas (I kinda hate that word) to carry this universe considering past F4's bombs and recent Marvel duds. 3:10
RDJ might be the single best casting choice in all film history. He's certainly within the top 0.1% Without RDJ there would be no MCU. He carried the franchise. If Pedro can be 50% as good as RDJ he will be a success. It remains to be seen if he can do that. And yes, he will need to shave the stache. He owes us that much. It's just frustrating he never got to see the impact of his work.
@@dcmastermindfirst9418 I meant how Ledger was following in the footsteps of other actors who'd played the role of the Joker. Even in the Dark Knight, there are homages to Cesar Romero's Joker. He put his own stamp on it, for sure, but there are many performances of the role that one can compare. Rdjr didn't have that with how he played Iron Man. Nobody had played him in Live action prior to this. As for Rdjr's acting. Watch RDjr in Chaplin (1992), where he plays Charlie Chaplin. He was Oscar nominated for the role, and was 27 at the time he played the part. He does his own stunts, including backflips, rolls and hand stands. The same stunts Charlie Chaplin himself performed. Geraldine Chaplin, Charlie Chaplin's real life daughter (she plays Charles Chaplin's mother), lost her composure during one scene with Rdjr, as she said he looked so like her father, she thought he WAS her father. They had to give her a moment, to let her get herself together, or else they could not film the scene. Iron Man is a film that brought him back from the acting wastelands, and while I'm not a fan of the film, he had no template to follow in terms of how to play the role. I think I'm one of the only people on the planet that actually liked Tim Story's FF movies. The casting was great, the VFX were great for the time (and honestly still mostly hold up), and they had the humor, heart, and gentle simplicity of the Stan Lee and Jack Kirby run of Marvel's First Familiy. Marvel is on a losing streak now and, as someone who LOVED Krasinski in the role and LOVES Pedro Pascal, it should have been Krasinski in the role. There is no question Pedro is a miscast. Honestly, given a good enough script, I could probably look past his miscast, but the problem is even bigger than the casting, the problem is: it shows where Marvel's head is at... ...up it's ass. Also, I am one of the people who get the Arrested Development reference.

John Krasinski looked great as Mr Fantastic and Emily Blunt would of been great as Sue Storm?! they missed a great opportunity with not using those two.
Marvel is committing to these actors. So when fans say Pedro is no good as Reed theyre not going to replace him. He'll be needed forcat least ONE more movie. So FF2(or Doomsday) will start with a crutch. Great. Anyone get the feeling they're going to fuck up X-Men as well?
I thought the intro was funny. There were also many parts which I agree with (especially Pedro Pascal) and thought you were cute at (3:10). Happy Friday Eve!
I agree, Pedro is a horrible choice for Reed Richards but thank goodness they didn't go with Captain Morgan (Adam Driver)! Why couldn't they just cast an actor that looks the part which is\was the norm for so long instead of Captain Morgan & Zorro look-a-likes or their usual race/gender swapping which kills the story, mood & any association between characters and fans, oh & profits. Wokeness killed entertainment for the 21st century.
Hate Pascal. Sorry. No, actually, not sorry. And by the way, got the ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT reference, so thanks for the kiss. (You should speak in Spanish more frequently in your videos.)
I find Padro Pascal to be wildly overrated. That being the case, OF COURSE Marvel is picking someone who doesn't fit the part. I'm surprised they didn't make Reed Richards a chick or trans... it wouldn't be far fetched. Reid Richards. LOL
Not great casting at first glance, it IS disappointing to longtime comic book fans. But since the MCU isn't depicting the mainstream comic book universe they don't prioritize comic book accuracy. We'll just have to see how this MCU-616 (technically Earth 199999) version of the FF comes across. Let's not forget that after Chris Evans nailed the Johnny Storm role, most people were skeptical of his MCU casting as Steve Rogers. But he pulled it off. Maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised here too...
About the age gap. I might be wrong but wasn't it established in the comics that Reed was a college professor and Sue was one of his college students? I'm not saying that it's not creepy but I'm just saying that's how I remember it. That Reed was always considerably older than Sue. That said. I Do think they should have chosen a younger actor and maybe aged him up to Look older so that he can perform the role for the next ten years. 🤷🏾♂
Exactly @Snarky Jay! John Krasinski and his wife Emily Blunt wouldve been perfect for Reed and Sue. You'd have had the natural chemistry of a married couple playing a married couple.
Reed Richards and Sue Storm should have been played by Matt Bomer and Alice Eve, Damn I hate Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige, I so hope this movie gets canceled. 🤦🏾🤦🏾
You guys know when they cast these things there’s a whole audition process right? Most of the time fans bitch and then the movie comes out and everyone goes “oh wow what a great performance”. Not saying Pedro is gonna kill it I don’t know for sure but he must have shown an ability to portray the Reed they’re envisioning lmao 😂 it’s so silly to get so worked out when I’m sure they can make him look like Reed enough and he’s a good actor with a lot of range

Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby age gap is not that bad in comparison Vanessa has played characters that date men who are way older than Pedro case in point The Crown

Honestly the original SUE storm and Reed Richards’s from the 2005 and 2007 rise of the silver surfer fantastic 4 films were the best actors playing them wish they still played those 2 in this reboot
In the OG comics, Reed Richards was substantially older than Sue Storm… he was something like 12-15 years older than her. It’s only been over the last 20 years that writers have evened out the years between the characters.
Took the words right out of my mouth Jay...I feel 100% the same way...But as you already know the days of Disney casting roles that are similar to the comic book character are long dead...The only way I feel that can be resurrected is if Disney loses the distribution rights somehow and the clock gets rewind ed back to phase 1 days...

Go check him out. He might be half Asian, but (to me) he looks way more like Reed Richards in the comics than Senor Pedro. And speaking of the 2005 Fantastic 4 movie, I too think that movie's casting was on point...well, ALMOST on point. They messed up the Sue casting. With Gruffud as Reed, Evans as Johnny and Chiklis as Ben, I would've cast ROSAMUND PIKE as Sue.

I've never seen anything good that had that PP guy in it.
Andor is great. Some say it is not Star Wars; but it worked, and things can change.
I thought the intro was funny. There were also many parts which I agree with (especially Pedro Pascal) and thought you were cute at (3:10). Happy Friday Eve!
Thank you Kaden!
LOL
Pedoreto - the way you say that - brilliant
I agree. Moss-Bachrach is already in the MCU having played Micro in S1 of Punisher. He's a great actor.
Anne Rice hated Tom Cruise playing Lestat, but was quickly bowled over after seeing Tom's performance
You'd have had the natural chemistry of a married couple playing a married couple.
yup
Reed Richards and Sue Storm should have been played by Matt Bomer and Alice Eve, Damn I hate Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige, I so hope this movie gets canceled. 🤦🏾🤦🏾
Oh damn Alice Eve would be great. I always assumed Jodie Comer would be great
Alice Eve is perfect, Matt Bomer doesn't give off scientist vibes
You guys know when they cast these things there’s a whole audition process right? Most of the time fans bitch and then the movie comes out and everyone goes “oh wow what a great performance”. Not saying Pedro is gonna kill it I don’t know for sure but he must have shown an ability to portray the Reed they’re envisioning lmao 😂 it’s so silly to get so worked out when I’m sure they can make him look like Reed enough and he’s a good actor with a lot of range
We know you mean business when the Español comes out!
LMAO legit. It’s the language I revert to when I’m half past annoyed. 😭
@@snarkyjaysounds like my wife lol
Literally Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany are 17 years apart in real life and yet no one complains about that
Ryan Reynolds and Jodie Comer are 17 years apart too!
Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby age gap is not that bad in comparison
Vanessa has played characters that date men who are way older than Pedro case in point The Crown
A lot of people didn't like the casting of Heath Ledger as the Joker but he ended up being the best Joker. These casting choices might end up being good, they might end up being bad, only one way to find out.
“Coño, no joda. This is not the guy” lol that’s why I subbed
i dont know how to feel about it, but that could be due to nostalgia to the first two movies. hard to top in my opinion but it seems like they went online a picked from the most vocal fancasts just cuz that who literally everyone was saying.
Totally agree.
The best cast is Ioan Gruffudd as Reed, Jessica Alba as Sue, Chris Evans as Johnny, and Michael Chiklis as Ben
Let's see what happens 🤷🏻♂️ def not excited lol. Loving the hair 😍 gorgeous!
Thank you!
👍 Exactly.
Not exactly true, reed said they were childhood friends. it wasn't until later it was retconned to a 6 year age gap
Feels like Pedro is in everything just like Sam Jackson.
And Chris Pratt and Keagan Michael Key😢
Took the words right out of my mouth Jay...I feel 100% the same way...But as you already know the days of Disney casting roles that are similar to the comic book character are long dead...The only way I feel that can be resurrected is if Disney loses the distribution rights somehow and the clock gets rewind ed back to phase 1 days...
So true.
Pedro is the only actor I know. Not sure about the others. I personally wish a gruffer fat guy was playing Ben. Also...WHY IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT HERBIE?!?!
Happy Friday Eve Jay!! Disney Were So Preoccupied With Whether Or Not They Could, They Didn’t Stop To Think If They Should 😂😂
LMFAO! Good one Alfred.
The casting didn’t steal my breath away. But Pedro Pascual is the casting that I care the least. But I have to say cast him in a biopic of Charles Bronson and he will be perfect for it. Or in a remake of any of his movies
I'd see a remake of the Dearh Wish franchise with Pascal..
I always knew we were “ friends” … but after the cut away to Arrested Development and the casting suggestion of Glenn Howerton( which I assume indicates that you watch “SUNNY”) ….. we “ Friends Now!”😂🤣
couldn't agree with you more....
and I appreciate you being a Latina would come out and say your grievance with the Pascal casting.
my picks was either Chris Pine or Matthew Goode...and if they just got a major hard on on race-swapping the role, how about IAN ANTHONY DALE, from the Hawaii Five-O reboot series.
With Gruffud as Reed, Evans as Johnny and Chiklis as Ben, I would've cast ROSAMUND PIKE as Sue.
in an alternate universe, ryan reynolds as johnny storm/the human torch, vin diesel as ben grimm/the thing, jim carrey as reed richards/mr fantastic & margot robbie as sue storm/the invisible woman.
Thad be wild lol
That would be insane🔥
Agreed! Disney wasted John Krasinski. He was a great Reed Richards. Pedro is a great actor, but he doesn't seem like he fits that roll. I've known the character and read the comics since I was a kid. And for them to change him like that, after years of finally getting a chance at a decent live action movie, is kinda disappointing.
