I am glad to see you are prepared for that type of situation.
Have to be prepared in the swamps. Many miles deep and zero cell service. A winch comes in handy here
I've never seen a portable winch like that - it's incredible. I've been binge-watching your videos while looking at Gladiators and hope to purchase one soon. Thank you for all of your videos.
@ericg9092 glad you are enjoying the videos! At the end of one's video I have another video I link in the corner on how I set up that winch.
@@Jason-Samko How do you set up the winch to pull your Jeep from the front?
@@Mike___Kilo I dont. I seldom ever want to keep going forward. Forward means I have to then go back thru this usually. 9 times out of 10 if im stuck I want to back out and find a different trail. So going back out the way I came is best for me.
Wow, that winch is a lifesaver! Good way to showcase the power of it, thankfully you had it handy. I'll definitely be looking into it.
It was a life saver on this seemingly normal everyday drive. Often it's the little stuff that locks you up. Today it was a spot where a military vehicle got hung up and water that hid the 30 inch deep trenches.
Dude, love the real time crisis management application you displayed! Great example of why it’s good to have a winch.
Thanks. If you drive off road your gonna get stuck sometimes. And often it will be like this, something you never expect to get stuck in.
@@Jason-Samko I’m currently researching turning my Tacoma into an overlanding rig. I have zero interest in doing anything extreme as I don’t want to beat the truck up. But here in NC we have a lot of easy to moderate gravel/dirt/OHV/fire roads with free dispersed camping - that’s what my target is. I love the portable winch you have & am putting it on my list as a future investment. Always appreciate your videos & the effort you bring to give us relevant & real world content.
@carolinawoods-n-water4392 you would live a winch like this. And the whole set up cost less than most bumpers alone that are winch ready does. Takes about 2 minutes to set up. And if you encounter another truck stuck you can let them use the winch (often a truck can't pull another truck out of mud do to suction. A winch is the o ly way out as it's slow and continously pulling allowing the suction to break.
That would have me running to the car wash afterwards 😂😂 love it!
😂 mine is always covered in mud
X-BULL will always protect you😇
Love my xbull winch
There's stuck, and then there's ARMY stuck. 😅
😂😂 those mil vehicles make some serious ruts
Priceless when you need it!
Agree 100
Nice! Had myself stuck and at an angle on the verge of flipping. I hooked up the winch from the front to one tree, to the next tree and to my rear left bumper. Was able to get out of that situation. Was fun though.
Glad you got out ok
That's not mud, that's quicksand!! Good shit bro! But DAMN that happened quick. Nice winch work
Yep just one of the random 200 holes I went thru that day. But this one a military vehicle must of got stuck in too as it was really bad.
Jason, If the Gladiator Jedi Master can get stuck, then it could happen to anyone. Well, probably not me since I don't venture into that sort of terrain.
😂😂
@@Jason-Samko Jason took the center line. Boss.
@@Mike___Kilo this is on a military base. So you never know where the ruts are. and the ruts are made by tactical vehicles with 60 inch tires. Its always an adventure.
Excellent recovery!!!
Thank you
Excellent!
Thank you
Gotta drive faster than that! 😂
Good thing you bought that winch! That would’ve been a bunch of wet icky fun with a shovel and some branches.
😂 it was on the frame all the way from front to back. And in the quick sand crap. Not sure I could of got out on my own without the winch inside of 5 hours😂
@@Jason-Samko I hit a few of those holes in the old company car (ford escape) and literally bounced the thing in and out. I’m not sure how fast I was going but I called the chiropractor afterwards 😂. That winch is a life saver for sure.
@@PJOutside 😂😂
I’m glad you’re safe but… finally😂❤
@valdius85 was bound to happen. Funny that it was a very shallow hole except for 2 huge ruts I landed in made by military vehicles. I have seen this hole dry a week later and those ruts were almost to my waist😂😂
Thank you I’m not going to either too much work. You can actually use the rear winch to go forward anyways In an emergency
Yep you can. It requires a bit of rigging gear and 3 snatch blocks to use 2:1 to over power 1:1 pull. But it is doable. Honestly if I didn't have a tree to hook to from the rear I'd cut a thick branch and dig a trench to put it into to anchor too.
Good demonstration of the portable winch. You had trees and maybe you always have trees where you are but in case you will not have trees or other anchor point, you might want to invest in Pull-Pal or similar winch anchor.
Great product and great suggestion. For those that dont have a dirt anchor devise you can also bury your spare tire (if you can get the spare out from under the truck). If you can not get the spare find or cut a thigh thick log4 feet long and dig a trench to drop it into and hook up to the middle of it. Its not fun to do either but both work great.
Great video. Sweet wich set up. I will definitely have one of these by the weekend.
Sure is nice to have
I’ve been stuck. Never that stuck lol
😂😂 some of these holes have hidden surprises.
I hope you’re well. Thanks for the video. Are you just running the receiver in the rear for the winch or did you mount a front receiver because I’m thinking of doing the same and I noticed with the Rubicon it’s a nightmare trying to run a receiver hitch with the skid plate thank you
I only use it in the rear. 99% of the time going back out the way I came is the best option. I'm not gonna put a receiver on the front personally.
On my 2-door Wrangler my solution for front receiver hitch was to get an aftermarket bumper with a winch plate. I also got a front receiver hitch kit for a GM Van. The kit is rated for 10,000 pounds pull. Cut the hitch and side cross members out of the kit and got it welded to the winch plate of the bumper. I also got the plate welded to the bumper’s frame. That bumper is an ARB bumper and installed it on the Jeep’s frame as required. It reduced the front approach angle a bit but the front receiver protrudes toward the front of the vehicle only about 2 inches on the top of the bumper where the plate is located.
@@is6566 that right there is the way to do it!
Time to go lease one
It's is a good time to for sure
That wasn't stuck, that was buried!
She was framed out good.
Can you please tell me what size winch you put on your receiver hitch mount
Xbull 13500 synthetic line winch. Did a full review of that winch and how I built the set up if you search winch on my channel
What your saying is you didn't walk the hole first? LOL
I do walk the big ones. But I have to be careful, big holes here have gators in them and water moccasins all around them.
Was that a set up to get your wife to approve the 37’s? Only thing that would have been better is if you pulled it out with the 4Runner
😂😂😂 if I had 37s I'd just get stuck in a hole that required 40s.
@@Jason-Samko that’s the rabbit hole you end up going down
@jamieboling7791 exactly! And one I've been down in the past. A fun rabbit hole to be in too. But an expensive one😂
Fort Stewart?
yes
@@Jason-Samko Thought so. It looked familiar. ;-)
