A very interesting discussion, in which a number of excellent points were raised. I confess that I've always been a student of history, and hence was attracted to this video by virtue of the two historians participating. Nonetheless, I left with the realization that some of the most impressive contributions were those of Archbishop Gudziak. As an atheist I've always been a bit sensitive to religious leaders virtually claiming ownership rights over moral insights. However, I'll let that pass here, as the moral insights were ones I can fully agree with. The contrast with the Russian Orthodox Church and Patriarch Kirill are like night and day.

Moscow Patriarchate was re-established by Stalin in September, 1943, and supervised by Russian secret service ever since. It's even hard to call the Russian Orthodox Church a religious institution

How to stop the genocide? Get to work. Start sustaining yourself. Eliminate whatever government if it does not help sustain yourself. Workout the government system that helps. Keep discussing your history, if it helps you to be self-sustainable, like all decent people and nations.

Being a Pole I feel strong compassion towards Ukrainians in view of their current tragedy. On the other hand, I find some of the features of this particular discussion rather annoying, almost unbelievable. First the reference to Lemkin as just a citizen of Lvov, while all the biographies of this lawyer that I came across describe him as a Polish (or should I probably write Polish-American scholar) . This omission would seem pretty meaningless if similar intentional omissions regarding the Ukrainian nation and committed on the side of the orthodox church were not criticised in this very discussion. There is, however, something much more important here. In the discussion three historical examples of genocide were mentionned: holodomor, holocaust and ethnic cleansing in former Yugoslavia. For me to hear this from experts on Ukrainian history is a case of another shocking omission. I mean the Volhynia massacre (rzeź wołyńska, wołyńskie ludobójstwo). And this brings us to the question on why such tragedies keep repeating in history. And part of the answer is pretty obvious. When perpetrators of extremly barbaric crimes are honored as national heroes, such "heroic" acts are likely to be attempted again. Of course I mean here the cult of Stepan Bandera and his cronies. Should mass murders of Polish women and children, carried out with obscene cruelty be not enough for someone, similar murders were comitted by Bandera's organization on Jews and Russians. No wonder Russians executed Bandera and keep to him the same "sentiment" that is commonly felt in Poland. I heard that the main stadium in Kiev bears Bandera's name (sorry, I got corrected on this, it is the stadium in L'viv, not Kiev, which by the way is even more provocative as L'viv unlike Kiev was once a part of Polish kingdom and used to be an important centre of Polish culture), that there is a cycling race held under Bandera's name , the name is also commemorated in street names. I find it a real shame. Particularly that until now the Ukrainians refute written testimonials of witnesses of the massacre but refuse Polish archeologists the right to exhume and study the remains of the victims of those crimes. I think a serious historical discussion should not omit such painful subjects. Furthermore the Banderists' crimes and the attitude of contemporary Ukrainians to this subject provide perhaps some explanation, though not a valid excuse for the incredible support Russian aggression has garnered among many Russian citizens.

You've got the point. Thank you!!!! I'd add the massacre of Cesky Malin. Another Bandera group atrocity. Next, the 2014 massacre in Odesa. Bandera is a Ukrainian hero! Azov army are murderers. They have always been.

The main stadium in Kyiv bears Bandera's name? Where did you hear this? The main stadium is called NSC Olympiyski and the old Dynamo stadium is named after Valeriy Lobanovskyi a legendary player and manager of Dynamo Kyiv.
