It can be time consuming just testing the water and temperature. Hope they love the hobby as much as we do!

What do you use the mason jar for? Feeding?

@@susancarlile8546 just general enrichment. It’s not porous so it doesn’t throw off the balance of the cycle.

Why didn’t you test the high range ph? I’m having trouble with just that one all others are great!😖except for the high range ph. I bought some brown leaves they told me to get at the store they said it will help I’ve had them in there for two days and still not helping

There are mixed feelings/info about testing for PH or putting anything in the water like salt baths or leaves. I'd rather err on the side of caution. I also have an albino and has the same filter and i use the same water and food. He doesn't seem to have any issues.

Does the chart tell you what levels they should be?

Hi, if they are not at those levels how do you GET them to those levels, I’m supper confused :(

Starting the cycle of a tank can take weeks. You fill your tank and get it filtering the water with all the decor and plants if you are using them. I have used a few punches of fish food or you can use decaying matter, like a small dead fish to start the process. This builds up ammonia which nitrates eat. Then nitrites will feed off the nitrate. If you have an established tank already, it’s way easier to take some dirty filter media and just let it sit in the tank for a few days. Then take it out. The tank will start cycling on its own after this. I use the dirty filter method. Don’t trust those “quick start” liquids. I use sechem prime to treat the water for chlorine and other harmful chemicals. Then after a few weeks the tank is ready for live animals.
