The movie version didn't have the Priest' song in it. Such a shame. To me it is the pivotal song in the whole opera. It's all about redemption. That song brings tears to my eyes and gratitude to my heart.
I was in a production of Les Mis and I remember this scene vividly, mainly because Fantine is one of my dream roles and the actress who played her was SO GREAT that I genuinely felt bad for her and forgot she wasn't actually Fantine and we weren't actually in a factory making rosaries.
