My dad was a typical old school farmer, his moto the only thing better than cheap was free. Lol. I never him buying a new tool, always went to the pawn shop to get wrenches n such. But he did have a 1/2' Penn ratchet with a complete SAE socket set with a half dozen wrenches of various brands. I though they were long since lost to sticky fingers, but we were clean out our shed not long ago and found a box with some random things with my dads tools in thd bottom. I almost cried finding those tools, bringing back such good memories. Thanks for the video and memories.

I'm just a collector of all USA made tool😂 i do however have all of my dads tools,he too was a mechanic by trade but he also enjoyed woodworking so i have all of his wood planes and hand saws and they are my most cherished tools of his because he taught me from a very young age how to use them. He built most of the furniture in my childhood home and i always hung out in his woodshop and helped him. I cherish all of his tools because he taught me auto mechanics, woodworking, plumbing, ect. But those old anes belonged to his grandfather and father then him and now me so 4 generations of men in my family have used these and he taught me very young as well. Woodworking is very therapeutic to me because i can see him guidinge as i used them.

I have two tools that are sentimental and special to me. I know what you mean.
I lost my father very early on in my adult life but I cherish every single time we ever worked on anything together.
My cherished items are some tools he had engraved when he worked an industrial job when he was my age. They have his initials so they will always be special.
The other tool is a basic Kobalt 1/4 drive metric/sae “mechanics set” with screwdriver and Torx/hex bits. Him and I did so many motorcycle and household repairs with that set. We got more than our money’s worth for sure.
Thank you for uploading this video, it was good!

My father didn't have tools. I have tools that I have had since I was a kid. I would find them in the road then and still do now.
The real trigger to collecting was when I began seeing Made In USA disappearing. I started searching Yard Sales....migrated to auctions and then found my true addiction in Estate Sales. The more tools I spotted, the more new friends I found.

Got a decent amount of my great grandpas tools from the 50’s through the 70’s but a majority were stolen around 20 years ago unfortunately. I have ONE 5/16 Snap On wrench left from that collection. I used that ratchet for 20 years. Other than a couple important sockets that was one of my first snap on tools. I actually just sold it on eBay and got a bahco that is the same as the last series of snap on ratchets that don’t intentionally break and a Koken. Hopefully someone got it that it was sentimental to. I did a refresh of my tools and got rid of a lot of older snap on stuff. I have a proto ratchet in my old school drawer. It’s mostly pliers. I love old pliers. There are about 10 pairs and they are pretty important to my collection even though I got them like 2 years ago
