Hi Andy the outer sill on my Ghia curves under the inner part that you cut is the heater channel tube .The sill panel you are trying to use i think isn't from a ghia .if you put the front and rear repair panels up to the sill panel they should have the same curve profile and you will see what i mean the sill looks flat not curved .I hope this helps vw heritage sell the correct panels but they are £83 each so not cheap great work 👍
A good start on removing the rust on inner sill, thought it would be a lot worse. Atleast I’ve all the repair panels but will make my own inner . Somewhat original but stronger !!
If I was you Andy I'd keep the Sill Panel in one piece, it will be perfectly straight all along the bottom. It can be hard to get it that straight if you cut n shut it there! You can still add the other section on top there & the front guard part after it installed! Just a suggestion & I'm just observing from a video, but one thing that can make a car look good is perfectly straight sills!!
Jarno think these are cheap ones hence the extra material plus no ends but middle part ok . These was in the job Lott I bought I’ll think of buying new sills tho cheers
@@vwcoco Right ok! I still wouldn't cut the bottom edge, I'd keep it a nice straight piece & add the top part of the 1/4 panel & build up from there! Bit hard to explain here really!! Either way which ever way you think is best go for it!!!
That’s a rough one, but at least you’ve made a start, long way to go but it won’t get done if you don’t get in it, I’ll look forward to more on this 🙂👍
Hey Andy..how about underneath the panel you make, you place some square tubing for strength. Then your panels that you make would cover the tubing. Are the panels second hand? ….they will come up well. Possible penetrated oil painted on the old bit would be preferable choice on all of the old bits.. looking great!
shame you couldn't get some 2" box section remove that lip hanging down an put it flush to floor pan seal lip front to back then spot weld the out sill to it be one thing you wont need to replace ever again. enjoy your weekend buddy.
Andy can you buy or make a tubing to put in the are where your heat tube is then you would have good material to mount your other outside parts too. If all the cars use the same size heater tube you could make some ahead or buy it. I have a questions you don't have to answer, but how are getting along as a monitor for Chad's videos?
@@vwcocoI was one once . There was 3 or 4 of us . I found a couple of them were talking about me somewhere else and they corrected some of the suspensions I made said I was too harsh . I just gave it up and I still help with the people joining the club . Though some days I get tired of had going on about people stating their comments.
