It's good to see a dream fulfilled. I grew up with a pine paneled, tongue and groved breaseway in NJ. A pot belly stove could get the walls so hot the pine would sweat. Coal could make the belly glow, but it got too hot.
The most impressive part of your showmanship is the encouragement to push through obstacles & not let little things like testing the waters get you down. Love your ideas & the joy you bring with it.❤
Beautiful transformation. So wonderful to pay homage to the original owners. I have to laugh with seeing the Prince Albert can. All I thought was the prank phone calls growing up "Do you have Prince Albert in a can? Let him out". (My mom was a store operator and got those calls all the time) LOL
Beautifully done! I so enjoyed this. 😊 When you were showing us the photos in the dining room and sharing personal memories of the owners, I was thinking how wonderful it was that YOU got to purchase this house and let its legacy live on. So special!! I’m officially homesick for the Skagit Valley - perhaps we’ll come visit sometime! 😊
The home turned out wonderful!! Glad you kept the kitchen cabinets and the paneling. We rebuilt our mudroom last summer and found that there wasn't any insulation in the outside walls. Here in northern MI insulation is a very good thing! You guys did a great job on the home. So many times people just remove the history of the home and add modern stuff. Keeping as much of the original home as you could is like paying honor to the first family that lived there. Thanks for sharing. God bless and protect.
Now that was impressive. It hasn't been that long since you bought the place. I really like that you honor the history of the place. The picture wall was a great idea. The black grate that you used in the living room was brilliant. You and your husband are a great team.
That wallpaper is beautiful! What a wonderful find! You've done a fantastic job restoring the house. I bet Clara would be so happy to see her home brought back to life in such a beautiful way!
🇦🇺 you should take high resolution photos of the wallpaper and go to spoonflower and print the design. You can choose the type of fabric, wall paper, canvas etc. there are other companies that do this as well.
Wow, incredible work and fast! We've been working on our early 1900's home for 10 years. Our house is over 100 years old. We also found newspaper from the early 1900's, as well as other funny items stuffed in the walls ;). I love how you preserved the story and history of the people who lived there.
Oh my goodness, it is absolutely gorgeous! I have been waiting for this video to see the finished house! You did a great job! I know it was a lot of work.
Hi Malissa, I spent some 40 years as a carpenter, a lot of remodeling in Skagit Valley . Your contractor has done what looks to be a great job on the house. Most customers wanted us to do three things . Do the job fast, cheap, and good. Two are possible, but always at the expense of the third. My son is now doing house remodeling and can not keep up with demand. Cost is usually the big problem. Most job remodeling cost equals -New,times 2 plus 25 % . From Lake McMurray, Semper Fi.
When I saw the wallpaper I said, “wow! she picked a paper that has a perfect look for the age of the house. When you said you found the paper behind the closet I was very surprised that it wasn’t new paper. I love the kitchen, I love the wallpaper, I love the original bathroom window. I think you did an amazing job with the updates!
Love the updates to your Farmhouse. It is so wonderful that you were able to use your old stove and get the new Cafe dual fuel range for your everyday kitchen.
This was so fun to watch and to hear the stories! We have remodeled our old farmhouse as well, and understand all the work it takes. Love the way you blended the original with a fresh update.
You guys did such a great job renovating the farmhouse while preserving the historical feel of the home. I look forward to visiting with my family one day.
It looks so warm and welcoming and it's lovely that you've kept family photos and such from it's caretakers over the years. The piece of wallpaper was a wonderful find and in such good condition too! These things are always a lot more work than you expect. I've just bought a 250 year old building, converted once 100 years ago and partially again in the 70s. We're doing up the top apartment, at first glance we though it would mainly be decorating and carpets etc, 6 weeks at most.. Well, it's currently ripped right back to the brick walls, all the flooring need redoing, plumbing, heating etc and since we'll only have it in that state once, we're getting the electrics, insulation etc updated too. Hoping to be ready for late spring but that's optimistic!
I love, love, love what you have done!! I am remodeling and old former one room school house/home. I am saving this video for ideas, especially for the kitchen and bathroom. LOVE the wallpaper! Love the idea of "picture framing" the paper in. Great idea!
Really beautiful Melissa. This was a lot of work and I'm really impressed you got it all done as quickly as you did even with the delays. Well done! Y'all worked hard and it looks wonderful!
I was wondering how the repairs were going on this old farm house you had purchased! I love your touches to the place and you have done a magnificent job transforming that place from what it was! Good job to you and your family - what a wonderful home!
You all sure gave the old place justice with that heartfelt renovation! Thanks for the tour! My favorite piece is the kitchen light fixture. Although it is hard to see in this video, I remember similar fixtures from my granny's old home and the light fixtures always get my vote ✨👈🏼😎
We had similar print wallpaper in our first Victorian. It’s an apple blossom pattern and ours was various pinks, greens and cream. I left ours up as well. Grew up in a 3 story house with triple plaster lath and no insulation, but we had coal and wood furnace. Sure wish we had insulated the attic floor as I think it would have saved all of us a lot of firewood work. Nice job.
Thirty-five years ago I would run fabric from floor to ceiling with boards on the side in my apartments because I could not paint. It looked like your old wall paper. I think it looks lovely!
I love the Wallpaper. Dogwood flowers are a very classic motif for wallpaper. The buffet in the dining room is it original or a family piece? It's amazing. Looks awesome with the Milk glass. Jadite salt and pepper set, cup and saucer, cake stand love! Depression glass sugar bowl, juicer are awesome!
Your kitchen - from the style of the cabinets to that long sink light fixture - is classic 1960's. Looks like my 1963 ranch. I also recognize the light at 18:00 which you correctly ID as 1920's. This is exactly like my grandparents' rural house which was electrified in the '20's. To save money though, most of their lights in less formal areas were just a hanging light bulb in the center of the room lol.
I've been wondering how it was going! You guys did a wonderful restoration, I appreciate the thought, and extra work, that went into saving all the things possible. I also love the mirror in the last bedroom, wonder if that was an original. Bless you, from Bonney Lake, WA
Gorgeous! That wallpaper is everything! So cool that it is in such good shape. I would love to buy some if you have it replicated and offer it for sale.
Wow! - from someone who inherited 5 houses & never did gain the expertise, have the time, or find helpful professionals to do a great job on any of them.
We just bought our forever property (I hope) with 4 acres and I am wanting a grey green for a couple of the rooms. Could you share the dining room paint color you chose? I think it's exactly what I am looking for. Love that wall paper and I am not a wall paper fan.
Wonderful job done restoring the old farmhouse! The Lord did indeed direct you in purchasing this place. Where did you find that towel rack on the bathroom wall? I've been looking for one of those. Hubby & I helped with his late mother's 1920's bungalow. Found and restored a lovely light fixture there.
Hi Melissa, I enjoyed your video on your farm house. I like the electric fireplace would you tell me where you got it I would like to put one in my house I a fireplace, in my house I want to put a electric fireplace in thank you very much
Cute house! May I make one tiny suggestion though? Can you pull the rug and sofas away from the walls to form a mire cizy arrangement near tbe fireplace? They look sort of shoved back and one sofa is looking into the side of the ither. That seems unnecessary as it looks like the room is big enough. The rest of the house looks so cizy and friendly. This room seems to lack a little something.
Looks beautiful. Couldn't find the location or cost per night, on the listing. Maybe I missed it. We have an airbnb on our property and the city, state, and price are listed (not the address).
Could've done without the dig at tobacco, and from a farmer no less. Tobacco played a pivotal role in the foundational agrarian economy of this country and it's history in the farm economy deserves to be honored.

The Prince Albert can is my favorite thing....I just love it. Don't know why but I do.
That would be a dream come true! If only the US would open the borders😢
Turned out amazing thank you for saving the wood on the walls I grew up in a small house that had one room in the pine walls.
The most impressive part of your showmanship is the encouragement to push through obstacles & not let little things like testing the waters get you down. Love your ideas & the joy you bring with it.❤

What I love most is the amount of natural light 💕

You could always add a full length mirror on the painted wall next to the 30ties wall paper.

It was laminate flooring from Lowe's.
