Without sounding creepy, I was just wondering how you were… had a s* day, rest of my family are watching that well known singing competition and as I loaded up the Tube, there you were… my heart skipped a beat and the world became a special place once more - you are a diamond, a gem, a jewel… and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Thank you, as always, for sharing.
I don't know what has spurred this up tick in your video posting frequency. But I love it and long shall it continue. Another banger as always. Thank you sir.
Coincidentally i have just watched this video while killing time sitting in an Esprit V8 in the glorious sunshine while i wait for my son. I really want to see this car finished but like everyone else enjoy the rebuild videos.
Time to get souped up! Beware the galvanic corrosion between stainless and carbon steels. Especially if something is in an area prone to getting wet or damp.
Mate you content is about the best of the you tube, like what TV was ment to be, what you do is unique. Not having the skills to do something means just means finding out how to do it without fear. The man the journey the result full stop.
Dont forget to drill out the keys! People always forget the keys. But you can swiss cheese those things because they need very little in the way of structure. Love the build!
Really enjoying this series, even with the big gaps in videos I'm still looking forward to seeing this rebuilt. Brilliant editing skills, a joy to watch.
You don't necessarily need a mandrel bender to make the coolant pipes. You do need a tube guide for the bender, depending on the material, maybe pack it with sand or try WS8 resin. If you can't get hold of a tube guide, try a piece of 1/4" thick strap to spread the pressure from the roller, altering the bend pressure by moving the roller in or out. If you have a solid bench, mount tge bender horizontally and use a big tube to get some leverage. If you can find it, maybe 409 stainless tube? It's less corrosion resistant than 304 or 316, but it bends with a lot less hassle.
I have had a mini and did not particularly like the original colour and kept it. Had a 1968 Ford Galaxy XL Fast back colour was Sun Lit Gold Metallic. After I stripped the car the painter begged me to pair it metallic blue. I did not and never regretted my decision. I hate to comment but keep it the original colour white. Love the channel. Thanks George
the lotus is making progress! I recently got myself a powder coating gun and an old oven. It is the way to go for painting all the little brackets and pieces. no fumes, no over spray, and perfect glossy finish in 20 mins, save so much time. You should give it a go. Now i wish i had a sand sand blaster setup like yours.
I miss my Esprit. I had a 1991 Turbo and she gave me many years of joy and pain. I had to let her go as I could no longer give her enough time due to work and family commitments, but watching this I need her back but in reality I can't give her the time she needs to be looked after. Those days will be looked back on fondly like an old girlfriend who demanded a bit too much but who had a good time in life. Daym I miss her.
First up, I love the green!! i tore myself away from the vapour blaster to watch this! it's so cool you found something that only needed a little panel wipe! Looking foward to more! thank you...
Great fekin work as allways brother........to the doubters, this is a top job and colour is a matter of taste........ a mean, lean and lovely green retro racing machine. Full loved quality and a great achievement. Well done and keep up the great work and simply put....the best resto vids on the devil tube
Nice one George, I have very nearly finished getting my Puma back on the road, so I will hopefully be getting back on the Excel Project very soon !! Hope your well mate 👍
Your videos makes me want to hit the like-button several times. Perhaps I need to become a Patreon? Great work as always, George! It's you, Roland Finger and the Binky boys that gives me the most valuable content.
The colour on his poster looks like Lotus Martin Racing Green (A09), which is a nice Lotus colour however it didnt come out until 1979 on the Esprit, So I agree with you .
Looking good there, George! Always a joy, (and disappointment), to find those parts in perfect condition! 😉 Yay! I don't have to replace it! / Boo! I don't have any excuse to replace it! Even when you don't have the satisfaction of reassembly, preparation is progress. And we have to keep the 6P principle in mind.
i loved the lightening of the bits at the end. I'd do the same thing and call myself super lazy if i didnt now weighing the shaving bits... thats a few steps beyond OCD hhahaha great build, keep up the excellent work!
That would be so cool re Posters! I am in Canada but I am definitely in. Fits with my 70’s mindset! I am thinking I need someone to do one of a / my Flared 914!
Great intro George, you set a lovely tone on each episode. Those green lotus prints could be direct from the 80's -just need to have an airbrushed lass draped somewheres in them. That GREEN on the car evokes allusion of the Alfa Romeo Carabo concept car in a good way. I'm really curious if you are going to set off the paintwork with some bright accent stripes or lettering like the concept car did... cheers brother!
Congratulations on the 100 episode. George. So i was thinking. As you like drilling holes in solid components which i find oddly therapeutic. Perhaps when it comes to rebuilding th engine.. you could leave the core plugs out of the block. 1/ gives that space age (1999) look. . 2/ adds lightness...🙂
Fascinating stuff as always, I suspect the material removed from the gear linkage is going to be way the most noticable when it's finished, it's easy to forget how much weight of metal you're stirring around with each gearchange, a classic example of every little helps !!!
Nice motivation wall. That should cause some acceleration! Glad you're keeping the level of video artistry up as the pace of work is picking up. Must be quite a difficult balance
You should use a ship anoid on the side of your frame to stop rust. They work. Also fill your pipe with sand, tape the ends. They will bend better. No kinks!
I love your videos, especially the stop motion bits. How much extra time does that take you when filming? Would you recommend it for others doing similar projects? I've got one coming too
Loved this episode again, way to short though unfortunately. No offense bij I just like your videos and could watch much longer ones. Good luck to you too
This classic Lotus does not need somebody lightening her - she is lightening herself throwing off layers of corrosion-eschar inside and out of the sandblasting booth. As a raunchy seventies Diva, she might have already begun loosing scurf in layers when she had her first caretaker ....
Stainless can, depending on the alloy, become brittle very fast. Not my first choice for suspension parts. There's a reason why no one uses stainless in that application. Metal fatigue is real. Powdercoated chromoly would have been my preferred material.
My DeLorean has very similar coolant pipes and I tried restoring the original ones, I only got a few more miles out of them before that pitting spraying a leak. It's not worth the hassle. Perhaps you can get some from DeLoreango they're pretty cheap a few
Lol actually I have a 81 dmc 12 and a 78 esprit s2. I have updated the pipes on both. They are very similar actually. Same width the but bends are a little different sadly. My repros from England were built wrong for the lotus. Like any part I order for that car it's always built wrong the I gotta fix it. My 12 is solid as usual though.
BUT BUT BUT changing those brackets and washers to stainless will surely mess with the tensile yield strength and your car will surely explode!!!!! ;) Jest aside, nice work saving yourself from future headaches with some shiny new parts that will never need painting :)
Are you interested in the Esprit posters? Leave a reply if the answer is yes, and let me know which you like best: left, middle or right 🍻
Yes front and rear. Shirt too. BRG with Tan interior. Wellnitz
Hear hear👍👍 yep me too a T would be awesome
Yep ! Right one looks sweet.
Yes yes yes….all and any
Front! 👌🏻

Aah...! The Soup is still warm 😃

"You get a speed hole! You get a speed hole!..." The Oprah of Esprits.
Time to get souped up! Beware the galvanic corrosion between stainless and carbon steels. Especially if something is in an area prone to getting wet or damp.
Definitely keep it white! Looks so good! Keep up the great work!
Mate you content is about the best of the you tube, like what TV was ment to be, what you do is unique. Not having the skills to do something means just means finding out how to do it without fear. The man the journey the result full stop.
Big fan of your videos for years. Always a great combination of effects, music, and results. Thank you.
It’s amazing to see the lotus coming together after all this time.
Such beautifully produced videos. The stop go animation is just sublime as are the chill beats. 👏👏👏✊
Best car build on the inter webs! So,so love the stop-action photography!

White suits the car! You could always wrap it in any lurid green of your choice & get the best of both worlds.
100 videos! Every one a treat.

Colin would have approved of the goldfish bowl of weight.
I still marvel at the stop-motion Morph like footage. Good luck yourself. This car is going to be worth it in the end.
I really love the way you do your videos. Keep up the great work. The lotus will look mint 👌 when it's finished
the lotus is making progress! I recently got myself a powder coating gun and an old oven. Love the stop motion work but I'm still waiting for the stop motion Skeletons to appear from "Jason And The Argonauts" helping out with the rebuild.
George, The quality of your content off the charts. Bravo!!
Really enjoyed seeing the progress on the Lotus. 😀 Thanks for another great vid Georgie and Cheers Lad!
With you on the whole “hate painting” thing George 👍🙂
Good to see you uploading frequently again! That "gymnastics at the pipe bender" was hilarious! :D
Congratulations on 100!
You've come a long way in five years. Happy as always to queue up the latest GTK and relax for a watch.
Watch the leisurely progress of your car makes me feel better about my own car sat slowly going back together piece by piece 👌
Good things take, time.

Dude this is amazing. Love this project so much. The car is so well engineered. You are really doing it properly
First up, I love the green!! i tore myself away from the vapour blaster to watch this! it's so cool you found something that only needed a little panel wipe! Looking foward to more! thank you...

I’m so excited there’s more soup classic lotus!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Nice one George, I have very nearly finished getting my Puma back on the road, so I will hopefully be getting back on the Excel Project very soon !! Hope your well mate 👍
Congrats on 100!
Beautiful work as always George! The car, the video editing, all of it 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Ivan :)
There seems to be plenty of candidates that would look good restored not by paint but nickel plate.
Agree. Nickel plated suspension components would look awesome..and corrosion resistant too.
Your videos makes me want to hit the like-button several times. Perhaps I need to become a Patreon?
Great work as always, George! It's you, Roland Finger and the Binky boys that gives me the most valuable content.
"Zeus's electric axe". I'm using that... keep up the good work!
Great work to see this coming along, keep going. no sleep till esprit!
Great content George. Please keep it coming !
Welding isn't always the answer. We engineers like flexible joints now and again.
Happy 100th. I really like yellow and his van.
Great progress, George! 👍👍
Cannot wait for that flex day to arrive!
I started watching at video #7. Have been here ever since. Congrats on the milestone!
Factory colour options for the specific year of cars always age better but hey it’s your car.
The colour on his poster looks like Lotus Martin Racing Green (A09), which is a nice Lotus colour however it didnt come out until 1979 on the Esprit, So I agree with you .

Can't wait to see the backbone on all 4 wheels again!
Love the video, awesome stop motion. I completely understand the distraction therapy of the posters.
That would be so cool re Posters! I am in Canada but I am definitely in. Fits with my 70’s mindset! I am thinking I need someone to do one of a / my Flared 914!
Excellent as usual. Green or not, it’s you. Well done. Keep going.
I see. I like. I watch
Top quality work as always George. I’m the same with the can’t see it but I know it’s there approach, glad it’s not just me!!!
Wow amazing camera work in DELVO! Good stuff as always
So many filters and stabilization effects 😂

Posters yes a T shirt YES!!
I'd suggest you anneal that pipe before trying to bend it! Exquisite production as ever.
Congratulations on the 100 episode. George.

Occurred to me that you’re a long way from the original CAD-the cardboard type-of earlier times. What a progression!
Fascinating stuff as always, I suspect the material removed from the gear linkage is going to be way the most noticable when it's finished, it's easy to forget how much weight of metal you're stirring around with each gearchange, a classic example of every little helps !!!
Def on my mind as I work through the linkage.
Don’t want to upset it.
Nice motivation wall. That should cause some acceleration! Glad you're keeping the level of video artistry up as the pace of work is picking up. Must be quite a difficult balance
Started with Esprit but ended up falling for the Elise. But if you love James Bond, it's a collectable worth having.
You should use a ship anoid on the side of your frame to stop rust. They work. Also fill your pipe with sand, tape the ends. They will bend better. No kinks!
Just what I needed tonight, fresh wedge content
15% like to watch ratio is insane. The people who watch your content clearly appreciate it.
Love the backlit posters. Great way to liven up an old work area and a perfect backdrop. What was the song in the background at the end? Very chill…
Good stuff George! Don't forget the parachute pants with your shutter specs.
The stop motion makes what could be another boring car reno video into something completely different and fun to watch
I love your videos, especially the stop motion bits. How much extra time does that take you when filming? Would you recommend it for others doing similar projects? I've got one coming too
Keep them coming!
They useda do this with bicycle parts pre CF, referred to as "drillium"
Loved this episode again, way to short though unfortunately. No offense bij I just like your videos and could watch much longer ones. Good luck to you too
The Esprit is what got me to this chan, TY for making great content.
10:27 Yay! It worked! 😂
Well done!!

Great as always
Loving this~
just a thought...stainless steel is somewhat soft and probably more compressible than mild steel. it is stiff however.
Stainless can, depending on the alloy, become brittle very fast. Not my first choice for suspension parts. There's a reason why no one uses stainless in that application. Metal fatigue is real. Powdercoated chromoly would have been my preferred material.
That is going to be one superb car when you've done. How's your W123 Merc going by the way, I loved that old car,
Lotus Content. Bonus.
You rock!
My DeLorean has very similar coolant pipes and I tried restoring the original ones, I only got a few more miles out of them before that pitting spraying a leak. It's not worth the hassle. Perhaps you can get some from DeLoreango they're pretty cheap a few

"the fossilized remains of a backbone chassis" Ha! Excellent.
The back lit pictures on the wall look amazing, I haven't seen you on the road lately are you keeping a low profile. 😆
I knew you were on the lookout so took my work back underground ;)
