That was awesome of Brandon to gift you that old Snap On ratchet but it was even more awesome of you to send it back home to him. It looks awesome Jesse! Nicely done
Love what you did to the ratchet I have snap on 3/8 breaker bar and 9/16 socket I found at a yard sale in a dollar bin couldn’t read anything but for a dollar I couldn’t go wrong both stamped with G I only cleaned it up just enough to show the younger techs at work makes for a great conversation piece love my little piece of history thanks for sharing love the channel
There’s a person on Facebook marketplace in my local area that has one of these 1/2” Snap On 71n ratchets for sale for $40. I’ve been on the fence about going to get it. This video has inspired me to go pick it up
That is an amazing deal! You should definitely go get it. Warning, once you get one and clean it up, you likely will be hooked. LOL. If you don’t like it I will always take it off your hands. LOL…
@ yessir I’m going tomorrow to grab it up. It has the G so I think that’s like 1945 it was made. I didn’t know much about these until today but I’ve been looking more into the history. Very interesting stuff. It definitely looks like it needs some cleaning up. What do you recommend as far as cleaning it and trying to restore it a bit? I’m hoping the internals are decent because it seems like rebuild kits are very hard to get
@@tannerwest6823 That's very cool that you will be picking that up. As far as restoring it, you might check out one of my longer detailed process videos where I go into what I do. The best advice I have, take your time and you take it as far as you want it to go. In the end you have to be proud of it. Send me a pic when you get done. I would love to see that. Thanks for the great vidio. Once a pond a time Sears had the " X " catalog that came out maybe a month after Christmas back in the 1970 & 80's. If you purchased ten or more tools they gave you an incredible 40% discount. Catalog prices back then were always 3 to maybe 8% cheaper then tools purchased in the store. I had a Craftsman metric socket & combination wrench sets that I added to. I must have purchased a dozen ratchet extension on bars ( a few if 1/4, 3/8 & 1/2 " types from shortest to longest. Think the great Craftsman combination wrench set stretched from 5 to 21 millimeters. I have purchased handy Snap On 8 point 3/8 & 1/2" sockets at flea markets very cheap for using on Greenlee drive bolts for making knick outs on electrical boxes.
That is a great story and it sounds like you had a really nice collection! The good ol’ days. LOL. I wish I would have been smart enough to get in on deals like that back then. Thanks for sharing!
Well done Jesse‼️👍
Thank you. I really like the ratchet, sad to see it go but happy it will be in good hands.

Wow it's a deal Jesse
Enjoy it!
Brass should bling when possible! 👍🛠
Amen. That's what I think!
E was the 1944 date code and G was 1945 code
Yes, you are correct. My brain goes mushy when in front of the camera. I tried to insert a correction with text. Thank you for helping and watching!
You are a good guy. I would love to talk to you.
Thanks for watching. This was a fun experience. Do you have a project for me? LOL….
