i have watched 10 now 11 videos on this headband and YOU were the first one to put it on and move around... every one else just set it on their face and said nice.... TY TY TY TY I clicked purchase because of you
Glad I could help!
the whole assembling of the headstrap looks so scary!
Yeah, Ill be honest first time I switched the head strap I went super slow. But at this point I've switched it so many times I don't even stress. While you do have to be careful, its more sturdy then one would think.
The buzzing comes from the voltage regulator in the headset. Basically any voltage other than 9volts will cause a buzzing sound. All voltage regulators do this when they're having to convert from one voltage to another, but you normally don't notice it because the voltage regulation generally happens far away from your ears, like in the AC power adapter.
If BOBOVR and others made proper 9volt batteries for the Quest3, this wouldn't be an issue.
Hmm interesting, I originally thought it was the cooling fan working overtime. But now that you mention it that could be it.
@@unmatchedvalue It's definitely not the fan because when I plug it into my super expensive ungodly high quality wall charger, it doesn't buzz at all, ever. I've also taken the headset apart and isolated the sound to the actual regulator, and run testing. It happens on any voltage other than 9volt, and the buzz's pitch is proportional to the difference between the supplied voltage and 9volt.
It's also a lot louder when it's close to a full charge on the Quest3's own internal battery.
There are other means of transforming voltage than voltage regulators, means that are quiet, but none as compact or light weight as what's being used.
Oh that's actually useful information thanks.
@@unmatchedvalue To be clear, it's switching regulators. Non-switching regulators are quiet but they convert the waste into heat instead of sound. Switching is used in applications like this to reduce heat. Everything with tradeoffs.
I was going to post a comment asking if that only happens with this headset battery or if it was anything, because I haven't had an issue with the battery bank I've been using.
Wonder if I just stick with that and get a non-battery headstrap
They have an updated version called the S3 with a battery better suited for the quest 3, making it quieter and deliver power faster
Yeah I been wanting to get my hands on that but haven't had the time. But I hear good things.
@@unmatchedvalue I just got it two days ago and it is awesome
The little velcro thingy is actually velcro'd under the forehead cushion, so you can take it out completely by first pulling off the forehead cushion. This way you can thread the velcro strip through the Quest much easier and have it flipped too because by default the Bobo put it in kinda backwards in my opinion. The biggest issue with the Bobo to me isn't the occasional battery buzzing but how loud the knob adjuster in the back is. When you tighten the knob it makes the worlds loudest clicks so everyone in your house will know that you're putting on your VR headset lol
Oh that's actually useful I didn't think about checking how it was connected under the cushion. Just out of curiosity I went and compared the clicking sound of this versus some of the other ones I'm testing and it is close to the loudest of them. But it is the smoothest on release when your taking it off.
Thank you for the break down. I like and added a comment for exposure.
Thanks for supporting the channel!
Great review. One thing apart from the buzzing that some people write about.. how does the battery hold up over time? Concerned that the battery will not be strong enough to charge the Meta Quest fast enough before it loses power.
Let me know, as I am trying to make a decision between the one you have or spending a lot more for the S3 (which I rather not). Thank you
Would the strap be good for onward when it comes to rolling and ducking quickly
I've tried it on several active games and I would say its one of the best ones I've tried at staying put, especially with the honey comb padding.
I bought this for my quest 3s I’m getting soon
Amazing vid, thanks. Just bought that headstrap ! Are your from Canada Québec ?
You're welcome, hope you like it and no I'm not from Quebec. I've moved around a bit so I have a unique accent lol.
I think I'm going to get this one because I could replace the two cells for 5 dollars each. I probably upgrade the cell for more mAh.
im getting a really bad pressure on my forehead where the pad is. I don't see too many people talk about this and I don't seem to have it set up wrong. I get a headache after only 30 minutes with the bobovr and it is even worse than the stock for me. It feels like the weight it going right on that top pad
So what I would try to do is spread the weight/pressure evenly between the top pad and the face shield of the quest, so basically slide the bobo further forward on your quest so that the top headband basically rests on top of the quest face shield top padding at pretty much the same level. The way i have mine set up is the top padding on the bobo basically looks like a continuation of the quest shield padding on the top.
i just got it and it is 1000x better imo. you must have a head liker herman munster
1:01 As someone who just bought the M3 Pro, it still says Quest 2 on the manual haha
Haha surprised they haven't updated it.
short and straight to the point! THANKS, aslo i have a question, can you use this strap without the facial interface? will the lenses be touching your eyes? or will you be seeing too much of the outside world?
Yes you can I think I touch on it a little bit towards the end of the video. It will let in a lot of light for VR, but if you are doing AR it works great.
@@unmatchedvalue that's nice i didn't notice u removed it, the default one is crushing my face, and no amazon or anything in my country to buy an avmr replacment
You can try AliExpress they sell some aftermarket head straps for the Q3
@@unmatchedvalue @unmatchedvalue yeah i ve been looking there, actually i found that they sell this exact one you got bobovr m3 pro, it will cost a little more obvy but well what can i do, and they also have AMVR face pad V1 do you think they work well together? Or i won't need to replace face pad if i get bobo m3 pro? Like will it still be pressuring my face, and thanks for the answers mate
@World.21 For me personally the bobo is enough, I spread the pressure between the front of the bobo and the face pad. I would try a halo type head strap like the bobo and if its not enough I would look into a new face pad.
My BoboVR M3 Pro strap is making a buzzing noise in the built in speakers when it's plugged in to the Quest (and the battery is on). Is it normal, or I have a faulty strap? 🤔 I didn't hear any buzzing noise when I was using the M2 strap with the Quest 2.
I like the concept but if i cant gt more batteries for the thing, then no point in a replacable
They do sell additional batteries. Sometimes they go out of stock though.
For VR goggles I wish I was bald 🤔 When I use mine, after a long session I have a chicken coop on my head 😅
Haha I wouldn't know.
Im assuming its a yes but can I just use the link cable instead of having the battery pack cable plugged in? I usually exclusively use pcvr via link cable instead of airlink. Also is it possible to wear overear headphones while using the strap? Thats the main reason I want to replace the stock strap, and it looks like theres enough room but i want to be sure.
Yes, if I'm not using the plug I keep it under the Velcro strap on the front of the headset. I did try some headphones and I was able to wear them but I have Audio-Technica Ad1000x so they are built a little different then normal headphones.
How long is the battery
I'd say it lasts about the same length of time as the built in battery of the quest. So kind of almost doubles the amount of time you can use it for.
Hi, how long does the battery take to charge, and how long does it lasts?
I use the quest charger and it takes about the same time to charge as the quest 3 and from my experience it has the same battery life as the quest. So basically it doubles it.
can you charge the Q3 with a normal cable plugged into the headset while in use?
I'm assuming you're asking if you need to charge the q3 with the Bobovr while using the head strap. The answer is no you can unplug the bobo wire and plug in your normal cable.
Are the 2 little top pieces removable? I dont think I would like those
From what I can tell they are not. But the pads are removable so if you take those off the pieces shouldn't touch your head.
For games like pavlov and fnaf where you have to move your head quickly, does this headset do a good job of not shifting or shaking?
Yes, I tried it with Contractors and in my opinion it does a much better job then the stock head band. Especially if you use the rubber back padding that holds it in place very firmly. I have several head bands and this is pretty much the only one I use nowadays.
How about laying down? If I have my head on the pillow will it be more comfortable with or without it?
ahh honestly that's a tough one, but honestly probably without it.
what face shield is that?
its the regular face shield with a silicone cover on it. I actually did a quick video on it here. th-cam.com/video/VWIvbwr4BVg/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=UnmatchedValue
Can you able to recharge the battery ?
Yes, you can recharge the battery.
Does the battery provide enough power to charge the headset while playing?
yes, depending on what you are doing on the headset it will either charge or stay the same. But usually if I'm not doing anything super intensive and start charging around 50 % battery on the quest, it will be like 65% ish when the bobo battery runs out.
Have you tried the Aukia battery strap? how does it compare?
I haven't tried that one, honestly never even heard of it.
Thanks Bobovr should be paying you for this because their instructions were awful
Glad to help and I wish they would haha.
I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but it hurts my neck so bad
How to recharge the Q3 battery without turning off bobovr m3 Pro?
There is a type c usb cable that on the bobovr you plug it in like you normally do.
Great video! Are you interested in collaborating with us to review our new magnetic battery head strap for quest 3?
My m3 pro head strap falls off while playing and idk why its just not fitting right and i dont have a big head
maybe it just doesn't work for your head shape? Have you tried switching out the back padding to the more rubber like one, I find that one is more grippy?
Battery on this head strap still does not charge the quest 3 properly. Kiwi is the only one that has solved this so far.
Well depends on what you call properly, it does pretty much double my battery life. Although I have heard good things about kiwi, I just like the halo style headsets more.
@@unmatchedvalue The new BoboVr s3 pro just released looks promising
What dors it mean 'properly charge'? Bobo can charge, what the issue?
No hair the hallpad man. I got a long hair It does nothing but pulls it
Haha Well I guess I'm lucky I don't have to worry about that. I hope at least the regular back pad works good.
Just get the elite strap its kore light weight
Great headstrap but not suitable for games like Les mills as it will shake as you quickly move. And good luck fitting that Velcro inside that tiny space in the headset…)
Haha honestly it actually did really well on action games, was on pretty solid; way better then the original strap. Although I didn't test it on that particular game. I also did a comparison video on different types of head straps, so I had to disconnect and reconnect that Velcro strap way more times than I would like to remember.
Just get rid of that velcro strap. Absolutely useless.
I've actually been using it to hold the USB plug from the head strap when I'm not using the battery.
I took it off and played with the m3 pro for hours and it was so comfy but then when I found out people use the velcro thingy I started looking for it but its useless
@@Exanell can you take it of cleanly or do you have to cut it? it’s a small question but please respond 🙏🏾
@@palps797 just rip it off
@@Exanell k thanks
It's battery is completely useless.
while I agree it could/should be better I find it almost doubles the length of time I can use the quest. In my opinion the key is to connect it when the headset battery gets to about 50%
The voice is Indian but the actor is bald white. Lol
haha sorry to disappoint.
