I love the fact that the suit's ability to absorb Thor's lightning bolt is an upgrade made as a direct result of Tony's encounter with Whiplash from IM2. It's little callbacks like that, that make these movies so good.
I don't think it's intentional, looking at how Tony reacts to it - he seems SURPRISED that he absorbed some of the attack. Plus, he used this suit against Whiplash and it didn't absorb the electricity there. That said, this IS still a subtle connection to other events - Tony had to create an entirely new element that seemingly mimics the Tesseract, an Infinity Stone, for his new arc reactor, the previous versions of which were derived from his father's studying of the same Infinity Stone. The same Tesseract that was apparently once held in possession of Odin, at least according to the Red Skull. And we later learn that Infinity Stones can directly empower individuals, most notably Captain Marvel and Wanda. Short version - Thor's lightning, and potentially entire godhood, is derived from Odin or a previous ancestor empowering themselves with the Tesseract. Tony's suit, or more specifically his arc reactor, can absorb Thor's lightning because it's derived from the same source.
@@Kilaknux Except that wasn't the same 'suitcase suit' Tony used against Whiplash. I think his surprise wasn't in the fact that it absorbed the attack, but in *how much* it boosted the energy reserves. Right after he let Thor have *both* palm Repulsors *and* the chest Unibeam simultaneously.

Pretty much sums it up. Thor thinks he is dealing with an “ordinary” human, but Tony really has no clue as to the power of Thor. He is likely betting that since they were able to take down Loki relatively easily, that Thor may be just as easy. Also, both are as arrogant as they come.

@@arekpetrosian4965 Yeah, but I'm not arguing about the outcome of Iron Man vs Thor + Thorforce. Thor with Sky Father powers is pretty much unstoppable by anything less than a Celestial or World Breaker Hulk. I'm arguing that the Mark 85 nanotech Iron Man armour is more than a match for Thor _before_ he gets the Thorforce in Ragnarok.
400% power, rip physics and electronics.
Mojammel Alam Khan The system must must be glitched 😂😂
That shit has been pissing me off since the first time I heard it.
Tell me about it !
What if Thor does that to my phone battery, Power at 2782849040209282882 capacity.
Oh wow I didn't know Marvel was as real as real life.
3:06 The first ever meet of the big three in same screen together, Seriously the best trio in the all over cinema
1:15 imagine what the power stone can charge that thing up to.
“Power 100,000% capacity”
“How bout that?”
Hahaha Tony proceeds to inadvertently blow up the whole planet
I think he overloaded in the recent movie.
Khira aaaaaahhh...
@@DO9000J you're not wrong

*IN CASE YOU CANT READ A TIMESTAMP, I WROTE THIS COMMENT TWO YEARS BEFORE ENDGAME CAME OUT. So if you don’t read my edit or the 100 comments saying “Endgame bruh” You’re not as smart or clever as you think.*

so this scene established that Thor's lightning charges Tony's suit to 400%. awesome.
then they NEVER USE IT AGAIN. DAFUQ?!
(June 2020 Edit) I haven't looked at this comment in 3 years. I'm well aware they use it 3 times after;
AoU- Thor charges Vision
Endgame- Thor prevents Tony's cardiac arrest in the lobby
Endgame- final fight "ALRIGHT THOR HIT ME!"
Thanks for the likes
Rex Armstrong probably not a good idea to overcharge a battery, let alone the reactor on his chest
John Browser He fixed himself in Iron man 3, reactor in chest is gone
Power 5099 No he didn't. His chest implant is gone. A reactor still powers the suit.
Rex Armstrong and never used the thor buster
Huh.
Good point, not that i think about it.
In the MCU, the first headbutt is always a bad idea.
Yeah DCEU did the exact same thing lol
@@swordchannelfires wonder woman vs superman😂 in justice league
@@officialfzcphrxx5895 exactly 🤣
Thanos headbutts iron man 1st
And DC took that, copied it, rewired it into Justice League, Wonder Woman headbutts Supes, he headbutts harder.
This scene is so much realistic than all other avengers movie scenes
