Sorry haters, but I (a woman with infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss) don't see a problem with what Colleen said. I do see a problem with people (especially strangers) saying "oh you are having twins, how were they conceived?" That literally does not matter and it's rude to ask.
Colleen’s apology is the most genuine thing I’ve ever heard in my life and I didn’t even hear anything “rude” or inconsiderate in the podcast. I think it’s just so great that she’s that type of person who fights for what’s right before the whole world “starts calling them out” such a great woman and such a beautiful soul!!
When she said that the people decorating the twins’ room were the “perfect people” to it, made me think of the Property Brothers: Jonathan Scott and Drew Scott, cause they are twins.
People are so quick to call someone "disgusting and awful" for someone who made one mistake. Colleen took responsibility and apologized. Colleen is inspired by these mothers who struggle and she looks up to these brave people. You guys will talk down on someone for the smallest mistakes.
That's great for her, she should be inspired by them. I've been a fan for a while so no I'm not just a "hater", and I genuinely hope all goes well with her. That being said I think a fan should be the one to say this, something about that "just kidding" is just way too similar to when people fuck up on livestreams and then the proceed to have a freak out moment. While that is okay and normal as a quick apology, it would of been best for her to introject a short but more thorough apology. I believe this because she knew some people wouldn't understand or maybe even take offense to that joke, hence the quick and short "just kidding". We live in a generation where everyone has such dark humor and makes jokes way worse than the one she said, but the second someone who is even slightly in the spotlight makes a joke and clarifies that it’s a joke, then it’s the end of the world. Coleen has such a good heart and doesn’t want to hurt anyone. That being said she shouldn’t have to apologize for everything she says.😐
As someone who is struggling to get pregnant I always say I'm broken, humor helps! (Things like p*ssy broke, no babies sorry) I personally don't take any offense from what you said, but I also appreciate the fact that you addressed it and apologized 🙂

As far as the podcast joke I knew by everything they were talking about and all the circumstances of Eric being born from ivf and her cheering on other ivf mom journeys that what she said was a joke and just like she said putting herself in the mindset of a person who would be ignorant enough to ask about how the twins were conceived in the first place. I hope you don’t beat yourself up about it and that others haven’t as well because I knew right away during the podcast where you were coming from and what you meant when making the joke. You are clearly a champion for all women and all pregnancy journeys ivf or not so hopefully everyone else can see that too.
i swear people will cut up clips to make people look like the bad guy. if i hadn’t come to this video i wouldn’t have known she said all those things about being inspired by women who struggle with infertility. People truly want to bring others down. I know colleen is sincere when she says she’s sorry. You were thinking “What would someone ignorant say to an IVF parent/parent of twins? What’re you, broken?! You couldn’t do it yourself??” Science and medicine are beautiful and a blessing, especially to those who need a little extra help and assistance toward their goals. We know that. You know that. They know that. It doesn’t mean we are broken. We are created in His image, but sometimes our bodies have shortcomings! Most people knew what you meant there. ❤️ Of course those people have a right to feel upset if they took it a certain way, but ultimately the way we choose to respond says the most about our characters. When you said “broken” my mind immediately went to the perspective of defense for you. If someone is coming up to you and asking how you conceived your twins, they ARE assuming you have a dysfunction. Using the word “broken” is a humorous defense that you shouldn’t have to apologize for. Yes, it’s a bit on the darker side of humor, but other people need to get a grip. You didn’t call other women broken, you defended yourself against the “broken” stereotype.

I didn’t perceive your podcast comment that people who are having difficulty conceiving as negative. Fact is all of us can’t have babies, I couldn’t; had to have a hysterectomy before I was able to. Life isn’t fair and that is NOT your fault, people are uber sensitive about everything. If we want to take it to the extreme, everyone should be telling me all the time that they are so sorry that I didn’t get to have a baby. I prefer to look at it as I get to be an Auntie and enjoy all of my friends children too. Hey, just a suggestion from a premie mom. Buy some premie sized things JUST in case. I had really small babies and with my first son I had NOTHING that would fit him and had to have my sister buy an outfit for him while I was in the hospital. I know with twins it's common to have them early and are possibly born small. So just thought I'd throw that out there. All love!

She’s constantly over explaining a lot of things. If you’ve never experienced infertility you have NO IDEA how hard it is. And how often you feel broken. Her apologizing isn’t a huge deal. And they were her words. They came out of her mouth. And there isn’t anything wrong with saying sorry.
Both myself and my husband have had issues with infertility. We are lucky to be expecting our 3rd baby. Took alot of tears to get here. I took no offence at all to Colleen's comment. People are far too sensitive nowadays.

Some TH-camrs choose not to do an official house tour for safety reasons. A video showing the layout of the house would make it easier to rob, so some people don’t do house tours.
Firstly, you are such an adorable person!! I love how excited you are about your babies and you’re such an amazing mother. Secondly, yes you made a mistake and you apologized. I don’t believe it’s my apology to accept as I’ve never been (so far) in a situation where I couldn’t have kids. But taking accountability for your joke, even though it wasn’t meant to be malicious, shows how much you care. And that’s great. So many others would tell people they’re being sensitive and to get over it but you actually listen.

If you've felt you had to apologise about that comment because people have complained....they are the one's that need to RELAX!! I know infertility can be a super touchy subject. I myself miscarried twins with my first pregnancy, was blessed with my rainbow baby 18mths later, and then experienced secondary infertility where we did begin to go through IVF, but we weren't able to continue coz I hurt my back and haven't been able to have more children. You do feel broken. I did. My husband did. And Colleen was saying it in a way that that is the sort of comment you might expect from stranger's. Which is unfortunately true! We got asked who's "problem" it was! A lot!! I just think it's really sad to upset this beautifully kind woman, when she already beats herself up way too much!

That’s a good point. She definitely was speaking on how inappropriate it is for people to ask about conception! As someone who is currently in fertility treatments, I did not take offense to her saying that at all.
You can sympathize with her making a thoughtless joke that she didn't mean to cause harm AND acknowledge that it was hurtful to a lot of people already dealing with a lot of pain AND acknowledge that her apology was both necessary and sincere. She does care about people, and that was still not a great thing to say. Real life human stuff happened.

It's in her head though, that thought. I would never have made a joke about it because I've never thought about them as broken. @@beaupeep6688 I've thought something similar as someone who does suffer from fertility problems. I really don't think she meant it that way at all. I think when talking about such a sensitive topic, yeah, people think things like that sometimes and make jokes about it. But she's also made it clear time and time again that it's a joke and you can tell with the context that she's meaning more of the things others say or think.
Somebody else that I watch on TH-cam made a video recently about how she absolutely loves being a mom, but has really hard pregnancies too. She talked about how incredible you are and how you talking about your struggles with your pregnancies makes her feel so seen and took the “stigma” of getting help and going to therapy away for her. You made that difference for her and I know that you have for so many other people too! You’re doing amazing things and you’re an absolutely amazing person!
I went through IVF 19 times and I had to stop because of 3 miscarriages. We know you meant nothing don't worry about it. It was just taking the tension out of the conversation. We love you.

That's great for her, she should be inspired by them. I've been a fan for a while so no I'm not just a "hater", and I genuinely hope all goes well with her. That being said I think a fan should be the one to say this, something about that "just kidding" is just way too similar to when people fuck up on livestreams and then the proceed to have a freak out moment. While that is okay and normal as a quick apology, it would of been best for her to introject a short but more thorough apology. I believe this because she knew some people wouldn't understand or maybe even take offense to that joke, hence the quick and short "just kidding". Let's not invalidate others feelings it just makes you look childish. This isn't about "canceling her", it's about how much accountability she should take.

I hope you don’t beat yourself up about it and that others haven’t as well because I knew right away during the podcast where you were coming from and what you meant when making the joke. You are clearly a champion for all women and all pregnancy journeys ivf or not so hopefully everyone else can see that too.

You were thinking “What would someone ignorant say to an IVF parent/parent of twins? What’re you, broken?! You couldn’t do it yourself??” Science and medicine are beautiful and a blessing, especially to those who need a little extra help and assistance toward their goals. We know that. You know that. They know that. It doesn’t mean we are broken. We are created in His image, but sometimes our bodies have shortcomings!
Most people knew what you meant there. ❤️ Of course those people have a right to feel upset if they took it a certain way, but ultimately the way we choose to respond says the most about our characters. Keep your head high and stay as happy and healthy as possible for your babies ❤️

If someone is coming up to you and asking how you conceived your twins, they ARE assuming you have a dysfunction. I didn’t perceive your podcast comment that people who are having difficulty conceiving as negative. Fact is all of us can’t have babies, I couldn’t; had to have a hysterectomy before I was able to. Life isn’t fair and that is NOT your fault, people are uber sensitive about everything.
If we want to take it to the extreme, everyone should be telling me all the time that they are so sorry that I didn’t get to have a baby.

Hey, just a suggestion from a premie mom. Buy some premie sized things JUST in case. I had really small babies and with my first son I had NOTHING that would fit him and had to have my sister buy an outfit for him while I was in the hospital. I know with twins it's common to have them early and are possibly born small. So just thought I'd throw that out there. All love!
This is very true! I had my twins at 36 weeks. I had to buy them Premie clothes. It is always best to have a couple of Premie just in case.

I don’t believe it’s my apology to accept as I’ve never been (so far) in a situation where I couldn’t have kids. But taking accountability for your joke, even though it wasn’t meant to be malicious, shows how much you care. And that’s great. So many others would tell people they’re being sensitive and to get over it but you actually listen.

I know infertility can be a super touchy subject. I myself miscarried twins with my first pregnancy, was blessed with my rainbow baby 18mths later, and then experienced secondary infertility where we did begin to go through IVF, but we weren't able to continue coz I hurt my back and haven't been able to have more children.
You do feel broken. I did. My husband did. And Colleen was saying it in a way that that is the sort of comment you might expect from stranger's. Which is unfortunately true! We got asked who's "problem" it was! A lot!!
I just think it's really sad to upset this beautifully kind woman, when she already beats herself up way too much!
Not me expecting her to say something terrible and it wasn’t yet she still made an apology for it. I could not imagine always censoring myself

I’m annoyed and sad. I understand that the joke might have been tasteless but ppl who probe multiples mom about how their babies were conceived are gross. “So did you buy these twins from a doctor or make them with your husband”, is what they imply by probing. Colleen was speaking on how invasive those questions are and it was not received well but I think she’s right! And it isn’t anyone’s business
That’s a good point. She definitely was speaking on how inappropriate it is for people to ask about conception! As someone who is currently in fertility treatments, I did not take offense to her saying that at all.
You can sympathize with her making a thoughtless joke that she didn't mean to cause harm AND acknowledge that it was hurtful to a lot of people already dealing with a lot of pain AND acknowledge that her apology was both necessary and sincere. She does care about people, and that was still not a great thing to say. Real life human stuff happened.

If anything, with that "broken" joke, Colleen wasn't voicing her own opinion but making a joke about other people's opinions on those who are infertile.
It's in her head though, that thought. I would never have made a joke about it because I've never thought about them as broken. She then watched it back and heard it again while edited, and thought it was good. It was only when others pointed out it's kinda rude, that she was like oh oops time for another apology video! Her jokes can be real dark.

@@beaupeep6688 I've thought something similar as someone who does suffer from fertility problems. I really don't think she meant it that way at all. I think when talking about such a sensitive topic, yeah, people think things like that sometimes and make jokes about it. But she's also made it clear time and time again that it's a joke and you can tell with the context that she's meaning more of the things others say or think.

Somebody else that I watch on TH-cam made a video recently about how she absolutely loves being a mom, but has really hard pregnancies too. She talked about how incredible you are and how you talking about your struggles with your pregnancies makes her feel so seen and took the “stigma” of getting help and going to therapy away for her. You made that difference for her and I know that you have for so many other people too! You’re doing amazing things and you’re an absolutely amazing person!
