I would have loved to have seen that play! Arsenic and Old lace with Jonathan Frid would be amazing!! I love his voice, and loved the way he described himself, while playing Barnabas, as a scared monster! He was quite the comedien, wasn't he? I'm so glad you have shared this video! God bless! ~Janet in Canada
Thank you. I hope you have all enjoyed the award-winning documentary about Jonathan's life and career DARK SHADOWS AND BEYOND - THE JONATHAN FRID STORY.
I've seen that great documentary twice already & it holds a proud place in my DVD library & I plan to buy the Blu-Ray next month. The ending of it though is very sad though. Thanks for the great memories Mr. Frid, may you (RIP). It's also on TUBITV & PLUTOTV for an indefinite period of time I guess. The era of the great TV/Film actors & actresses are sadly gone now but their legacy on DVD & Film is forever. Dark Shadows was a unique period of TV history that brought together a fabulous group of thespians(sadly most of which have now passed on), under the direction of the late Dan Curtis, truly one of the greatest director/producer of the genre of the macabre/horror. A memorable period of time indeed. God what great TV memories, yet very sad for me.
Was nice to hear the nervousness or fear he had for the vampire role. That would explain a lot of how so much underlying emotion was displayed on DS by him. Trippy to hear Larry King hanging out with him here.
somehow i got the idea Barnabas was dead .. then around the 25th anniversary pf Dark Shadows , i got the collection . Also bought the entire VHS collection when Vidio Droid guy sold them for 99 centd each , to me . I Loved that vid guy .
I would not say that Jonathan Frid was a character actor even though he could have been. Jonathan had the acting talent to play any number of roles. But he was a leading man on Dark Shadows. It was not that when people saw him on the street out of character that they could not place him as Larry suggested. Rather, they knew him instantly as Barnabas Collins. Jonathan made Barnabas come alive with his unique portrayal of a vampire as both tragic heroic and dangerous simultaneously. Jonathan being so well known as Barnabas very likely hurt his acting career after Dark Shadows.
Frid was Special. Real Talent.
Oh that Voice!! As smooth and mellifluous as ever!! If ever there was an opposite to Larry King's gravelly voice, it's Jonathan's!!
He was such an intelligent and beautiful man ❤
Sweet, relaxed, and happy! Lovely interview!😊❤️
Great interview. Love his voice Thank You for sharing.
What a funny, brilliant man! I do love his voice! He certainly was handsome. After all he was Barnabas!👍👏👏👏👏👏♥️
As a 5th grader, I LOVED Dark Shadows…couldn’t miss an episode. Frid was The Man. All love and respect. R.I.P. Mr. Frid. ❤️
Just an unbelievable talent; and he probably doesn't even realize how many fans that he accumulated 😊ty, Jonathan eternally ❤

Why no film ?..
I would imagine that this interview was on Larry's radio program.
That can't be Jonathan Frid how can his face change that much. I mean from 1971 to 81. No.
