Love your work. Great job teaching your craft. I’m very interested in learning flint napping. Do to illness my wrists have become quite weak. I wish you would do some programs teaching older people like me with disabilities how to easier flint Knapp. Keep up the great work. Sam C.
there are people who knap in different ways due to health issues one guy uses a piece of I beam on a table with 2 pieces of mudflap on it with a gap between the 2 pieces so your flakes can run out
Best description I've heard for knapping Brazilian agate... it's harder than woodpecker lips. I'm trying to work a trade right now, one of my knapped knives for some Brazilian agate. I don't FoG knap, so this should be an interesting and fun challenge. 😂
@@Bradmoore1979 cat knapping. I just had my buddy Rodger put to sleep. He had too many problems with his teeth and had stopped eating. Enjoy his company while it lasts. Life is too short, theirs is shorter.
You need stiffer ishi sticks for agate ,and I prefer indirect percussion on agate, a better anvil block with leather covering would serve you well . I love working agates myself so I hope this helps

Thanks Sam! They make jigs that require very little force but they only work on slabs.

Thank you! Craig Ratzat had lots of nice Brazilian Agate at Flint Ridge over the weekend.
Man that was something I seen how hard you were pushing though for sure it was gonna fold.
Excellent work.
Jimmy
Thanks! Me too 😂
What is that narrow abrasive tool you're using to bevel the edge?
Diamond file.
@@Bradmoore1979 Thank you! Is there any brand you recommend?
@@Derek_Watts I usually buy the small set from harbor freight.
Is the Agate heat treated would love to know.
It is heat treated.
Agate isn’t easy to Knapp, is that material heat treated? That cat is all over you!
It is heated. I know right!😂
It’s so crazy she’s not like that unless I’m chipping.

How did you make that hand pad? Looks like a must have to add to my tool box lol. Is it just 2 pieces of rubber glued to leather? It's perfect
I ordered it from flintknappingsupplies.com. Then I glued a piece of leather to the back.
