Love the car, brilliant! The final colour not so much, but each to their own.

Tend to agree, great build but choice of colour is obviously the owners wish💪💪💪

The 4 inch wide flat strip in the middle of the bonnet of a Morris Minor is a bit of history. Alec Issigonis designed the car to echo late 1940s American styling. But originally it was the same width as an Austin A30. Issigonis looked at the prototype and it just didn't have the right American look -- far too narrow. So they cut the prototype in half and welded 4 inches into the middle. The flat strip marks where a bit was inserted in the middle of what had originally been a narrow ridge. It looked good, so they left it like that. However, when this happened the front bumpers had already been made. The early split-screen Minors had a front bumper that had been cut in half, and an extension bolted into the middle.

A 1947 Cadillac 2 door Coupe at a BMC meet is a cruel thing as people have spent buckets of money and time modifying Minors. This one included, to make it look better. But proportionally it's never correct.

The body shape of the Minor was inspired by the 1938 Buick Y-job, a one-off show car. I think the extra width of the Minor was 3" but the rest of the story is correct.

The Morris also has no nostrils in the radiator cowl, two holes that fill the nose inside the front bonnet. That is why a 30's GM has the bonnet shaped like that to aid radiator flow. It works the same way a modern cab over truck has ducts on the side edges of the body where the radiator is as it creates a negative pressure zone behind the inlet. The Mog just looks like it but the bonnet shape is just for looks and does the opposite the faster you go.

I really really like these compilations when the car is done! Utah's armrest was a bit odd thing to leave here.

Seeing this reminds me that it would be interesting to hear Retropower's view of Wray Schelin's "Flexible Shape Patterns". They're reversible, so the same pattern can be used .to shape both sides of a car.

Love the car but would change the colour, rear lights and wheels 👍

A 1or 2 inch chop to the roof would have been interesting to see ……

Having chopped a beetle and a Buick I never want to chop a curved car ever again. Like a woman wearing leather pants there are more examples of it looking bad than good.
