Terrorvision is a fantastic album. Everything comes together to create something that's more than the sum of its parts. Absolutely monstrous!
How to sound like Aborted drums-
Step one: Be Ken Bedene
Final Step: Perform drum parts
Sounds really clean and natural. Post-processing is expected to get a proper freq. + phase balance from all those mics. We all know that if the drums sounds great, the whole song\album sounds great (and vice versa)!
Really hard work, Kohle! Always a pleasure to watch you record\mix, though just as a video presentation.

It's refreshing to hear such a natural sound in extreme drumming, and with such a minimal post-processing. In the end, to me It always comes down to the quality of the source (engineering, performance)

Your approach to Including natural in extreme metal is amazing. I have been obsessed with miking, recording, and mixing all natural drums into extreme metal mix without the use of any samples or triggering.

And yet, here the drums sound natural even though he triggered the kicks and layered in snare ambience samples! I think the key is knowing when and how much to use those types of tools.

So minimalistic, yet such huge sound! I completely understand capturing the right sound coming into the mics first. Makes so much sense. I think people lack the patience to get that great sound first. Or maybe don't even think about it anymore. At least that's true with the guys I work with... GREAT VIDEO!

Holysmokes.... I'm still kind of frozen in time with that intro!! What a killer-sounding drum... Jeez Louise!! Organic and full-sounding drums ,good job once again!!! But yeah, I would definitely check and get your courses cause I really like your simplistic way of mixing drums without 10 thousand plugins... I Would like to see more in detail your editing, phasing step before etc. And for sure the micing technique you are using.
