    Great video, editing and commentary. Try to use bigger dice. It's hard to see life total.

    I remember these days. When magic was fun and before it was stupid expensive to play type1/vintage.

      Luckily I started in 93-94 and bought out the stores when it came out 😂. I still own power 9 and duals from back then, although some are very heavily played because back then we were slinging power unsleeved in the school cafeteria 😂
      Card games in general are an expensive “hobby”/ addictive habit. I actually had a conversation with a friend recently over how card game addiction and impulse spending seems to be an unhealthy part of these games. I wonder how many of us spend a lot of money on cards, but have other financial responsibilities, for example.
      I learned over the years, that casual formats that let you use your old cards is best, unless you’re playing for money (pro level). The games are just too expensive
      I tried to play flesh and blood last year and had to spend $1200 on a competitive deck. That isn’t sustainable over and over again, and if I spend that kind of money I’d rather buy old magic cards that hold value.

    I’m just getting into magic at age 40. Very interesting. My nicest card is unlimited vesuvan doppelgänger so far.

    13:48 should absolutely be tapping city on opponents upkeep at least, on their end step at worst

    Question mates: 18:15
    When using the disk.. I thought regeneration of the troll requires tapping it. So he cant attack the same turn?
    Thank you

      You are correct - the troll should tap, this is a major misplay!

    to be honest, it kinda hurts those old, expensive cards being misplayed that badly :(

      I try to label my videos casual play when I know the players are not playing in a competitive event or with the best strategy. This video is just some guys having fun with these awesome old cards! But I also try and have competitive videos on the channel as well.

      Yeah old school is filled with misplays and unchecked violations of the rules. It’s annoying sometimes. Usually one of the players is good enough to notice and make a correction during the game.
      Casual shouldn’t mean “not caring” about the rules.

    Regarding library of Alexandria, it’s clearly the most busted card in all of old school.
    I really don’t understand formats with one strip because it leaves too many chances for library to be left unchecked and warp games.
    Their justification is that strip warps games on its own, but leaving library unchecked is way more warping of a game state than using multiple strip mine. It also leaves Mithras factory unchecked for a lot of games and that card on its own can totally dominate games turn after turn, especially when it pumps.
    If you’re Restricting stip mine, ban library and restrict factory as well. Then it’s an actual balance

      I tend to agree - I would restrict strip mine and ban Library. I understand people don't like the four Factories, but there are multiples ways to deal with them (swords/disenchant/blot), whereas Library less so.

      @@mtgnewengland1888
      Yes but in a format without four strip mine, factory can literally win games by itself, especially when pumping.
      Two factories can hold off big creatures like Juzam all day long. Just my opinion. 😊

    Very expensive deck

    • @mtgnewengland1888
      @mtgnewengland1888  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, many of the cards are super expensive. BUT there are plenty of casual and webcam groups that allow proxies, if you want to have some fun with cards you don't own yet!

    • @nickfanzo
      @nickfanzo 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Most old school formats allow proxies, as they should. So print a deck on a nice Inkjet and play some games!
