adripires84 Well out of the three original Eons... Flareon has the highest attack, but it's speed and Def aren't as strong. So it's not always a top choice
DavidsonLoops examples: Starmie(No Psychic Or Better Water Type Moves), Sandslash(No Earthquake) Alakazam(No Psychic At all), Rhydon(No Rock Slide), Dragonite(No Better Moves Than The Ones It has If Rental), Venusaur(Needs A Better Grass Type Move Than Just Solarbeam), Charizard(Just Overall, It's Moveset sucks), Blastoise(Just Needs An Ice Type Move), Machamp and Primeape(No Freaking Submission), and Finally Dugtrio(No Earthquake, Just a 2 Turn Dig)
@Random I'd say even make them their own Cups. A Kanto/Johto league, Hoenn League etc. So the game can actually showcase the pokemon for each generation. Then have a Master League/ Elite Four castle after completing the cups
I want a another stadium game but in our modern time so every Pokémon is here and a tonne of mini games too I didn’t mind the rental Pokémon’s and it was cool using your own GB Pokémon My childhood games I still love it
32:00 Oh, the beauty of using the low-level Pikachu (31) as a pivot to get a more important team member, Snorlax, in for free. And I love when Ted said "Gone! It didn't stand a chance!"
I never seen mewtwo use thunder on this game he does it so epic =D & my favorite thing about this game is when the announcer said "WHAAAAA TAKEN DOWN WITH ONE HIT!!!!!!!!" all dramatic lol. i miss this game :/
stumbled upon this video and it brang back SOO many memories especially the intro. this game use to be the bomb and me and my brothers would play it all the time. ugh i feel like crying what good memories
Mewtwo has the coolest animations in this game. It beats the modern version's animations imo. The way it recovers and uses thunder is so fucking badass.
Funny thing in the second battle when they used Force Energy, it was broken in the Gameboy game were it cut your ability to get critical by 1/4 and in Stadium it was fix to increase your chance by 4 times.
Yeah, I strongly recommend Mewtwo during this kind of Prime Cup. I have one with perfect IVs and the same exact moves as the final boss one in the game, including a Mew, which helped a lot.
That's good to know. So Battle 8 is the only one that really matters. So it seems that you don't need Pikachu in your party and you can use Continues in every battle except for the last one.
Mewtwo was freaking OP in gen 1 ;p back when spDef and spAtt were one stat lol just have a def raising move and recover/rest on it and nothing could kill it
Pretty much. Rare Candies are not too helpful though since you lose the Stat Experience (RBY and GSC's version of EVs) you would gain from training. The vitamins only give you less than half of the max stat experience you can get.
I find it hilarious how in Slowbro's faint animation, it just looks back at its tail like "Hey bro am I down?" and when the shell closes its eyes Slowbro falls over :3
Both of those are the same because in both instances, you still use Pikachu in the last battle. This is why "use Pikachu in the last battle" is the method.
curious question: you're able to trade pokemon between gameboy packs in this game, right? if you trade a kadabra or haunter for example, will they still evolve?
(continued) A Rhydon has (HP, Atk, Def, Special, and Spd) 105, 130, 120, 45, and 40 as its base stats. So, when you defeat a Rhydon, said base stats will be converted to stat exp. of the same number, and distributed to the correct stats. You can easily look up the base stats of any Pokemon in many sites, such as Bulbapedia, Smogon, etc.
It would as a pokemons crit ratio in stadium and the originals were based off the speed stat, not to mention focus energy actually works in this game. If you think this was bad try facing a jolteon with focus energy in stadium. crits all the time with multi-hit moves.
@respectthekick07 Actually, when you defeat a Pokemon, ALL of its base stats are given to you IIRC. The reason for that is because the max amount of stat experience for each stat is 65535, and you can get 65535 for EVERY stat (when you eventually max them out). So, if you face a Mew, it gives 100 stat exp. in every stat since all of its base stats are 100. (con't)
This would've been infinitely more interesting if you didn't have Mewtwo to bail you out of every battle. In the fight against Judo, for example, your decision to put up Light Screen first would've proved fatal in 98% of circumstances. Every veteran Stadium player knows Focus Energy is the juice Judo uses to roll, and lingering "set-up" moves will get smashed to pieces by the repeated critical hits. But hey, you have Mewtwo, so fuck strategy.
Andrew A I play Prime Cup Master Ball Round 2, and I don't consider myself a veteran Stadium player. Veteran Pokemon player, maybe, so I have a good understanding of battle mechanics, but I don't by any means have every NPC's mechanics memorized. Get off your high horse.
When you said that you fully trained your Pokémon in terms of stats, does that mean you used the Missingno glitch to make tons of Vitamins and/or Rare Candies, or were they trained the old fashioned way?
Misread your comment. Probably because Ice Beam has a lower base power than Blizzard. You should stick with Blizzard if your Mewtwo is staying in Gen I, due to its 90% accuracy.
Is it possible to beat this cup with rental Pokemon? If so, which ones should I pick? I've used rentals all the way through because I've never owned R/B/Y.
Mewtwo = "Fuck you I win." Even worse, its a Psychic-Type and most Psychic Pokemon like Alakazam (for example) in Gen I were such a pain to defeat and most of the Bug-Type moves like Pin Missile and Leech Life were weak. Ghost-Type moves (which is supposed to be super effective against Psychic Types) had no effect against them!! Sadly the Ghost-Types were the Gastly line and to make matters worse, they are part Poison-Types so... Yeah...
Flareon was sure giving you a run for your money dude DX. Blame it on the Focus Energy move. Funny in the R/B/Y games it DECREASES your chance of landing a critical due to a glitch. Those games especially R/B had so many glitches that it ain't even funny. And the Pokemon sprites in R/B were laughably horrible.
Psychic types (while being the strongest typing) did have weaknesses with their frail defenses. Alakazam is completely walled by Snorlax and with a single Body Slam or Hyper Beam Alakzam is instantly KO'd. With powerful physical moves combined with high physical attackers some Psychic types can go down easily. The only ones who aren't are Mew, Mewtwo, Slowbro, Exeggutor and Hypno. Yeah Hypno is pretty bulky. Plus with Paralysis on Psychic types it does help to lower their defense with Screech (in Gen 1 stats lower/increase by 2 stages I believe, unless that's just an Amnesia thing?) and go for Jolteon's Pin Missile. That being said Psychic types are the strongest types of Gen 1 and were broken. The only Ghost type move that doesn't work on them is Lick, Night Shade still works for some reason.
I just beat this with Mewtwo [Psychic/Recover/Thunder/Fire Blast] + Alakazam [Psychic / Thunder-wave / Recover / Seismic Toss] with Lvl 30 Pikachu for Surf *dances* then I traded it to my other game (Poke Red) to evolve it ^.^
I want to ask one thing about Stat Experience: does it matter which Pokemon you fight to max out your stats? Like, if my Mewtwo fought nothing but Rhydons, Mewtwo could still get max stats for say, Sp.Atk and Speed, even though Rhydon's base stats lack those two traits, factoring IVs and all for Mewtwo being perfect?
A friend of mine can pass all the stadium in the Pokemon Stadium 2 basically only with a Porygon2 LOL. Is a genius. He wins over my 6 pokemon only with it. Sorry for my bad english :P
Still, you can get stat experience at level 100, then placing the Pokemon in the PC to have its stats rechecked. All in all no big issue, if it fights, it'll eventually reach the max.
When you catch a Pokémon, you have the option of giving it a nickname. You can also go to the Name Rater in Lavender Town to change their names, provided that they are your Pokémon, and not traded ones.
Oh ok because I'm pretty sure mewtwo's max special stat is 406, which is the only stat that my mewtwo has that has the full 15 DVS. I am disappointed in my speed at 328 = 0 DVS. And I love blizzard and the 90 percent accuracy! The problem for me though, I switch my mewtwo between gen 1 and gen 2, which means blizzard accuracy is 70 percent in stadium 2. So I may clone my mewtwo. I do love the amnesia set in gen 1 absolutely made my mewtwo invincible. (perhaps slow speed is good for lower CH rate
That wasn't a shiny Ditto. In Pokémon Stadium, if you give a Pokémon a certain nickname, it will have alternate colors. This is done in Pokémon Stadium 2 as well, but only with the Kanto Pokémon.
No, it simply needs to be on your team in the final battle. You don't need to use it on the first seven. The only other rule is none of the six Pokemon you use can be a rental, you have to use Pokemon from your game.
you should boost mewtwo's status to the max. special def, special att, defence, attack and speed for him to be like the boss in pokemon stadium, the final battle mewtwo
You have to complete Round 1 of the Gym Leader Castle, All of the Stadium Cups and eventually complete Vs. Mewtwo (once you complete those 2 criterias).
One thing I’ll never forget is the voice over for the commentator, he was perfect.
PERFECT
I love it when the announcer says "It's finally taken down". It's like he's admitting that your Pokémon is tough as hell.
Or "It finally goes down after a good fight!"
It's great to see Flareon owning unsuspecting players who probably think it sucks.
adripires84 Pre-Diamond Flareon still sucks.
adripires84 Well out of the three original Eons...
Flareon has the highest attack, but it's speed and Def aren't as strong. So it's not always a top choice
Actually it does suck. Best things in this game are Mewtwo, thunder wave and wrap.
The worst thing was that with the Rental pokemon, the highest evolved pokémon would always have the worst moves.
💯💯💯💯💯 FACTS all FACTS
True
It made for interesting multiplayer battles since it balances everything out
"The intense battle continues!"
Two Snorlaxes lay motionless
🤣🤣
Moltrash is such a mean nickname for Moltres 😂😂
why? it actually was trash in gen 1 ;p it learned terrible moves and was easily disposed of.
I froze that Moltres whit 1 ice beam
Nickname is Blaze Heatnix?
They need to make a Pokemon stadium 3 not like battle revolution
Battle revolution was fine but they really lacked on the rental pokemons and the mini games, if you didnt had the games you were fucked
right I feel ya I just wish we could go back to the pokemon stadium days
osdiel perez Please speak English child.
@Random I'd say even make them their own Cups. A Kanto/Johto league, Hoenn League etc. So the game can actually showcase the pokemon for each generation. Then have a Master League/ Elite Four castle after completing the cups

32:00 Oh, the beauty of using the low-level Pikachu (31) as a pivot to get a more important team member, Snorlax, in for free. And I love when Ted said "Gone! It didn't stand a chance!"
Mewtwo is carrying that team.
I never seen mewtwo use thunder on this game he does it so epic =D & my favorite thing about this game is when the announcer said "WHAAAAA TAKEN DOWN WITH ONE HIT!!!!!!!!" all dramatic lol. i miss this game :/
32:31
"Gone, it didn't stand a chance!" That's rare saying!
This video could also be called, "Mewtwo tears up the Prime Cup."
stumbled upon this video and it brang back SOO many memories especially the intro. this game use to be the bomb and me and my brothers would play it all the time. ugh i feel like crying what good memories
>Fighting a half health Flareon and your move is up next
>Uses REST instead of Earthquake
>Lets Flareon get two free crits because of sleep status
James Nease Eh, sometimes you gamble and you win, not this time sadly =/
Mewtwo has the coolest animations in this game.
It beats the modern version's animations imo.
The way it recovers and uses thunder is so fucking badass.
It now all makes sense for surge's pikachu and Raichu to have surf lol
Lmao i was wonderin why u sent out pikachu when he can get pwned easily. Then i remembered thats the way to teach surf
Funny thing in the second battle when they used Force Energy, it was broken in the Gameboy game were it cut your ability to get critical by 1/4 and in Stadium it was fix to increase your chance by 4 times.
That Blackbelt's Flareon was _savage._ (Yes, I know he's called Judoboy here, but I refer to him as Blackbelt)
28:11 And now, a trio of “word go”s.
Yeah, I strongly recommend Mewtwo during this kind of Prime Cup. I have one with perfect IVs and the same exact moves as the final boss one in the game, including a Mew, which helped a lot.
Earthquake is an electric Pokémon killer
That's good to know. So Battle 8 is the only one that really matters. So it seems that you don't need Pikachu in your party and you can use Continues in every battle except for the last one.
I would actually buy this again for the Nintendo Switch!
This game was so addictive. Wish I still had it. The graphics and gameplay were great for the time.
Sometimes these pokemon models look better than the new ones lol
Mewtwo is powerful, classic Pokémon rules!
I miss playing this game
Big Guy dude. I was thinking the same thing
Mewtwo was freaking OP in gen 1 ;p back when spDef and spAtt were one stat lol just have a def raising move and recover/rest on it and nothing could kill it
Miss Lara You might be my type
Miss Lara mewto the fuckin 🐐
Mewtwo was OP as hell
I remember when my mom complete all this game using only rentals 💛 I love her
loved how Mewtwo threw out attacks like Hadoukens lol
Oh!! It's frozen solid!!
Kid me: holy fukin shyt it got real
Pretty much. Rare Candies are not too helpful though since you lose the Stat Experience (RBY and GSC's version of EVs) you would gain from training. The vitamins only give you less than half of the max stat experience you can get.
I find it hilarious how in Slowbro's faint animation, it just looks back at its tail like "Hey bro am I down?" and when the shell closes its eyes Slowbro falls over :3
I never quite understood why the developers would have Nindoqueen shake her "rack" when she is first thrown out on the field.
Theres two ways to get surfing pikachu i think.. one is to use pikachu at the last battle or use pikachu in all 8 battles
Both of those are the same because in both instances, you still use Pikachu in the last battle. This is why "use Pikachu in the last battle" is the method.
Hm I used to love this game. The opening title scene is a lot better with Mewtwo, Pikachu, Charizard, Venusaur and Blastoise in it.
True. Overall, it's best to max out vitamins at the start, then train from there, especially for the cups require levels lower than 100.
curious question:
you're able to trade pokemon between gameboy packs in this game, right?
if you trade a kadabra or haunter for example, will they still evolve?
***** Sorry for the late response, but yeah. They'll both evolve.
Blooper Tanooki
Thats good because I dont really have 2 games :D only
Pokemon blue and stadium
@@-darktrack-8095 yo.cant.trade.between stadium And GB gamepak...only nove them back And.forth :(
AND THERE GOES THE BATTLE!!!!
37:18 "This is a sophisticated PC."
How time has changed...
Flareon was murdering you.
Even the crappiest Pokemon can pose a threat if you play them right. Unless of course its against Mewtwo, then forget it.
EdmacZ No, it just got lucky with crits
When 3D Pokemon looks good.
(continued)

Maybe we're not all "veteran Stadium" players, so we don't have every NPC's habits memorized.
sivret20 Yes, thanks, Captain Obvious. The video uploader clearly is, though.
Andrew A How do you know?
He's playing the Prime Cup Master Ball Round 2. That's how I know.
Andrew A I play Prime Cup Master Ball Round 2, and I don't consider myself a veteran Stadium player. Veteran Pokemon player, maybe, so I have a good understanding of battle mechanics, but I don't by any means have every NPC's mechanics memorized. Get off your high horse.
crit rate in gen 1 is based on base speed, a lvl100 mewtwo with 358 speed and a lvl 5 with 15 or so will have the exact same crit rate (25% something)
I am so tempted to play this game and Stadium 2 again. I really miss them both.
Mewtwo what a time it was back then. Classic and epic
Nope. I'm recording this off a Nintendo 64.
Mewtwo looked so intense in these games
Dang I love that battle music;)
Good hit 23:04
I love watching this vid too much
He was one of the best.
Dude that Flareon was on point. I wish my Pokemon got crits like that.
Yeah, things like the Pika Cup, the Little Cup and the lower levels of the Battle Tower in Crystal require very careful training.
Music...too...epic!!!
No. Just an alternate colored one due to the nickname scheme for Pokémon in this game.
Mewtew is on a whole different level
This video make me cry that it's just nostalgic
It's so cute when mew use psychic
When you said that you fully trained your Pokémon in terms of stats, does that mean you used the Missingno glitch to make tons of Vitamins and/or Rare Candies, or were they trained the old fashioned way?
Childhood. to the good old days
@TheMinh234
I use a DVD recorder to record the games from a Nintendo 64. I don't think an emulator can emulate the game this perfectly anyway.
I agree totally.
Thanks!
That flareon would have made me mad with all those critical hits
I like how the announcer says "It's a one hit wonder" when you knock out a pokemon in one hit.
Misread your comment. Probably because Ice Beam has a lower base power than Blizzard. You should stick with Blizzard if your Mewtwo is staying in Gen I, due to its 90% accuracy.
i left my computer
for 3 minutes
and now this is playing
i wAS WATCHING MEMES HOW DID I GET HERE
@MarioLuigiYoshi1000
I'm planning to record some wi-fi matches with him. Heck, probably some replays of offline matches we had.
Semifinal music!!!!👌👌
31:30 hopefully you got the freeze to avoid Sleep Powder :P
Is it possible to beat this cup with rental Pokemon? If so, which ones should I pick? I've used rentals all the way through because I've never owned R/B/Y.
he's most epic after a 1 hit ko move, especially in ps2
Mewtwo = "Fuck you I win."

...And I still can't beat Blaine in R1 after over a decade.
Use Mewtwo
I just beat this with Mewtwo [Psychic/Recover/Thunder/Fire Blast] + Alakazam [Psychic / Thunder-wave / Recover / Seismic Toss] with Lvl 30 Pikachu for Surf *dances* then I traded it to my other game (Poke Red) to evolve it ^.^

Pretty good. I used a lv 100 mew for backup just in case
This feels like an ad for Mewtwo.
A friend of mine can pass all the stadium in the Pokemon Stadium 2 basically only with a Porygon2 LOL. Is a genius. He wins over my 6 pokemon only with it.
Sorry for my bad english :P
I like the Lapras named Laplace.
The opponents' Pokemon in Prime Cup will always be Level 100.
Still, you can get stat experience at level 100, then placing the Pokemon in the PC to have its stats rechecked. All in all no big issue, if it fights, it'll eventually reach the max.
From what I recall, you can't use continues to unlock Surfing Pikachu.
ShadowMario3 Mewtwo does Kamehameha
I'm fairly sure that the Flareon in the second match was cheating... how many crits did he get as well?
Shadman was definitely meant to be shadow mario but man is it unfortunate
When you catch a Pokémon, you have the option of giving it a nickname. You can also go to the Name Rater in Lavender Town to change their names, provided that they are your Pokémon, and not traded ones.
@MarioLuigiYoshi1000
Yeah, for Prime Cup, Mewtwo (and Psychics in general) really dominates the Prime Cup and Gym Leader Castle.
Oh ok because I'm pretty sure mewtwo's max special stat is 406, which is the only stat that my mewtwo has that has the full 15 DVS. I am disappointed in my speed at 328 = 0 DVS. all that work just to teach pikachu how to surf lmao
That wasn't a shiny Ditto. In Pokémon Stadium, if you give a Pokémon a certain nickname, it will have alternate colors. This is done in Pokémon Stadium 2 as well, but only with the Kanto Pokémon.
I also had different jothopokemon as well so its not right that only kanto pokemon get a different colorsheme
So how can battle a Mewtwo how can I battle
Poor Pikachu. Only at level 31 and had to fight a level 100 Mew.
32:07 Pikachu with his voice
The level disadvantage beaten him
Thank goodness I have a Controller Pak with blue version.
Missingno + 6th Slot + Rare Candies + All Stat boosters = Supah Powerful Pokemonz.
I Really Got To Get Pokémon Stadium My Favorite Childhoods:)!!!! 30:08
I Like Your Pokemon Stadium It's Really Awesome:)
Not surprising when Porygon line is a must when it comes to Sp.Atk. Besides Alakazam he has the highest Special attack among all normal-types.
The only iron rule is pikachu always on your team in every battle
No, it simply needs to be on your team in the final battle. You don't need to use it on the first seven. The only other rule is none of the six Pokemon you use can be a rental, you have to use Pokemon from your game.
you should boost mewtwo's status to the max. special def, special att, defence, attack and speed for him to be like the boss in pokemon stadium, the final battle mewtwo
I got past r1 mewtwo by using ohko moves
Woah this Pokémon stadium Start screen is different
How did u get it? (That Pikachu, Mewtwo and final starter evolutions background)
You have to complete Round 1 of the Gym Leader Castle, All of the Stadium Cups and eventually complete Vs. Mewtwo (once you complete those 2 criterias).
Your Twostor has the exact same moveset as my Mewtwo in Red.
MEWTWO..........." HADOKEN!!!!!!!!!!!!"
