Could it be that the laptop has 2x GPUs? My Lenovo has the GPU on the CPU and a separate GPU. When I use a 2nd monitor, I typically see one GPU drive one screen, while the other GPU drives the other. This may explain the difference in latency that we see.

Already got two, ha ha. First, I'd like to implement this to connect one mini PC to a portable 15 inch monitor intended to mirror Serato, this setup wpuld add a workable screen to my DJ controllers. The second is just more simple since I'd like to connect the transmitter to my PC and the receiver to my pen display to liberate it from sharing the same desk with my regular monitor. I'm not sure of it will work, but it's worth trying.

With high gain directional antennas and LOS(line of sight) you could definitely pull a lot more out of it. So I backed this on Kickstarter after seeing this video. Once it arrived I promptly plugged in to my laptop and external screen. The lag was horrible, so I packed the Hyper Mirror up and put it away. Today, I decided to try it out again - this time with iPad Pro and a TV. This time it worked as advertised - until I laid the iPad flat on the table, which cut the connection completely. It was then that I remembered that in my first test the laptop itself was placed between the receiver and the transmitter. This leads me to the conclusion that the 60 mm wave has the same weakness as the IR - the receiver and the transmitter must see each other at all times. Hopefully this limitation will be removed in the future version of this technology.

Whilst this may well be the case, it's also possible that it's simply an artefact of the rolling shutter from the camera. The easiest way to check for this would be to repeat the test with the screen positions swapped. Regardless, this device is indeed very impressive, hopefully, this hints the end of this era of cables. Is this the same specification as the vive wireless adapter? because that uses some nasty alien antennas on the head, would be amazing if we can get wireless VR in this kind of form factor!!

I'm a backer, 1 month later after filling out the survey I still haven't gotten a shipment or tracking number.
The ones that did receive it report it being FAR from the quality of your video, constant artifacting, jittering, latency and pairing issues where you couldn't cast from a distance of over half a meter.
I was blown away by this video and backed it, but so far, seems like a scam, so anyone else getting impressed by this, don't bother.

Just came in the mail today, tried it out, didn't work, only static signal and the signal would cut off constantly.
I didn't connect it directly to a TV, it was on a HDMI Switch that is connected to a Capture Card in order to visualize the video feed directly on my PC without the need of recording beforehand.
It's important to mention that it sends the feed in HDCP mode, which can make the feed incompatible with a wide range of devices.
it might had worked if I connected it directly to a TV or Monitor, but I didn't even bother trying because it failed in the usecase I wanted to use it in.
Was the highest tier backer where you get all the extras plus a small bag with a zip to put everything in it, disappointed, It'll be catching dust in there for the coming years.

One major thing to note, millimeter wave does NOT go through solid like WiFi would. You need a direct line of sight between the receiver and transmitter for this to work effectively. If that line of sight is broken, the connection will be interrupted or dropped.
ASUS has actually released something like this already with the ROG phone. Millimeter wave (mmWave) is also one of the few implementations for 5G networking.

    • @HumbertoSaabedra
      @HumbertoSaabedra 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yeah, mmWave has been a concept talked about for over a decade as the basis for IP-based cellular telephony and data connections. The biggest issue has always been overcoming the inherent coverage limitations due to the exceptionally high frequency used to transmit/receive data. At this point, carriers are just building out 5G mmWave cellsites every 500 feet in the city centers and nearby suburbs with existing fiber deployments while using lower range radio frequencies for broader coverage at the expense of lower speeds. I genuinely wonder if this device would interfere with any nearby mmWave cellsites and devices.

    - Transmitter can not tolerate ANY obstruction between it and the receiver. I can wave my hand in front of it and cause the stream to drop out. Need to maintain constant line of site between tx and rx.
    - They only provide you with one really short usb c cable meant for phone use. Would've been nice if they provided a slightly longer cable for tablets/pc. Also, I think the cable might be unidirectional.
    - TX and RX need to be 'paired' every time it is turned on . A simple button press is not an issue for most, but I was hoping to use this as a super easy solution to allow my parents to display their phones on their tv. I hope this isn't a dealbreaker for them :P.
Other than that, it's pretty great! Only time will tell if it is slowly cooking my insides.

The only solution I'm aware of is for the Vive, but that's a couple of years old and I believe they compress the video on that. What I have wanted is to be able to use my laptop in tablet mode, or an actual tablet, mirrored on my TV, with no cables. Chromecast was the best option until now, but it doesn't work with all apps, it crashes randomly, resolution is limited, video playback is slow, and it is not meant for laptops although with a lot of messing around you can get limited use on a laptop. Makes me wonder why mm-wave, having been in existence since 2008 has not gained more traction from large corporations because practical uses re out there and it's a big part of the whole 5G infrastructure. I can see hardcore gamers going for something like this but at the base price of $99, not likely to catch on in a big way right now. But I am guessing that a few companies out there will be following progress and so expect it to become something that we will see more of over the next couple of years. The fact that it has not only taken what is essentially a no name brand to bring it to any kind of market in 12 years is quite astonishing since wireless everything has been one of the great goals for a long time now. When something comes out around the $50 point then I would jump in but for now I'll watch and see how development progresses.

The thing is that it only supports 1080p.
So maybe in the future when an 4K option would be available I'll purchase one.
Because I would pair this with a PS4 Pro/PS5/PC and I want that 4K/HDR/RayTracing to be supported while using this device.
I understand that it's a Kickstarter but this would have been cool a few years back when 1080p was enough.
But to come out today with only 1080p capabilities is kind of late.
Still a perfect device for 1080p though.

I think this thing serves better for hooking up laptops and smart phones/tablets, where you want quick hookup and as little cables as possible. For regular game systems i'm not seeing the practical point. Not much point in using this on normal wired game systems. You still need to hook the system up to power and the system is usually next to the monitor/tv your gaming on so whats one extra cable hdmi? I'd personally rather plug an extra cable instead of latency. This is better for those who want to quickly show whats on a laptop/phone/tablet without having to run multiple cables.

6:10 Zero lag is a big claim and in this case is false. You can clearly see that there is latency when the guy is clicking in the smartphone (look at the pink light at the screen), if I can see it in video there is no way there is no lag, and that's a big no for gaming.

Be it a raspberry pi, TV set top box, recorder player, or I use it to transmit the security cameras to a screen in the bedroom 60ft, one exterior brick wall, four interior walls and one floor. with excellent clarity, no delay. it is out of the box, plug and play simple.
