This is just street poker with GTO ideas. Check on the flop could be Linus having a read that villain stabs too much or with too weak of a range on the flop, so he can check raise aggro. The fact that villain checked back with JJ it's most likely always a stab probably gives more credit to the idea that when villain stabs he's more likely to be bluffing than value betting. The turn bet is a mistake but not because of balance or range construction ideas, but because villain won't fold enough given how wet the board is (any flush draw, any ten, any ace, two pairs, top pairs, etc can call in position against big sizings.) so the best sizing is the small one where you target the hands that can't call under any circumstances while keeping yourself safe yourself with bluffs that can be bad on a suspicious runout (a club, 4-straight, river pairing face card) The river is where the street poker begins. It's a blank and villain has not shown any strenght so far, hence he should be very weak. That's why we cannot expect villain to put money in for us and that's why the solver bets big himself. Our checking range after bombing the turn should be comprised of hands that give up and a few very strong traps to not fold 100% range, so if you think about it against that kind of range you wouldn't even bet a hand like QJ or even KJ because AK wouldn't be on the checking range, so you would either face a fold or a check-jam. That's why the small bet doesn't make sense for the solver: You're just letting villain out for cheap when he should be put to the test against a massive bet. However, if Linus believes villain has a tendency to overbluff vs. block bets (then again, given the runout and action, villain has to be extremely careful with his value bets, which makes it more likely that he will overbluff.) then we can come to the conclusion that if we hold a hand that blocks the only combos that should be raising then we should be getting enough fold equity on our jam to justify doing it. Solvers play street poker, the reason why it's balanced it's because they know each other's strategy perfectly and the solution that comes out of it is just how much bulls**t they can get away with against the other player.
Editor deserves kudos for sure! When looking at the GTOW for 3 handed (but using a 6m sim), what sort of frequency changes would be happening since it's short handed but sim constructing ranges for 6m? T7s becomes more of a 3b instead of majority mix?

When a completely average player, realizing his own averageness and, frightened by this realization, begins to think about the future with a merchant’s mind and, adding up two and two to make four, makes a video titled When The Best In The World Punts Like A Fish.
Preferences of individuals are unimportant. What matters is what the individual brings to the world. If you bring to the world with expectations, what can the world expect? You will fulfill each other's expectations and consume tomorrow for today. If you have left where you were not first, will you not also leave this place where you are among the last? The title is set high to remind beginners to look up, so that, on the way up, they learn to see beyond the title. Whoever has acquired the title by bowing their head, both their head and the title are in vain.
If anything, this video just proved why GTO is and will always be king. If they don’t bluff enough as GTO demands, then they’ll be conceding the pot too often and get owned. If they overbluff more than GTO, then they’ll own themselves too often vs your value. GTO doesn’t need to do anything vs anyone, it’s a safe auto profit if you can master it somehow.
You just saw the best player in the world make a huge punt, and think GTO is king 😅 no one can play GTO man, no one ever will. Sure a GTO bot makes money vs humans, but no one will ever achieve bot level execution. And there is no need to, as exploitative play is simpler and makes more money
IF, and thats a big IF, you could play gto surely you would make money, I agree. But my friend, the true money comes from exploring your oponents tendencys. Never forget that you are playing humans and always considerate its complexity and indivituality. A move that its a money printer against a player may be a money eraser against another. There is no answer to the equation since the equation is always changing with heartbeat. My advice is: study a lot, but cultivate a poker malice within your heart and acknowledge its importance in your winrate, knowing that its the main factor. Remember, exploit = money. And exploits its not about always making fancy plays but its about adjusting the best you can to your vilain. For example folding AQ from the blind to a cutoff raise in a deeprun. You do this with a high frequency cause that vilain in particular hanst played a hand in 40 minutes and his VPIP is 7% while the table average is 20. Against the player sitting next to him, you might as well 3-bet, who knows?
Why Linus cant have KK,QQ,JJ? He has more stonger hands than Nikiforov + he has T which block both straights + he doesnt have any club which gives Nikiforov more flush draws that missed. We also dont know the dynamics between this two guys. Its easy to look from the side when you see the whole cards 🤣 On the other hand, Nikiforov was on top of his range. What if he had just K, or even KJ, whould you have balls to call againts this strong move on the river from Linus 🙂
All of what you said is refuted in the video. 2pair+ hands will rarely check flop, and even if they do they won't bet small on the river on a blank. Linus has an aggressive image, no one will ever raise/fold 2pair+ on the river vs him getting insane pot odds on a call
@@philippedemay6026 theory of the spot is important but you can see they are not using the same ranges on the river like in the gto world, llinus is overbluffing or using wrong blockers, maybe the gto punt is ev+ in practice, or a massive ev punt even worse than gto ev
That is something only linus has the answer to. He’s no fish, so he must be doing it for a reason. Maybe the guy has a an insane bet fold freq in that spot, maybe he only raises the nuts or nothing so him having a T makes it an ez bluff in Linus’ eyes, or something of the sort. Just because it’s a mistake in GTO doesn’t mean that Linus is making a mistake in practice, otherwise he wouldn’t have all the money lol. In isolation it does look like a mistake, but that’s a naive way to look at it and Saulo doesn’t seem to understand that.

I’m guessing nothing changes. It’s still the same BTN vs BB, same blind structures and everything. Thus, same ranges.
